I just spent the night nursing a cushion tassel thinking it was a baby hedgehog

Ok so my back is currently in spasm so am blaming my high strength painkillers for being such an idiot. Last night after letting the dogs out for a wee they became incredibly excited and it was because there was a hedgehog outside. I quickly got the dogs in and the hedgehog went on it's merry way. I was in the living room watching lots of episodes of Doc Martin (my new fav programme). I looked down and saw a small white soft spiky thing. I picked it up and panicked it was the shape of a baby hedgehog but white. I googled baby hedgehogs it looked the same. I was awake until 3 am cradling and keeping warm a cushion tassel. Googling and learning all about how to care for a baby hedgehog. FFS what a moron 🤣 I only realised this morning in the daylight what it was.

Last time I took cocodamol I couldn't shake the feeling my hands had been swapped with each other. Horrible.

MrsMoastyToasty · 27/02/2021 16:07

Many moons ago when I was a young girl I crept across the landing to my parents room and quietly woke my dad to tell him burglars were trying to get in.
It was our new hamster going round and around in his wheel.

ArabellaScott · 27/02/2021 16:06

What will you feed it? Does it need walked?

ChancesWhatChances · 27/02/2021 16:06

I’ll have some of whatever you’re on too please Grin I could do with seeing some sweet little hedgehogs in cushion tassels today!

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 27/02/2021 16:05

Must have been the co codamol fuzzing with my brain.

I've taken cocodamol x2 and tramadol x2 - never again. I'm barely sentient - I would definitely have made a similar misidentification.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/02/2021 16:05

When one of my dses was a baby, and occasionally co-slept with us, I turned over in bed one night, being very careful to lift the baby over me, supporting his head. Very sensible, I’m sure you are thinking.

But the baby was in his basket, and I was carefully supporting the head of a stray teddy bear that had ended up in our bed.

And I wasn’t on any strong painkillers at the time, so can only blame the tiredness of new baby broken nights.

SilverBirchWithout · 27/02/2021 16:04

I think it’s a teasel. That’s a seed head from a plant not a baby weasel btw. 😂

SilverBirchWithout · 27/02/2021 16:03

Were you relieved or disappointed?

spiderlight · 27/02/2021 16:00

Oh, bless you - this is brilliant!! Grin

PhoenixIsFlying · 27/02/2021 16:00

To be honest I dont actually know if it is a cushion tassel but it a tassel or something similar.

Bless you. A place in heaven surely awaits.

Cocolapew · 27/02/2021 15:59

😂

haggisandmarsbar · 27/02/2021 15:58

It's not a tassel, it's a butt plug pillow.

@PhoenixIsFlying

I am glad it made you laugh. Thank you for kind comments re my back. I am actually staying at my mums as in so much pain, mum is in my bubble as it just me, my daughter and the dogs. I must have inherited my gormless behaviour from my Mum (sorry Mum not being rude you are wonderful) . Two of our favourites from our Mum are , at Epsom Downs a big life size plastic horse and Mum is clicking her fingers and talking to it. The best though was in M&S when she tapped a man and he said 'can I help you? ' and Mum said 'Oh I was just seeing if you were real, I thought you were a dummy'. (Mannequin) The look on the mans face was priceless but I was so embarrassed. KTB19 and TyneTeas loved the tree bark and penguin stories xxx
Oh I don’t think you can blame the drugs at all OP. This is genetic. You’re stuck with it. Smile
AnitaB888 · 27/02/2021 15:57

That reminds me of my mother.
Many, many years ago she told me she saw what looked like a hedgehog in the garden in the snow and felt sorry for it. So she put out a saucer of warm milk (quite wrong for hedgehogs I know) and was very surprised in the morning when she saw the milk was untouched and the hedgehog still there.
So she put on wellies to go and investigate and found she's been offering milk to the yard brush that had fallen down.

strudsespark · 27/02/2021 15:56

Love this 🤣 and love your big heart.

If only we had a hedgehog emoji...please MN?
🦔 Does this work?
ColonelNobbyNobbs · 27/02/2021 15:54

Roaring at the ‘rare fungus’ sheep shite Grin

Knittedfairies · 27/02/2021 15:53

@AlwaysLatte

Please tell me you didn't also sew tassels onto your cushions??
Surely sewing baby hedgehogs on would be far worse?

GrinGrin

You need muscle relaxants PDQ. If you can relax the spasm your analgesia requirement drops. Trust me on this. I know how painful it is.

PraiseTheSunshine · 27/02/2021 15:48

Bless your heart 🤣 I could see myself doing something like that tbh

catpoooffender · 27/02/2021 15:47

Someone once posted on here that they were out walking somewhere and on a country lane saw a large toad in the middle of the road, about to be run over by a van. So she ran into the road and gestured for the van to stop so she could move the toad. Only as she approached it, she realised it was a cow pat 😅
