My child has a badge that sees ghosts?

Lighthearted!

DS 4, has a badge he calls “birdie friend.” I may post a photo later! It’s a badge with a bird on.

Birdie Friend seems to have the gift of the “sight!” “Birdie Friend says Bob and Rose are here mummy, they like to have tea with us. Bob and Rose are DH’s grandparents who died many years ago.

“Birdie Friend says the men who lived upstairs looked like you mummy when their faces burned off.” We used to live in a former military hospital and I had a sheet mash on my face! The ward upstairs had indeed been a burns/plastics ward!

“Mummy, Birdie Friend says the end is coming soon.”

😂😱😨

Pickly that's exactly what I was thinking!

Wagsandclaws · 20/01/2020 17:11

What Fizzyice said.

SnoozyLou · 20/01/2020 17:11

Seriously, go pickup a lottery slip, slide it I front of ds and ask "what numbers does birdie want us to fill in?" 😅

I think it's only fair. It's about time he started contributing.

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 20/01/2020 17:10

I’d be doing a pregnancy test if I were you OP
Same 🤣

whoopstheregomyinsides · 20/01/2020 16:52

Freaked out by this and really hoping it’s not true

SnoozyLou · 20/01/2020 16:49

Birdie Friend would give me the serious eebie jeebies!

FizzyIce · 20/01/2020 16:48

Really? I’m sceptical about this thread now

MarleyBarley18 · 20/01/2020 16:47

Literally!!

username108 · 20/01/2020 16:45

If you are not just bullshitting us, then just throw the fucking badge away. Why are you keeping it?

MarleyBarley18 · 20/01/2020 16:44

That’s fucking terrifying lol

Popetthetreehugger · 20/01/2020 16:40

So , just back , am going to make a coffee and catch up on BF and DS . Thought I'd share that i bought a smudge stick today as we live in a Victorian cottage and although it has a lovely vibe , a PP said you can bring all sorts back from the super market! So just to be on the safe side 😆. I told my very un woo DH about this thread , he went a bit pale and said he totally believes the lad as when he was very little he used to hear voices in he's head . They frightened him , he repeatedly told them to go away and blocked them out . He is 63 so probably 60 years ago and he hasn't forgotten!

Oh dear. Hopefully BF will learn his lesson now he's been shoved in a drawer!

LookingGlassMilk · 20/01/2020 16:30

Has anything happened that is making him think about death? When ds2 was 4 his great grandfather died and after that he talked about death a lot. He used to make his toys die.

'The end' can't be coming that soon if you have time to have another baby first

TLBftm · 20/01/2020 16:04

I’d be doing a pregnancy test if I were you OP 😬😉

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/01/2020 16:03

Clearly taking BF to nursery can be said to be not allowed -- the pin on the back would be a perfectly sensible reason to give. And if BF is not there he can't be telling DS anything, so DS won't be relaying BFs words if he does go telling children they are going to die, but inventing it himself. If he does, you'll have a better idea where you stand.

AliBear90 · 20/01/2020 16:02

This is so creepy. When I was a kid I used to see things and so did my sister. We used to always scare our parents with it. But never said things like what Birdie friend says. Birdie friend sounds quite sinister to me. But also not sure if your son is sometimes using bf as an excuse to say things that he knows will upset people. Why would bf claim all the children in nursery will die soon? Unless it’s to do with “the end” that he talks about. But I think it’s out of hand now and you need to speak to your son about bf and find out what exactly bf is saying to him etc

TheFormidableMrsC · 20/01/2020 15:58

Yes BF need to go now. Whatever is going on here, it can't be used to frighten other children. I'd ask Chaplain to remove it personally. I do hope that's the end of it, however entertaining this thread has been!

FenellaVelour · 20/01/2020 15:45

This thread was quite entertaining at first but it’s been a bit overcooked now.

MaryPopppins · 20/01/2020 15:42

Is this a badge with a pin at the back? As surely a nursery aged child wouldn't be able to walk around with one anyway?

Time to throw it away.

PlomBear · 20/01/2020 15:32

BF is now in a drawer, DS has been told he cannot say things like that to other children. He said he wasn’t being mean but just relaying what BF said. Like he knows SiLs dog is very poorly and will be dead soon.

DS then told me he knows he is going to have a baby sister soon and he told me what name she would have.

All very strange!

He really is a very bright and loving little boy and telling other children they are going to die is really out of character.

Reading your post gave me goosebumps!

bluebells100 · 20/01/2020 15:05

Telling kids they’ll be dead soon tells me not to take this badge too serious.

zen1 · 20/01/2020 14:54

Yes, I think it’s time to take the badge away and tell your DS that BF was being mean to people and has not been telling him the truth. Distract him with other things.

Laiste · 20/01/2020 14:41

Obviously BF is not now relaying accurate info. and is simply interested in/enjoying upsetting people.

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 20/01/2020 14:33

@RockinHippy yes, thanks for that Grin

Just the OP saying about going to nursery reminded me that DD told us about a woman who used to sit in one of the rooms in her nursery and would tell her to go away if DD got too close. She didn't like that lady. Definitely wasn't one of the nursery workers, it was a room they only used for playing in so the actual worker would take them through. This woman never went anywhere. Eventually DD never mentioned her again and they were using that room as their regular activities room so we were glad she didn't see her anymore.

She's also seen my grampa and my granny (who died years before she was born). I absolutely believe that children are able to tune into things we can't as adults.
