So it arrived damaged. Never mind, I thought, it's what's inside that counts...

I thought I had no interest at all in advent calendars until I idly opened this thread. Now I'm gripped to see what's in day 3.

I came back too even though I have zero skin in this game, just a lame Lindt advent calendar (mini Lindor, what’s that all about?).

I will admit to stocking up on my usual Bourjois foundation and powder in Superdrug to get the free gift (full size mascara, red lippy and matchingnail polish) and then again in the nearby Boots to get the other free gift (full size highlighter, nudey pink lippy and polish, mascara). I have no idea what the highlighter is for - comes in a bottle like foundation. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

snowflakestar · 03/12/2017 15:05

This thread is great (sorry!).

Moogletea · 03/12/2017 13:45

Super jealous of the funnel. So jealous that when I came across this 35p bargain in the corner shop this morning I had to purchase. Now off to ponder beauty uses for it 😀

Best thread I’ve read in ages.
I’m opening the M&S calendar here Day by day. Told the husband I anticipate he’ll be waking up next to a woman who looks 25 on Xmas day. He told me he anticipates I’ll be furious if he does 🤣

thecatfromjapan · 03/12/2017 13:02

It's making Zoella's calendar look good. Shock

Funnel thing has really opened my eyes. We have a funnel in a kitchen drawer. We use it for decanting olive oil we buy in bit containers in Spain and Greece into smaller, useable bottles.

Never did it occur to me that I might use it to pour glitter over wet nailvarnish.

i have learned something, thanks to HoF and your intrepid and sharing nature, Cheese.

I thank you.

Cheeseandcucumber · 03/12/2017 12:23

Xmas Grin it's the gift that keeps on giving, isn't it?!

kwick you have 3 calendars Xmas Shock and not so much as a funnel between them? That's so sad. I can't remember a life without my funnel, don't understand how anyone copes funnel-free.

The mascara reminded me of the sort that would come with those doll heads - you know the sort for hairdressing/makeovers? Now the glitter has arrived I'm sure the calendar's audience is 5 year olds to gift to their dolls.

Door 4 is the same shape as the funnel and glitter door, maybe it's some glue/polish to actually stick the shit on after it's been carefully funnelled. It's all coming together! This time next month I'll be snazzy as hell.

That brand should rival MAC.

InfiniteSheldon · 03/12/2017 11:10

Shamelessly placemarking whilst swishing my shiny hair and pouting in a fetching shade of cherry

Fintons · 03/12/2017 11:05

😂🤣

Wow, £25 for this shit!!?

I was initially disappointed with my advent calendars (2 for £10, scented tea lights but it turns out only 5 different scents total) but given how cheap they were and how glad I am that I don't have a funnel I'm feeling pretty happy now!!

Microkitty · 03/12/2017 10:33

I didn't get a advent this year, glad I didn't now!!

LizTaylorsFabulousTurban · 03/12/2017 10:32

I lost it at "the size of a hamster's eye".

thegrinchreaper · 03/12/2017 10:26

I hate to break it to you but colour couture is their own make up brand, it's a colour couture calendar.
God knows what that funnel's all about though!

wasMissD · 03/12/2017 10:24

This thread's hilarious!! Xmas Grin

Maudlinmaud · 03/12/2017 10:22

That's bad. I'm disappointed with HOF but also Xmas Grin

PinkSquash · 03/12/2017 10:20

Oooh maybe the glitter is to be poured into the funnel and then onto the mascara? Glittery lashes anyone?

Whatthefoxgoingon · 03/12/2017 10:12

You lucky duck cheese! What grown woman doesn’t need a pot of glitter for Christmas?

kwick · 03/12/2017 10:06

@Cheeseandcucumber I am shamelessly joining your thread. I am getting so much excitement from hearing your daily updates... the three advents I have (ASOS, LF and M&S) pale into insignificance when counterposed with the splendidness of yours Envy

RJnomore1 · 03/12/2017 09:58

Hmm.

I looked at this online, decided it didn't look very good and went and bought the look fantastic calendar.

How I am regretting my hasty decision now.

Cheeseandcucumber · 03/12/2017 09:48

Just spotted day 11 is likely another funnel. I would share but I'd feel safer having a backup funnel just in case harm comes to the original.

Xmas Grin loving the idea of using the funnel to decant into a hip flask, unicorn. Very impressed with your ingenuity too claire, maybe HOF should take you onboard in the advent calendar design department!

Kit Xmas Grin the oddness of the door shapes are a whole other gift entirely. Could sit for hours guessing at these things!

I apologise for my tardiness. For some reason DD thought being on time for her dance class was more important than opening another door. She doesn't appreciate the finer things in life.

Day 3 may finally prove the answers to our funnel questions (maybe).

Day 3's offering is a pot of glitter. It is filled a third of the way and contains glitter particles the size of a hamster's eye. I'm not entirely sure they will fit through the funnel so I'm not ruling out other uses for the funnel appearing later on in the month.

After yesterday's confusion, I'm relieved today's gift comes with a descriptive label on the back. We all know how tricky it can be identifying glitter so HOF kindly saved us another half an hour sat around the table staring at the thing like we did yesterday.

It's another beauty from that well advertised, much coveted brand - Colour Couture. Getting myself a little collection going now and I can feel the jealousy seeping through the internet waves from you all Xmas Grin

I think number 23 is a bellow

KitNCaboodle · 03/12/2017 08:00

Haha Cheese... here’s hoping.
Door 3 is a similar size to door 2. Maybe we have another funnel so we can share the love with friends.

Hahahahaha
I was tempted by a beauty advent calendar but I decided that unless I spend £100+ (not going to happen) it would probably be full of cheap n nasties. I'm enjoying having a cheap n nasty vicariously through you more than I would be having the actual calendar!
