Live CF parking thread (with diagram!)

So NC for this as not sure if neighbours are on here.

I am off today & woke up to the sound of doors banging and loud voices.

Have a glance out of bedroom window & there are 2 vans & a land rover parked on my ACTUAL drive!

Now I guess it's easily mistaken as a public car park Hmmso don't say anything immediately but once I'm up and toddler is dressed I go downstairs to see.

My next door neighbours are away on holiday. But of a weird driveway as their house has its own but it's round the back of ours and ours is at front so if you use sat nav it brings you to ours as their house is other side of our driveway ifyswim.

Diagram to show you what I mean.

Anyway they are unloading tools etc onto big sheets on my drive and walking over grass to neighbours

I said to them it was a private drive and could they move onto neighbours and they said they won't be long Angry

I was too shocked to say much more than 'no please move now'

Grrrrrrr!

"They aren't back."

Well that's my day ruined!

And mine. I may ring CF/P Plastering and complain about them not returning to the job!

Don't they know we are waiting?

This is our very lifeblood!

This thread is GLORIOUS. A level of petty I can only aspire to.

MissBridgetJones · 08/08/2019 12:33

.... and the award for Mumsnetter of the year goes to....

@lovesapinot

Fecking brilliant. X

Someonesayroadtrip · 08/08/2019 11:35

Awesome thread OP. Gutted they didn't come back. Annoys me how some people act, the company clearly doesn't care either. Hopefully learnt his lesson though.

CornishMaid1 · 08/08/2019 11:16

It may not be over yet, although it is a shame they didn't come back for round 2.

Given how much of a CF he is, I wonder whether he will charge your neighbours for the 2 or 3 hours of 'overtime' while he was locked on your driveway.

Maybe they're just having a tea break on the way? :hopeful:

prettybird · 08/08/2019 10:49

Or is your neighbour going to come storming round to complain that it's your fault that the job was only half done, the workmen have abandoned the job and his house is in chaos Wink

Alternatively, is he going to come round to tell you that his house was ransacked by thieves and did you see anything as they must have used a van to get the stuff out? Grin

"They aren't back."

Well that's my day ruined!

WiddlinDiddlin · 08/08/2019 10:02

Thankyou for a marvellous thread and exemplary diagrams. Definitely a classic.

Honeyroar · 08/08/2019 09:57

Well he had plenty of time to finish off yesterday doing that unforeseen overtime..

I wonder whether your neighbours will apologise when they’re back?

katewhinesalot · 08/08/2019 09:48

Bet he hadn't seen your gates earlier and didn't realise the options you had 😂

PrayingandHoping · 08/08/2019 09:48

I'm waiting for what the house owners are going to say when they are back.....

lovesapinot · 08/08/2019 09:41

#gategate

I'm afraid it's bad news.

They aren't back. Sad

I was up with the mark waiting with gage locked and my car behind but - nada!

Not even at next doors!

I'm hoping they are too ashamed!

Well done for standing up to cf man

It's not just men. I am opposite a kid's dance school. Almost every day some entitled/selfish women park across my drive whilst they take their precious sprogs in or out of the dance school. It's not just a minute or two either - I've been stuck in my drive for 5/10/15 minutes sometimes whilst waiting for them to finish gossiping inside.

They could easily park a few yards away, but no, they're too lazy to walk from the plentiful on-street parking a few doors away each side, nor the car park literally 2 minutes away!

Tea (tick)

Biscuits (tick)

Comfy chair (tick)

Sexnotgender · 08/08/2019 09:10

Are they back? Hopefully parked on the correct driveway...

LakieLady · 08/08/2019 09:00

How can the OP be done for unlawful imprisonment when she asked the CF to “ger off my land” several times in the day? He could have walked off the drive through he bollards as presumably he had been doing all day.

Sorry, I was being flippant, which clearly didn't come across.

AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 08/08/2019 08:52

My popcorn is on the stove ready for today's installment. 🍿

Scruffalicious · 08/08/2019 08:42

Hope your gate is locked this morning! Add a big sign that says...

NO PARKING FOR YOU, CF

HavelockVetinari · 08/08/2019 08:28

Marvellous result! Ooh, I hope he turns up today!

Damntheman · 08/08/2019 07:53

OK boom.. sure. But if you then actually HAD asked that man to move his car and he'd laughed at you, not taken you seriously and then not moved the car, you'd still think 'eh ok I'll leave it then' would you? Would you really? Hmm

boomshakalak · 08/08/2019 07:50

Still don't get it (and I promise I'm not just trying to be 'that person').

It's not that I wouldn't care about someone parking on my driveway but I'd probably think - CF, never mind.

I just can't imagine getting riled to the point that it takes up an entire day and hundreds of posts on Mumsnet.

I am truly and sincerely intrigued - not trolling I promise.

As an aside, I am by no means any kind of doormat! I've been described as an 'assertive powerhouse' before! Maybe that's why I don't care - I know he would move if I asked him to - I'm pretty scary, even when chilled out!

ThanosSavedMe · 08/08/2019 07:43

Was explaining this thread to a male friend who didn’t seem to get that this was a real thing - parking on someone’s drive. And when I suggested that if a man had asked him to move he’d have done it straight away so op’s locking him in was perfect

PerkyPomPoms · 08/08/2019 07:25

Great outcome
