My husband is tired. I thought I’d better tell you all

There has been so much huffing and puffing around the house about how tired he is that I think he wants everyone to know.

@Wauden We both watched Mamma Mia last night on ITVBe.

pobble2019 · 19/07/2020 01:35

What is this universal experience that women seem to be having???

I thought me and DH would be equals in this housekeeping and childrearing endeavour. Ha ha ha.... Nope.

We both work full-time from home at this point, but in addition to my full-time work I am also studying for a part-time specialist diploma and also have a second career which I work on during weekends. Thus I multitask my work and also care for our (100% breastfed) 1 year old DD full-time and do a majority of housework and all the baby related laundry.

He constantly complains about tiredness, insomnia, not having eaten food, not having showered, not having dusted the room he sleeps in so he keeps sneezing.

He's been on about a mains hum that I personally can hardly hear. He says I've not been supportive about this issue. There is so much sighing and tired breathing and lying on the sofa, complaining about tiredness whilst I'm the only one doing anything to keep the household going. Baffling. I can't hear the mains hum because frankly I haven't got a quiet moment to observe the hum.

I often offer to make him food (he has never offered to make me food) but he rejects most of my food due to now going on a complicated vegetarian keto diet. Although recently he broke the diet to eat nearly all my chocolate.

When I told him to take something off the fire (something he was cooking just for himself) so it wouldn't continue to burn, he complained that he preferred the old days when him and friends cooked in the shared house like "total dipshits and ruined many a dish but it was fun" (actual phrase used).

Uh, ok, I guess unfortunately my tastes have matured such that I like to eat non burnt food and I like not having to clean up a burnt mess on the stove...

Sorry for the ultra long post, needed to get it out of my system. Guess I'm basically able to cope (and thrive) doing it all, but seems that DH is just Too Tired to do much.

@managedmis. Ideas for TV and films which a male won't like, so that he leaves you in peace:
Location, Location, Location
Cheesy shopping channels showing tacky make up, vacuum cleaners, quilting and knitting meerkat toys
Royal family programmes
Miss Marple
Mamma Mia film
Bridesmaids film
Golden Girls
Grin

KingOfTheNumpties · 18/07/2020 21:23

Thank Gawd I haven't got one anymore.

Superdooperal · 18/07/2020 21:04

Mine too. He is tireder than a tired thing. He is tired all the time. If I say I am tired, I am not as tired as him, have not worked as hard (and in any case my work is trivial even though it is the only secure income). He never asks how I am feeling. He falls asleep on the sofa at 8 pm every evening and I can't get him to go to bed. He comes to bed at about 2 am, wakes me up, sleeps for a couple of hours, wakes up gets up wakes me up, goes downstairs for a bit and wakes me up again when he comes back to bed. Once the kids have moved out it is separate bedrooms. As well as tired, I am extremely fed up. Sorry - a bit ranty. Kids (well young adults) all out and he is asleep.

Pumpertrumper · 18/07/2020 19:30

Oh and he took DS off for a nappy change never to return. 20 minutes of waiting for him to return and loading dishwasher I find him in the bedroom ‘entertaining’ DS by trying to make him watch friends on net flix
‘I’m giving you time to yourself’
‘You could have bloody said that! Been waiting for you to come back like a muppet...and he’s 4 months old he doesn’t want to watch Netflix!’

Pumpertrumper · 18/07/2020 19:26

Mine treated himself to a lie in whilst I tried to bath and entertain DS (4 months) in his bouncer.
Then he spent an hour on the play mat with DS (whilst I cleaned the house) declared himself ‘exhausted’ and trying to bugger off gardening!
Oh and there’s a football game tomorrow that he ‘wants to watch in his study’... that’s DH code for ‘I’ll be taking 2–3 hours of child free time please’!

Oh but he’s SOOOOOO exhausted, poor lamb needs it!

Strawberrycreamsundae · 18/07/2020 19:23

Mine’s living on borrowed time, he has no idea how close he is to being patio’d 🥴
He expects unending adulation for pushing the vacuum cleaner round occasionally (he makes 95% of the mess ffs!), he’s currently whinging because it’s raining and he suddenly needs to do something outside (he’s been sat on the sofa asleep or watching bloody Judge Judy on some never ending loop 😡 since 9 this morning) and the mere fact he’s breathing is making me murderous.
Thank goodness I discovered pink gin......😋

managedmis · 18/07/2020 19:15

Does anyone else have a list of TV shows guaranteed to make your DH fuck off out of the room? Recent faves of mine include Road House, some plastic surgery thing on Netflix and Gilmore Girls. Works every time

managedmis · 18/07/2020 19:11

Mine was petulantly asking me where his size 13 Under Armour filp flops were this morning. I've never felt more like shagging the hot young intern at work more.

LauraBlaths · 18/07/2020 19:05

Sure my husband works hard. So do I... however the ridiculously loud huffing and puffing of my oh-so-tired man drives me insane! I mean he should have been the one running around after our 3 year old yesterday (instead of me) playing little piggies and the big bad wolf. “I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down..” on repeat (after I’d got back from work, knackered, to my wonderful, furloughed husband).

Happynow001 · 18/07/2020 19:00
@ToriaPumpkin Allergy tablets and a regularsaline flush bottle from boots because prevention rather than cure. I know your pain to be next to the fucking SNIFF . Like a cocaine addict on speed. I have had to cock my ear out of car window to detract myself from such fucking SNIFF. He can't help it don't you know? And it is knackering. But more knackering listening to woe me, woe me me me me I, I, I .
Or soft silicone ear plugs...

Happynow001 · 18/07/2020 18:57

@ToriaPumpkin

Mine is rarely tired but good Gods the sniffing and snivelling and huffing when he comes into contact with even a microscopic amount of pollen... I have been known to throw boxes of tissues across the room at him when he sniffs, and sniffs, and sniffs... And sniffs. And then hawks it all back and makes that vile, vomit inducing burble of snot in theback of his throat, then coughs, then goes back to sniffing. I buy him the drugs and the local honey and implore of him to go to the GP for the good shit but apparently he'd rather flap around like a Dickensian heroine with a snotty tissue in his hand.
Bleurgghh!!🤮 No sex for him!!
Belleoverandover · 18/07/2020 18:57

DanceItOut I wish I had the guts to ask (or tell) mine to leave. I don't think he'd make it easy

Happynow001 · 18/07/2020 18:47

@Seapatrol

As a lurking DH on here, I feel I should defend my fellow menfolk... but I just don't have the energy.
🤣 how I wish there was a "LIKE" button on here!

Happynow001 · 18/07/2020 18:36

@BeyondMyWits

Mine doesn't say he's tired since I told him to "go to bed then sweetheart" and didn't cook him dinner -
You cruel 🤣🤣 CRUEL (ha!ha!) person! 😂

Well done!

Happynow001 · 18/07/2020 18:24

@Fromage

He went hungry and soon after he went single.
🤣🤣🤣😂😂!!🍷

DanceItOut · 18/07/2020 17:47

Mine did the “I’m so tired” in feeble voice whenever asked to do anything housework or childcare related while furloughed. He no longer lives here.

Belleoverandover · 18/07/2020 17:39

I think the "tiredness" is completely a man thing. I went for a nap as I was up at 5am with LO. He woke me up after 45 minutes even though I said I would get up myself. It's not like I needed to be up but apparently he's tired looking after LO for all of 45 minutes!

MRSsqueak · 16/07/2020 18:19

my dh is exactly the same. we mere women would never be able to understand what it is like to be that tired Grin

FlamingoAndJohn · 13/07/2020 17:14

The weekend seems to have done nothing to alleviate the levels of tiredness.

And notice how it appears to be a mans shirt?

LillianBland · 13/07/2020 14:10

@TheWoollybacksWife

I thought of you all when this advert popped up on FB yesterday.
🤣

That’s going to be under a lot of Christmas trees this year.

TheWoollybacksWife · 13/07/2020 13:59

My husband is tired. I thought I’d better tell you all
MitziK · 13/07/2020 13:57

I've just gone into the kitchen to make some breakfast/lunch, due to wfh.

And I walked straight back out again when I saw the state of it. Every pan has food in it or is in a bowl of dirty dishwasher. Every packet, jar and can is on the countertop and the plates haven't been scraped off, so have been left on the side.

He cooked yesterday. Seems that he was too tired to clean anything up afterwards.

Guess what he's going to come home to tonight? It sure as hell isn't a fucking clean kitchen.
