I just spent the night nursing a cushion tassel thinking it was a baby hedgehog

Ok so my back is currently in spasm so am blaming my high strength painkillers for being such an idiot. Last night after letting the dogs out for a wee they became incredibly excited and it was because there was a hedgehog outside. I quickly got the dogs in and the hedgehog went on it's merry way. I was in the living room watching lots of episodes of Doc Martin (my new fav programme). I looked down and saw a small white soft spiky thing. I picked it up and panicked it was the shape of a baby hedgehog but white. I googled baby hedgehogs it looked the same. I was awake until 3 am cradling and keeping warm a cushion tassel. Googling and learning all about how to care for a baby hedgehog. FFS what a moron 🤣 I only realised this morning in the daylight what it was.

I love dogs! We can take her, too! Especially with the sun hat you made her with the fern.

itsnotmeitsu · 15/05/2021 20:58

@Sweetpea1532 > I think I've fallen in love with you. But, of course, I'd put my dog first :-)

Sweetpea1532 · 14/05/2021 23:02

I usually can form an actual full sentence ConfusedBlush

Sweetpea1532 · 14/05/2021 23:01

@itsnotmeitsu
Those people were just jealous that they hadn't thought your absolutely genius idea!!!!
Well done you! If I were ever stuck on a desert island and I could only one person to be with me, I'd definitely pick you!!!
We'd be coming up with all kinds of useful inventive things to help up survive 😂

itsnotmeitsu · 14/05/2021 20:18

I'm thinking of how my rescue greyhound used to try and uphold her dignity. Where she got that sense of dignity from I don't know, but good for her. One day we were walking through a forest on a hot day and she was flagging a bit. I picked a fern frond and tucked it under her collar to cover her head. The looks I got from the dog as people were coming towards her and commenting :-( :-).

I realise this doesn't necessarily fit with the thread, but it's reminded me of the fact that a dog can suffer from embarrassment and, even better, show it on their face.

I’m literally crying with laughter reading this

Waterfallgirl · 06/04/2021 17:22

Just seen this as I was browsing classics. Such a lovely thing to do @PhoenixIsFlying - but I did laugh out loud!

Not quite the same but a few years ago we stayed at a camp site and it had a path (leading down to a field for dog walking ) which passed behind some gardens if very large houses. DDog and I walked up and down there for a couple of days with me telling DH and DC about the pot bellied pig in the garden down the road when we got back . On day three and they all come with me - which was when they had to break it to me it was a statue of a pot bellied pig and not real ! Needless to say I had an eye test when I came back from that trip!

I honestly come and read this thread when I need to feel like everything is alright in the world.

And then I think if there are people who would take in a cushion tassel and nurse it like one of their own then the world is a good place Grin. Hugs to the lovely op.

UnwantedOpinionBelow · 06/04/2021 01:51

Haha, I nearly wet the bed reading this!

MoreRainbowsPlease · 06/04/2021 00:44

I once spent 15 mins talking to my rabbit whilst I pottered around the garden. Eventually I thought it was odd he hadn't moved for so long and turned to look at him properly only to find out I had been talking to the angle grinder that DP had left on the lawn. When I later told DP about it (expecting him to laugh at me) he said he'd done exactly the same thing!

We are both short sighted, but were wearing our glasses at the time.

PhoenixIsFlying · 06/04/2021 00:19

I feel very honoured that my first and so far only thread has been moved to classics. Lovely to read everyone's stories. Hopefully if I post again it won't be about how utterly gormless I can be. Xx

'Off', not 'of'.

itsnotmeitsu · 05/04/2021 21:40

Also, in response to @PhoenixIsFlying >
I had a tassel that must have fallen of my cushion yesterday. It was laying on the couch. I picked it up and placed it on my greyhound's head. I told him, 'It suits you - you should go with a fringe'.

iammeiamme · 05/04/2021 00:16

This just might be my favourite ever post🤣🤣 I have been laughing for ages😂😂😂

You do sound lovelySmile

itsnotmeitsu · 05/04/2021 00:02

@MyGhastIsFlabbered > 'I have arachnophobia and have shrieked with terror (on more than one occasion) at the green top of a tomato!'

I have been known to hide those in a cupboard for my husband to come across. I found out he's not bothered by spiders (so it doesn't work as a practical joke, unfortunately}, but he does hate tomatoes.

itsnotmeitsu · 04/04/2021 23:50

Oh no Blush, that grammatical error will now be in 'classics'.

itsnotmeitsu · 04/04/2021 23:48

PS No frogs were harmed in the making of Smile ... the trellis is about four foot high and there's shrubs on the other side. I don't want to hold a frog in my hand but I'd be loathe to harm one.

@Member589500

Thanks for saving to classics. Grin I was dropping off a teenager one night when I saw a large black furry thing in the middle reservation bit of a busy road. It appeared to be writhing in agony. I pulled in to a petrol station a few hundred yards away and told the lad to run back and indicate to me if it was still alive. He ran back then started pointing at his head with both hands repeatedly. We were confused. My DD in the car said OMG it’s Mo Farah Grin He came back to advise it was a large wig and didn’t need our help.
Grin I'm laughing like Mutley.

@catpoooffender

Someone once posted on here that they were out walking somewhere and on a country lane saw a large toad in the middle of the road, about to be run over by a van. So she ran into the road and gestured for the van to stop so she could move the toad. Only as she approached it, she realised it was a cow pat 😅
I did the opposite of thinking a toad was a rock. I picked up what I thought was a stone by my back door and then realised it was a frog. I yelped and threw it over the trellis fencing.
Chaotica · 12/03/2021 09:48

I'm with @zzizzer here. You doubters haven't tried enough strong backpain medicine. The OP could be telling the truth.

HebeMumsnet · 12/03/2021 09:25

We're going to move this over to Classics now.

MycatiscalledTuppence · 07/03/2021 01:53

It would have been really difficult to bottle feed!

Hm2020 · 02/03/2021 01:35

Can I just ask what pain killers these where asking for a friend ?

noblegreenk · 01/03/2021 23:23

I can't stop laughing about this! Thanks so much OP, I haven't belly laughed like this in ages!
