Next door's -thug- cat

Has started coming in our house and stealing cat food.
Our cats dislike him. (understatement...)
Once he's in it's a problem removing him because he growls, hisses and then attacks us (launches at our legs etc).
He spends an inordinate amount of time in our garden or staring in through the French windows. Any suggestion how to gently discourage him? I have no intention of having outside doors shut for the whole summer.
Enclosed a picture of him sitting on our outside table.

Good call MNHQ! TC forever more!

HebeMumsnet · 16/12/2019 09:52

Morning Thug Cat Followers! We've had a few nominations for this thread to go into Classics so it isn't lost and people can enjoy Thug Cat for evermore. We'll move it over now.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 12/12/2019 10:02

TC's new thread

Spartacus - yes I'm happy to set up a continuation thread after we hit 1000

That’s excellent news! TC aka The Thane of Cawdor! This thread was already superb, but the Macbeth angle makes it sublime...

AnniePankettonne · 12/12/2019 08:13

Will we find it in the litter tray?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 12/12/2019 07:39

Spartacus - yes I'm happy to set up a continuation thread after we hit 1000.
I'm still waiting for the 'Mumsnet have commented on this thread' message though Grin.

And on that score, we are up to 983 posts - Grumpy, please promise you will start a 'TC Returns' second thread (also starring Grumpy, Sybil, Basil, Lenny and Karl, with the occasional appearance of Mrs Grumpy and NDN).

Nonstopbuttmachine · 11/12/2019 18:21

I thought Grumpy was a woman married to a woman Shock

BovaryX · 11/12/2019 15:32

all the pretty chickens and their dam in one fell swoop, he leaves them alone

Ha! TC! The Thane of Cawdor!

He was despised, and rejected. A cat of sorrows and acquainted with grief

But if he screws his courage to the sticking place, he’ll not fail.....

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 11/12/2019 12:28

He's more than happy to take you on, but won't even attempt a run at the chickens - what does that tell you Grumpy? Perhaps you should try henning up, if the womaning up is too complicated.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 11/12/2019 12:20

Poor TC ... Maligned again! :)

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 11/12/2019 12:17

I suspect that TC would only be happy if I were to cut my sleeve and arm off - so he'd got something to gnaw when he woke up.

Crown Grin freudian slip !

AnniePankettonne · 11/12/2019 12:00

Grumpy would do that for TC [tcgrin]

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 11/12/2019 12:00

Love that story too - and I've always tended to assume that's why cats have not been systematically mistreated in Muslim countries in the same way that they have at times in the West.

OP posts:
YetAnotherSpartacus · 11/12/2019 11:52

OTOH I do believe that they are mentioned in the Hadith.

www.dailysabah.com/feature/2017/12/11/love-of-cats-a-sign-of-faith-in-islam

I love the name Muezza for a cat and love the story about how Mohammed cut his sleeve off rather than disturb a sleeping cat.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 11/12/2019 11:40

The most rational reason for being an Atheist is that cats don't get a mention in the Bible. Clearly something wrong there.

OP posts:
YetAnotherSpartacus · 11/12/2019 11:33

I'm an atheist and I actually went to look that verse up believing it really did say cat :(. But yes, it suits TC :) although a DA DA DA DUM! would be a better musical introduction I think. Now, for some reason, I have an urge to watch The Goodies 'The Music Master'.

In advance - we need another TC thread when this one fills up :)

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 11/12/2019 11:24

Yes that was a chicken you saw behind him. And despite the fact that TC could probably kill all the pretty chickens and their dam in one fell swoop, he leaves them alone.
Continuing the literary theme (and I blame @YetAnotherSpartacus for this) I now keep thinking of Isaiah's suffering servant,
'He was despised, and rejected. A cat of sorrows and acquainted with grief'.

On that basis TC is now greeted with a Handellian aria whenever he appears. Maybe that will put him off?

And to confirm - yes I'm a he, and no offence taken at being misgendered - I'm still trying to work out how to 'woman up' as a previous poster suggested I should.

DW thinks I waste far too much time on this site. She has a point Grin

For some reason, I keep reading this in Macbeth's voice.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 11/12/2019 10:39

Is that a chicken I see behind him?

For some reason, I keep reading this in Macbeth's voice.

nettie434 · 11/12/2019 10:03

I thought Grumpy was a he

I had not thought of that Blush. Sorry for any misgendering. I like the plan for Grumpy to become self sufficient through TC’s hunting YetAnotherSpartacus.

AnniePankettonne · 11/12/2019 09:50

Hay . it's MN ..all into self ID on here !
I have no idea what I am .

YetAnotherSpartacus · 11/12/2019 09:40

I thought Grumpy was a he and I reckon TC could bring home the bacon rabbits, ducks, other birds, rats, mice, voles, small puppies. :)
