My kids' dad fed them badger

I'm not joking. We are separated and he sees them for the day once every few weeks. Last week he took them for the day in London and when I picked them up they told me, very casually, that Daddy had given them badger with rice for lunch. He had sent me a picture a few days earlier of a dead badger so it is totally plausible, and given that he has been homeless for the last couple of years and often 'lives off the land' I am certain he would not think twice about eating a badger. He told the kids that he steamed the meat for 4hrs but now i'm really worried about the whole TB thing. They seem fine but not sure if I should get them checked out. Any words of wisdom?

But what if the person eating the diseased badger is a right cow? Is the jury more out on that one?

OkPedro · 16/11/2018 03:04

I don't get the "sett menu" joke?!

cordeliavorkosigan · 16/11/2018 03:00

Haven't RTFT but TB in humans is a human-to-human, respiratory pathogen that is specific to humans, and you could not catch it from a dead badger.

Crappygilmore I was struggling tonight but htis thread helped distract me from the nasty stuff in my head.

notavictim36 · 16/11/2018 02:53

this is as good as snapped and farted But does it make you want to scream at the Sistine Chapel???

Crappygilmore · 16/11/2018 02:51

We could start a new recipe book. 101 ways with badger. I'm guessing if it tastes like beef the first one would be badger Wellington.

Thank u this thred has saved me from insomnia hell.
Sett menu ... fucking classic.

notyounanbread · 16/11/2018 02:51

Google “eating roadkill”. It’s a thing.

giftsonthebrain · 16/11/2018 02:51

Roadkill stew, and Mustgo stew. Not unheard of.

BlackBeltInChildWrangling · 16/11/2018 02:41

English is not my first language, (it is).

I've been hearing a lot about this on your news tonight.

Brocks Eat, yes? No?

RainbowsArePretty · 16/11/2018 02:26

Anyone else wondering if they can order badger to go alongside the Christmas turkey?

kateandme · 16/11/2018 02:21

squirrel sausage rolls are amazing

RainbowsArePretty · 16/11/2018 02:20

Unacceptable.

Badger & rice is purely carb & protein. Surely in the woods he could have steamed some wild apples or other fruit in order to make it a balanced meal

RainbowsArePretty · 16/11/2018 02:18
  • TB or not TB? That is the question.* 😂👏🏻
1forAll74 · 16/11/2018 02:17

Oh,I didn't realise that you could eat badgers. Wish I had known,as two lovely badgers spent four nights digging up my front lawn a few weeks ago,, would have saved me a few quid on food that week.!!

What next, cats? no.no.no. I have three, they are my little precious ones!!
I am in Hertfordshire by the way, wonder if it was one of my lawn diggers that was eaten, !!

MissLadyM · 16/11/2018 02:13

This thread has had me laughing although I'm not sure wether to believe OP or not! If it is true, I'd hazard a guess that he's having them on

On a serious note, homeless people so have phones and do get them charged. We've become friendly with a local homeless man who has asked DP to keep an eye on his (basic) phone whilst it was charging in McDonald's once. DP has taken to giving this man money and I keep saying we should ask him if needs anything specific and the other day I did and he actually said he'd had his phone stolen, so we bought him a new one [santa]

AbsentmindedWoman · 16/11/2018 01:37

@HarrietKettleWasHere

It’s weird as OP has a very banal posting history, then went rogue with badger and rice.

Grin Grin Grin

The above and sett menu made my day Grin

As did the OP's cheerful surprise with @BadgerAndRice 's username Grin

Who is going to tell Ratty, Mr Toad and Mole?????

Probably too late to issue a warning.

Simmer with courgettes, peppers etc for nice Rat-a-touille; Toad has obviously in the Hole; and then add a classic Mexican sauce for Mole mole.

Aridane · 16/11/2018 01:33

I love this thread, and if true and ex wasn’t pranking the boys, I think the badger ratings boys and the badger cooking homeless father with Tupperware awesome!
