Next door's -thug- cat

Has started coming in our house and stealing cat food.
Our cats dislike him. (understatement...)
Once he's in it's a problem removing him because he growls, hisses and then attacks us (launches at our legs etc).
He spends an inordinate amount of time in our garden or staring in through the French windows. Any suggestion how to gently discourage him? I have no intention of having outside doors shut for the whole summer.
Enclosed a picture of him sitting on our outside table.

Liquid cat pours himself off the chair ...

And that belly! How could anyone resist!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 02/08/2019 11:18

qazxc that photo is uncanny!

TC is at the back the morning - joined us for breakfast on the patio looking very relaxed - even allowed me to stroke his tummy.
Then he slid off the chair and tried to break in again.

I think that TC is smarter than that. He wants in ... on his terms. :)

sweetkitty · 02/08/2019 08:01

And being a cat if you allowed him in the house he would probably turn around and miaow to get back out again in 5 minutes

sweetkitty · 02/08/2019 07:58
Grin I think if you told him you were adopting him and he was now your baby and he was to sit on your lap every night for cuddles and watch the telly he would soon scarper. Works for my cats!Hmm
Supersimpkin · 01/08/2019 21:41

Zero sum game, this one. He is desperately sweet.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 01/08/2019 19:59

sweetkitty
I perceive you are indeed a wise cat whisperer.
Sadly I think the criminal mastermind (psychopath) that is TC would see through this ruse and simply take advantage anyway Grin.

Being a cat owner I reckon you must use reverse psychology on TC, invite him in, shower him with affection, in fact beg him to come sit on your lap, this is the guaranteed way to make any cat become totally indifferent to you.

Olinguito · 01/08/2019 19:43

Yes, poor TC. He just wants to join the Grumpy gang.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 01/08/2019 18:38

Poor TC. Look at his little sad face. He does not understand why he is rejected.

TremblingFanjo · 01/08/2019 12:21

All his surveillance has really paid off if he can predict when you are going to be opening which door Grin I do admire his persistence.

CassandraCross · 01/08/2019 11:59

Aah the daily fix of the ever adorable TC. Do your neighbours know about TC's fan club?

On another note, TC may not be your cat but you are definitely his human and your house is definitely part of his empire. Resistance is futile, you have been chosen, console yourself with the fact you put up a good fightGrin.

Going back to you doing the unthinkable and laughing at TC when he fell off the table and bearing in mind the names of two of your cats and the reference to Fawlty Towers I was reminded of the episode when Basil said to a poor unfortunate builder "Oh God, don't smile" and Sybil took suitable action against the smiling - beware of any umbrellas within striking distance!

Yesterday morning as I went out to call mine in, TC was waiting ready to storm the house and launched himself at the door the second it opened. I managed to shut the door before he got to it and a friend of DS1 who is staying asked why he wasn't allowed in? She was very surprised when we told her that TC wasn't actually our cat Grin.

He is gorgeous Grin

Nonstopbuttmachine · 29/07/2019 16:26

Love his serious little face in the third photo after attacking you. Way to save your dignity, TC 😂

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/07/2019 14:18

😹

YetAnotherSpartacus · 29/07/2019 14:01

But not LTB.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/07/2019 13:35

I would, cancel the chq and get your ducks in a row too.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 29/07/2019 13:26

Dear TC (alias diaryofthugcat)

Oh dear. Since you have now recognised me from RL does this mean I have to ask Mumsnet to remove this thread? Shock

diaryofthugcat · 28/07/2019 23:31

Dear diary,

I did it! Today Grumpy laughed at me. I knew Grumpy loved me. Granted I had to do a fake fall off a table for the laugh to happen and then I pretended to bite G after they laughed at me but gradually the walls are beginning to tumble down.

One small victorious paw forward.

Love

TC

llangennith · 28/07/2019 20:42

I ❤️ thug cat😊

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/07/2019 20:27

“Then he bit me”

That’s the correct response, he’s read the manual.

CassandraCross · 28/07/2019 20:24

Oh no Grumpy you laughed - you are on such dangerous ground now!
