Thank you, thank you. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you Flowers

The DCs and I left our family home this week. as we were fleeing domestic violence. It's been a really shitty week, but thanks to all of your food bank donations our cupboard looks like this. The volunteers there were so welcoming to me, gave me tea, checked I was okay and they're going to make sure there are some bits waiting for me next week that weren't available today.

I've been overwhelmed by the generosity of people. Friends of a friend have given us bags of toys.

If you ever lose your faith in mankind, remember that the kindness of strangers has provided food and happiness to my children this week. I couldn't be more grateful.

Thank you Flowers

I wish you the absolute best of luck Throw. Flowers

I work in DV, including in refuge, so deal with our local food bank on a regular basis. The generosity of people never fails to amaze me.

How lovely of you to think of thanking others when you have so much to focus on. You are a good human being. I send you strength and best wishes for a safe and secure future for you are your DC. Flowers

This is, strangely, one of the loveliest posts I've ever read.

I'll keep donating and, in return, I ask that you keep on being strong and remember you are amazing x

Tartanwallpaper · 14/03/2019 19:40

Well done OP. I know it'll be hard at first, but you're giving yourself and your children a much better future in the long run. Flowers

Spudina · 14/03/2019 19:31

Good luck OP. Well done for getting away.

billybagpuss · 14/03/2019 19:31

Good luck OP. Flowers

I only tend to donate at Christmas because thats when they have the collection points out in supermarkets. Where do you go to donate at other times?

Foo2 · 14/03/2019 19:31

Wonderful! Well done Op, wishing you all the best

HogMother · 14/03/2019 19:29

❤️

poppym12 · 14/03/2019 19:29

I wish you and your children lots of happiness in your new life Flowers

I tend to buy different things each week for ours but never know if it's what's really needed. Are fòod basics better than treat items?

maxbabi · 14/03/2019 19:28

You are a superstar. Thank you for sharing and making me feel better.
All the very best for the future to you and your family.

rainbowruthie · 14/03/2019 19:28

What bits give you that little pick me up? (Will note for next trip)

Wishing you all the best xx

Foodylicious · 14/03/2019 19:22

Well done you for getting out and asking for the help you need and deserve Star

Fantina · 14/03/2019 19:19

Ps. I hope things continue to improve for you, OP!

Fantina · 14/03/2019 19:18

How much choice do recipients get? I know dietary requirements will be followed if at all possible but what about taste preferences? I always donate, often something that was destined for our house as I forget and have to pick something out of the trolley. Often something treat like that I realise we can do without!

UrsulaPandress · 14/03/2019 19:16

What would you like to see from a food bank?

DoingTheBestICan · 14/03/2019 19:15

That has really touched my heart op, I shall ensure that I buy something extra to pop in the bank this week.

Good luck in your future op.

ChicCroissant · 14/03/2019 19:15

Well done for getting away OP, wishing you and your children the very best of luck in your new life.

elephantoverthehill · 14/03/2019 19:13

I've volunteered at a food bank and used to try to imagine the person the 'picks' were going to. So good to hear from a real life recipient and the best of luck for you and your DCs in your new life.

BlueMerchant · 14/03/2019 19:13

How strong and brave.
Here's to new beginnings!Brew

madasamarchhare · 14/03/2019 19:09

So glad you are safe and that these donations have made your life a little easier this week. Bless the people who volunteer and offer a kindly word and a cup of tea. It makes such a difference in shitty situations. Onwards and upwards for you, this time next year you will be in a much better place.
