Reminds me of the time I ordered 10 kilos of bananas as opposed to ten bananas...the delivery guy did laugh...but he took them back anyway!!

dentydown · 07/10/2020 17:47

Whilst under quarantine I ordered nurofen fast acting. (They has no ibruprofen in the store Hmm). They delivered it in the security box. I had to wait 48h for a strong magnet from amazon. It’s my security box now. I get to keep my chocolate in it!

Growles · 07/10/2020 17:46

If the supermarket stuff up on my order, I call them and they send the right goods and collect their mistakes.

squammy84 · 07/10/2020 17:44

I’ve done this before and if you ask nicely they can sometimes knock it off your list if you say your not accepting it as it was an accidental order

tillytoodles1 · 07/10/2020 17:43

I held a shopping slot by putting 3 ltrs of gin in. I meant to add my usual shopping later on once I knew what I wanted. I then totally forgot about it and the delivery driver turned up with just the gin, nothing else. Il

noneedtopanic · 07/10/2020 17:42

You're not the only one, I managed to order 40 pints of milk (yes 40!) by mistake 3 weeks ago. I was too embarrassed to say anything to the driver,I drank lots of milk that week instead of tea!

daisychain01 · 07/10/2020 17:32

The other week I ordered 3 carrots, thinking they would be those big thick chunky ones and they sent three of the most weedy skinny little things about the thickness of a gherkin.

Lesson learned, only order by weight not by unit.

JulieTwo · 07/10/2020 17:27

Sell them on Christmas Eve to all the folks that have forgotten that all the toys need them ....

jackstini · 07/10/2020 07:33

I often reserve with 6 bottles of Prosecco and have forgotten to take them off numerous times (well that's the story I am sticking to anyway...)

We had unexpected 4 bottles of spirits in one delivery. Rang Asda and was told to keep them as they couldn't come back and they would refund the customer who's they were! Shock

babbi · 07/10/2020 07:06

@FubsyRambler. That’s hilarious.. glad the boys loved the bonus food 😂

babbi · 07/10/2020 07:05

Tried to change my order from 2 bags of pasta up to 3 once .
Somehow system must have glitched and 32 bags came .
The delivery driver was very vocal to me about how ridiculous this was .
He said he told the person allocating the stock for his van before he departed on the delivery run ... “you have the customer’s phone number , why not call and check ? That’s so obviously likely to be a mistake “

He was told no just try to deliver 🤷‍♀️

I took 3 bags and the others had to go back

Bedsheets4knickers · 07/10/2020 06:58

to just say fuck it and embrace my mistake? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/2710598-to-just-say-fuck-it-and-embrace-my-mistake

londonscalling · 07/10/2020 03:52

I think you said you're annoyed as you're trying to be careful with money at the moment ... If they aren't opened, I think you can take the batteries back to Tesco with your delivery receipt.

FubsyRambler · 07/10/2020 01:09

My friend has two teenage boys, and they are both lovely, helpful young chaps.
So when a delivery arrived during the summer when she was at work, they put most of it away, scoffed some of it and were delighted at the extras she’d included, like pizzas.
They forgot to mention it, and 3 days later, the store tracked down where the misplaced delivery had gone...too late. They got to keep their accidental prizes.

Aridane · 07/10/2020 00:24

Five KILOS of turmeric? 😂

WilsonMilson · 06/10/2020 22:54

I use the click and collect at Asda every week. It defaults to the nearest Asda, but I always change to my preferred one.

For some reason one week I hadn’t noticed that I’d not changed it to my preferred Asda and duly chose my slot and did my weekly order. Went to the drive through to pick it up at my usual time. No order. No record of my order. Strange I thought, and was adamant that it should be there. Got out my phone to show them on the app, only to discover I was at the wrong Asda. Blush Felt like a right pillock.

I’ve also ended up with ridiculous amounts of bananas, and last week managed to click a quantity of 4 for carrots (in kilo bags). Safe to say we’re all seeing exceptionally well in the dark now!

@whojamaflip

I'm a scout leader and when we go on summer camp I always order the first 3 days food to be delivered to our campsite the day we arrive - saves taking up room in the kit trailer and as we are usually around 45 kids with leaders on took it's usually a huge order.

3 years ago got to camp and set up and Tesco delivery was due around 5, ice comes and goes and no sign of the delivery - kids starting to get twitchy as they are hungry.

Phone goes and it's Dh wanting to know why our normal food delivery was about 10 times bigger than normal and where exactly did he want me to put it all!!!

Turns out I had sent 3 days worth of food for 50 people to my home address rather than the campsite we were actually at 4 hours away Blush

We ended up at the local Morrisons with several of the scouts doing a shop that resembled supermarket sweep!!

did they get a shopping badge?
CarpeVitam · 06/10/2020 22:24

I managed to order 2kg of fresh broccoli! (so 14 lots) 🙄🤣

Katinski · 06/10/2020 22:15

Oh, and whojamaflip really love yours too! 3 days worth of food for 50 people? ROFL!

Katinski · 06/10/2020 22:10

Utterly fabulous thread!Grin
Nice to see that others have been caught out by the 1 sprout thing. The family Christmas Dinner of the Single Sprout has gone down in history here.
Love all your stories, especially the two leg waxes oneGrin

DENMAN03 · 06/10/2020 22:00

If it makes you feel better, I ordered a shed load of M&S Christmas food for a big dinner party to be collected... only I selected the collection day for the day after the dinner party..que having to buy everything twice..

slipperywhensparticus · 06/10/2020 21:58

I put in my usual bulk order of toilet roll as we are on our last few and I thought it hadn't gone through so I ordered again 96 TOILET ROLLS fortunately amazon let me cancel a pack as they hadn't been shipped when I spotted it but ffs slippery check your emails next time 🙃

I also ordered 10 BAGS of carrots online and 12 BAGS of bananas fortunately tesco let me send them back

@persistentwoman

The Christmas order arrived - with one single lonely brussel sprout with a little bar code wrapped round it Grin
Hahahahahahaha that really made me giggle! 💚
Cantbreathe2020 · 06/10/2020 21:41

@swg1

I generally put my Morrisons order in a week in advance. Usually it's pretty much the same stuff.

One week the delivery driver arrived at 10 to drop off my order and returned, grinning, at 12 with an identical order. Apparently I had forgotten I put it in and did it again.

🤣🤣🤣 You win!!!
