I don't know if this is the right thing to do, and I'm so sorry if not.

catthiefkeith passed away today.

I know there are mumsnetters who know her know how amazing she is, and I just wanted to raise a glass to her memory on here, where she brought a smile to so many faces with her stories of her mad life.

Rest in peace lovely lady.

I am just wondering that the justgiving link might get lost on this thread and people won't see it. Is there a separate topic for charity links where it could be a stand alone thread do you think?

MrsHathaway · 22/08/2017 09:53

Sadly reading this as I catch up on MN after time away. Another expecting CTK had been bereaved and wanted a handhold; another unprepared for the truth.

I think a meningitis awareness campaign would be an excellent idea and a fitting tribute. I'll also look out for the WH post when (if) it comes.

Thinking of the family. How absolutely devastating.

Soubriquet · 22/08/2017 09:05

Sad I've just seen this

Poor dh and dc. My thoughts are with you

RIP catthief

You will be missed Flowers

LondonNicki I understand your concern.

However, her husband is very aware that she used Mumsnet and I'm pretty sure he knew her username.

That said, it doesn't necessarily have to be linked back to her and her family. The second Just Giving page was set up for MNers to commemorate her and raise money for her family's chosen charity. This was only ever about us remembering her in a positive way. A way for MNers to let her 'know' what we thought of her without outing her to every tom, dick and harry with a public link to her family's Just Giving page.

It can remain a purely MN thing if needed. The important thing is money raised for vital research, education and treatment for Meningitis.

LondonNicki · 21/08/2017 23:58

Very sad to hear about CYk but I was just thinking that it may be damaging if any donation page references her username. Only because when I searched under her name on this site a threat came up where she was upset that her husband hadn't planned something for her birthday. I'd worry if he saw that he might be devastated. Can we please keep her posting private? She never expected them to be shared with her family so we should honour that. Thank you x

dontbesillyhenry · 21/08/2017 23:21

Horrible tragic news. Rest easy CTK X

MistyMinge · 21/08/2017 23:06

CTK was one of the first posters I started to notice when I started using mumsnet 5 years ago. She was so obviously well liked. How terribly sad. My thoughts go out to her family and friends

AlwaysLookOnBrightsideOfLife · 21/08/2017 22:55

Such terrible news. I always loved reading her posts and her stories always made me laugh.

Thoughts are with her friends and family at this sad time. Flowers

christinarossetti · 21/08/2017 22:49

Very, very sorry to hear this news.

Thinking of her husband and dd; can't imagine what they're going through.

GirlInTheDirtyShirt · 21/08/2017 22:09

Thanks SBG that is great. I'll donate tomorrow morning when I've got my credit card to hand.

PacificDogwod · 21/08/2017 22:06

Donated.
Thank you for setting it up, Baby.

slithy, would her DH gain some tiny bit of solace from the love expressed on this thread?
Like you, I cannot imagine what her family must be feeling Sad - and I don't even really know her.

BellMcEnd · 21/08/2017 21:51

Please pass on my love, slithy. She didn't live far from me.

derxa · 21/08/2017 21:02

I know this is irrelevant but it's lovely to see old timers on here.

slithytove · 21/08/2017 21:00

I miss her. I can't imagine how awful this is for her family. Someone like Keith passing is going to leave such an enormous hole.

I'll tell her dh about the mumsnet just giving page soon.

Donated. I wanted to mark the passing of someone who I never met, but brought me much joy.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 21/08/2017 20:32

Oh no how sad Sad

She was always wise and often funny

Condolences to her family and those close to her Flowers

mineofuselessinformation · 21/08/2017 20:31

Another one agreeing that her threads and this one should be preserved in some way for her family - I'm reporting my own post in a second to flag it up to MNHQ.

BellMcEnd · 21/08/2017 20:27

I posted earlier that my mum was the lucky recipient of one of Keith's legendary Janet and Roy Christmas round robins. She bloody loved it. It was so clever and so witty. I told her today about this awful news today (she's been away) like all of us she's so sorry for Keith's family.

I'm a HCP and have cared for many young people with meningitis. It's horrible. I agree that a MN Just Giving page is a great idea.

SweetBabyJebus · 21/08/2017 20:25

OK, the CatThiefKeith Just Giving page in support of the Meningitis Research Foundation has been set up here:

www.justgiving.com/fundraising/catthiefkeith

Let's make her proud. Flowers

TheMShip · 21/08/2017 20:19

Have only just seen this. Terrible news. She was such a bright funny personality.

ThomasRichard · 21/08/2017 20:00

SBJ I'd be up for that, thanks for organising.

Awful news. Her poor family :(

She always used to run the Janet and Roy Christmas threads. Later on we'll get this year's one up and running for her Flowers Mischief ctk style Star

PacificDogwod · 21/08/2017 19:55

RJnomore, great idea.

MNHQ, please consider making this tribute permanent.

PacificDogwod · 21/08/2017 19:55

Oh no! Sad
I've only just come across this thread.

CatThiefKeith was somebody I recognised and liked on MN.
She will be missed here and I can only try to imagine the depth of grief of those who knew her.
To her family, my deepest condolences, strength and light Thanks
