But where will Mrs B park when she attends the premiere????

clunkyinthebackend · 15/02/2020 08:10

Thought I’d lost you phew!

ProperVexed · 15/02/2020 07:31

I missed it as well. I bought a pink dressing gown last week. I had a choice between pink or cream....but the pink appealed more. I never wear pink. I blame this thread.

DartmoorDoughnut · 15/02/2020 07:11

Can’t believe I missed the start of the third thread!!

Looking forward to the weekend’s shenanigans Grin

Jojo2wyatr · 15/02/2020 04:37

I'm so excited that I'm about to faint at the thought of us all showing up to the premier in our pink dressing gownsss! Can't you just picture it! A sea of nothing but fushiaStar

Jojo2wyatr · 15/02/2020 04:34

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll...
You are on a ROLL tonight( pun intended)🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And your graphic artwork on the pub. posters is to be envied. Glad they decided to go "gritty", too...Nothing but the best for Alphabet Street starring our own @originalcatlady..
Can't wait! Do you think the premier will be at Albert Hall?!

originalcatlady · 14/02/2020 23:43

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll this is hilarious!

Channel 4 have sent through the proof of the film pre-publicity teaser poster for approval. They said they've gone for 'gritty' to reflect the down-to-earth reality of the whole saga and to represent the basic British sense of justice-at-any-cost they also said something about it being their Bring-Your-Daughter-To-Work Day

Oh, I do hope there is at least one prominent billboard or bus shelter on Alphabet Street.

Just one question, SausageRoll : who’s playing the workman? Surely an opportunity for an A-list cameo?

Ooh, controversial! I’m thinking maybe Liam Neeson - rough but oh-so charming with it.

Brenda Blethyn though
I like being Emilia Clarke better!

Apologies, OP, I was thinking wholly of her stealth, wisdom and all-round canniness and not her age or potential dourness – but your word is my command, so I’ve already been on to Emilia’s agent. It took a lot of persuasion, as she didn’t think herself worthy to fill your very big boots (very big as in mightily esteemed rather than clown-sized). After a lot of demurring and blushing on her part, she’s agreed to give it a go and is so desperate to do you justice and not to let you down. She said her worst fear was that, if she didn't give it her absolute AAA+++ Game, it could potentially lead to irreversible career damage. Yours, obviously, as Lifetime MN PDG-Clad Parking Sleuth President & Comms Coordinator in residence.

originalcatlady · 14/02/2020 21:49

I saw a proper metal sign on a pole at the end of someone's drive saying "it is illegal to block driveways and you shall be reported". Not in Alphabet Street though.

OP posts:
MovingBriskyOn · 14/02/2020 21:30

I walked past a car today with a big note on the windscreen written in felt tip.

The not started: please don't block the driveways

I didn't read the rest.

But it wasn't blocking a driveway, it really, really wasn't. HOW I thought about this thread.

We soooo need the pink dressing gown emoji!

Rightsaidmabel · 14/02/2020 21:05

Oh! mrsB!
We sat outside the house for the Borg McInroe final. Couldn't move.
It kept going to match point.
Had come from watching a matinee performance of Merce Cunningham's Dance Company at Sadler's Wells, with John Cage performing the music. What an afternoon.
Sorry everyone,as you were.Smile

Jojo2wyatr · 14/02/2020 20:26

@originalcatlady.....of course, Emilia Clarke would be PERFECT to play your part....I'm sure they could pretty her up a bit...... Maggie Smith in pink dressing gown at a do! ( See attached photo)
Does she favour M (in her AStreets MN watching attire) ? Or does she favour Mrs.B in her actual pink all- purpose( can be worn in or out of the house) dressing gown? @originalcatlady
See, MNHQ, this is exactly why we are in desperate need of that pink dressing gown attire emoji that we all keep clamoring on aboutGrin

I had my very first experience of school gate parking war today, I have raised two children but oddly never took them to school. I had to collect our grandson, regular picker-up unavailable, and becuase there've been a couple of lots of roadworks en route I set off early and they'd finished so I was there early. I parked in the road facing the school, the first car before the yellow line running to the corner. What an experience, a Chelsea tractor came round to corner and told me that she always parked there because her vehicle was so big. When I declined to move she wasn't happy, she couldn't go further down apparently because she couldn't turn her vehicle round. I suggested she bought a smaller car.

It was amazing though, by the time arrived for the children to come out the yellow line was full to the junction, on both sides, cars were parked across the corner and the whole village was grid-locked for a while.

Vinorosso74 · 14/02/2020 19:42

I saw a note on the windscreen of a car near me today which said "Selfish fucking parking. C**t". That person needs their paper and pen in alphabet street. I didn't want to get my phone out as the local druggies were across the road so apologies for lack of photo.

originalcatlady · 14/02/2020 19:26

No it's not touching...I should post a note through telling D his response is "yes but is it touching" when she complains.

OP posts:
BinkySodPlop · 14/02/2020 18:58

"right up against"?? Is it touching? ShockGrin

HeyMac · 14/02/2020 17:48

Would a webcam feed be overly creepy? I haven't been well for a bit and I would probably enjoy it whilst lying in bed.

originalcatlady · 14/02/2020 17:26

I like being Emilia Clarke better!

B is in 1/2, D is right up against her in 2/3. So if C cuts her car in half and sandwiches them, there will be plenty of room.

It's been like this always. My street is a never ending source of entertainment!

Londonmummy66 · 14/02/2020 16:59

I've been lurking on this thread for a while - I think there is something wrong with the film casting - I think Emilia Clarke for originalcatlady and, if I'm right about who she is then Maggie Smith at her most cantankerous might work better for Mrs M.....

sunshinesupermum · 14/02/2020 15:39

OP perhaps B is being collected for work like she was once before?

She really does have a thing about HER space, doesn't she? Exactly how long ave thee shenanigans been going on in your street?

Have to admit I was once similar with a next-door neighbour from hell Wink for a short time before we both moved out on the same day!

mrsBtheparker · 14/02/2020 14:22

mrsBtheparker That's an excellent reason for sitting in the car but weren't you tempted to run indoors and put the TV to watch??? Oops, perhaps you didn't have a TV, in which case ignore my question

Think it must have been on German TV, we were with MOD long before live TV in the forces TV, neither of us wanted to miss anything! I was fairly annpoyed, OH isn't even much of a tennis fan usually.

originalcatlady · 14/02/2020 14:12

C was back before B. B moved to her spot as soon as C went out earlier and doesn't look like she's going out today!

Wonder if pink dressing gowns will sell out across the country thanks to alphabet street thread?
