To harness the power of Mumsnet to make a little girl's Christmas...

Posting here for traffic because I am clearly not BU Xmas Wink

My friend's DD has lost her beloved Floffel. Floffel is her seal cuddly toy from babyhood and will never be found again as Floffel was lost overseas.

Friend's DD has written to Father Christmas asking for Floffel back. Nothing else on the list - just Floffel.

They don't effing make Floffel anymore Xmas Shock Xmas Sad Xmas Confused

Friend's DD as been through the wringer lately - can't go into details as would be outing but suffice to say she could really really do with a boost.

Please please please wonderful people of Mumsnet - if you happen to have an Aurora Naturally seal like the one in the photo hanging around your house (it's flannel not plush apparently and has the word 'naturally' on its bum) that you'd be willing to sell/give away it would truly honestly make this little girl's Christmas.

TIA Flowers

Smile Love a happy ending to a thread!

hellsbellsmelons · 15/12/2017 15:07

Woohoo - he'll have a lovely new owner very soon.
I'm so pleased for you and well done everyone.
This has been a truly touching thread!

Footle · 15/12/2017 14:59

Bicnod, your involvement in the search for Floffel needs no more explanation. Sob.
I speak as someone whose absolutely essential off-pink blanket floated out to sea far too early in her life.

TheStarsAreMine · 15/12/2017 14:53

Sparklymagpie. I used to work with someone who had silky knickers as her favourite thing when she was little too.

ImMrsBrightside · 15/12/2017 14:52

This has just made me cry!! AMAZING!!!!!

Bonkerz · 15/12/2017 14:44

Yay am so pleased he's arrived and is heading from the dark toy box he's lived in for a few years (occasionally being chewed and thrown by various children) to a new little girl who will treasure him!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 15/12/2017 14:36

A thank you, too, to all of those who knew where to look for such things, and tried to find a Floffle - and to those who are still looking foe seal-y spares!

I just cheered from the sidelines, but I'm thrilled that there is a happy ending.

SparklyMagpie · 15/12/2017 14:31

Omg this is amazing !!

Made my heart feel as fuzzy as I imagine Floffel's is ❤❤❤

What a fantastic ending and what an amazing mumsnetter who solved this !!

Imagine the little girls face on Xmas day! 😍

My 2yo DS is favourite thing in the whole world is a blue and white striped hooded bear blanket "teddy" bought by a friend when he was born, he has scratched away at the sewn nose and he rubs one of the ears on his nose and mouth,it's seen better days. I spent weeks trying to track down another just incase god forbid he ever lost teddy, unfortunately after showing my DS in the hopes he'd take to it so I could then hide it away,he never has and always offers it to our dog Dougal if I get it out 😂😂

Has clearly more smart than I gave him credit For,so I have plans to try an scratch away at the nose ect to try an make it look a little tatty incase a situation like this ever happens

I can't talk though,my lost prized possetion when I was little was a pair of silky knickers BlushGrin I wouldn't go anywhere without them. Never knew what happened to them :(

I love stories with an ending like this and shows how random strangers come togather to bring happiness to a child

Amazing

And well done OP and Bonkerz for making this little girls Christmas

Doesn't get better than that :')

Of course we can't get a video of the girl opening it. Don't be ridiculous.

OlennasWimple · 15/12/2017 13:26

Can we have a video of the little girl opening the toy on xmas day?

Er, bit of an invasion of privacy...? Hmm

BakerBear · 15/12/2017 12:34

Can we have a video of the little girl opening the toy on xmas day? I would love to see it

Nervousrex · 15/12/2017 12:08

My DD has had Floppy, one of the original Pound Puppies, since she was very small. He was mine originally.
Floppy is, frankly, a health hazard, but is not allowed anywhere near soap, water or (God forbid) a washing machine. He lives by her bed.
DD is 27. What her DP must think...!
I am really enjoying this thread. Well done Mumsnet!

FinallyHere · 15/12/2017 10:49

I have a dear Teddy, a gift for my first Christmas. Fortunately, a photo has survived, of Teddy in all his glorious plushness. Today, he lives on the bookcase in the bedroom: DH claims to have been terrified, the first time he saw Teddy and realised what damage could be inflicted by the simple act of being love by me. Reader, I love 'em both but if I had to choose.....

FineSally · 15/12/2017 10:26

Its amazing how attached we get to certain toys. I still have a doggie made for me - he must be nearly 60 by now. He's made of a camel-coloured material that was left over from a coat. He is rather threadbare now and his ears have been chewed by several generations of cats but he is sitting by my sofa, not carefully wrapped up in a cupboard.
I will always treasure him because I only found out after she died that the lady who made him was my gran.

RaeCJ82 · 15/12/2017 08:49

When I was little I had a seal called Sammy. I lost track of the number of times my mum had to sew him up. She even had to make him some new eyes. When I moved out I left him at my mum and dad's thinking he'd be safe there. Unfortunately, after my mum passed away, my dad decided to have a massive clear out. I didn't realise he'd thrown Sammy away until I had my daughter and thought I'd go and get Sammy for her. My relationship with my dad was bad enough before he got rid of Sammy, but I couldn't believe he'd thrown out a beloved toy from my childhood without even asking if I wanted to collect him.

Boffin90 · 15/12/2017 08:08

Can’t wait for the reunion! Yay!!!

Bicnod · 15/12/2017 07:47

@Footle that is still and always will be my favourite children's book...
