Vic and Doreen have two children - Elaine - lucky in her career as a Weightwatchers meeting leader (she's done ever so well to lose the four stone) but she's unlucky in love. Their second child, and Doreen's favourite is John-Paul, named after Doreen's hairdresser at the time. He's less of a success and still lives at home.

Nick is a bastard to the juniors in his law firm, but is charmingly and attentively polite to his wife's friends.

Ellaine added the extra "l" to her name in order to make it sound a bit wackier to her colleagues in admin. She eats stinking hard boiled eggs for lunch, brought from home in a tupperware box.

Cressida works in the arts (though no one's ever entirely sure what she does) and has unruly hair which could do with a dose of Frizz Ease.

She doesn't eat very often (she forgets )and wears clashing ethnic clothes.

Throw into the mix Mimi, an alpha mummy who's uber competitive over the scolastic achievements of her 7 year old twins Hero and Ptolemy.

Pat has back problems. There's a Post-It note sellotaped onto the back of her chair that says 'PAT'S CHAIR DO NOT ADJUST'. Pat is five stone overweight and has a portable fan on her desk which is permanently on. She keeps her colleagues updated about her Slimming World meetings though so they know she's making an effort.
