To wonder how my dd got to 14 thinking this was the real phrase?

We've all be ill on and off since they went back to school.
One morning Dd was telling me that she had a 'bummed up nose' I asked her to repeat it and she said the same.
I tried to clarify what she was saying and told her it was actually 'bunged up nose'. She laughed and thought I was joking!
She's decided she's going to carry on saying it the way she does Grin
Please tell me it's not just us. Confused

Oh on the misheard lyrics I used to think the words of Living on a Prayer were "Take my hand and we'll make it elsewhere"

Me too @AryaStarkWolf - until about 30 seconds ago, in fact. I just had to google the lyrics. You learn something every day...

Wombleish · 04/10/2019 18:28

I'm NE and say year to rhyme with fair.

Hecateh · 04/10/2019 18:24

Col-on-el Mustard anyone - took me a long time to believe that was pronounced 'Kernel'.

And one that I think I do say weird - al least for Yorkshire. My mum was from the North East so the way I say it may be more common up there. How do you say 'year'. I rhyme it with 'were' but locally it rhymes with 'fear' (which I can see makes sense

Nearly47 · 04/10/2019 18:21

@Marshmellow91 ,

I think it is Armitage Shanks

Colouringaddict · 04/10/2019 18:20

My grand daughter has always called a heart a “heart love” so now we all say it!

JeannieW · 04/10/2019 18:10

My mum bless her once asked directions to the aquascrotum department instead of aquascutum ( hope that's the right spelling)
I'm a glaswegian and pork rhymes with stork, and as far as I know all my family say it like that

sjonlegs · 04/10/2019 18:10

My dd (4) says buzz lightening and it’s so cute I haven’t corrected her🤭

WellVersedInEtiquette · 04/10/2019 18:01

Another one from me...funny how other people's post trigger memories. (Someone once told me to write them down when the children were small but I didn't)
Dd2 used to say, if her hands were full and she couldn't carry anymore, 'I'm full of my hands'
She also called escalators 'alligators' so obviously we still call them that!

Not quite the same,
My granddaughter was 4 when she told me she didn't like Cinderella in the Harry Potter movies. After a few clues were given I said "Do you mean Voldemort" ,

she replied,

"Yes, but I can't say that"

Lincolnfield · 04/10/2019 17:50
