To ask for a round up of all the little MN in-jokes?

Mods, feel free to delete this if it's not okay!

I've been here some months now, and I've noticed a lot of little in-jokes around that come from old threads, some of which are in Classics, etc. Usually when I come across a reference that I don't recognize, someone is kind enough to explain it to me (and sometimes even link the original thread!) but I thought it might be nice, and kind of fun, to gather together as many as we can in one thread!

I'll start. The one that always sticks out to me is the one about the Mexican house thief. That's from this thread.

The other one that had me in absolute stitches was the saga of Sharon, the wasp, and the wine that never reached the carpet, which starts here, and apparently continues here with someone "t-rexing in the Asda"... Hysterical, I tell you.

I'm really hoping some long-time MNers will be along to link to such joys as "cancel the check"; "pom bears"; "Maui"; and the one where everyone MumsNetted as their toddlers :D

(I'm sorry if this is against some unwritten rule. It's not REALLY a thread about a thread, it's a thread about a lot of threads...)

There's something about Peter Andre but I have no idea what it is. Does anyone know?

Lostmyunicorn · 19/07/2017 19:38

I loved the one about the hair bobble plate that was stuck down behind the loo. I spent ages trying to work out how the OP could get the plate out...

Effendi · 19/07/2017 19:34

Two words: your minge
My God, I laughed and still do.

faithinthesound · 19/07/2017 19:30

I'm in Christchurch, and I'm fine, thanks! Safely tucked up in a nice warm bed (days off for my birthday) with plenty of food and liquor drink, Mumsnet for entertainment, and a stack of Asterix comics in case the power goes out! Smile

Thank you FruBayer, I love that thread, just because it was accidentally hilarious

Buggy thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_advice_tips/752184-hauck-stroller-pound-25-Asda* for you Nocabbageinmyeye*.

In fairness to the OP, it was back in the day before you could use colours to highlight OP's and your own posts. Although, unfortunately, she hadn't recognised that it was her own thread from 3 years (?) previously! I guess she NCd after that?

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 19/07/2017 19:21

I think one of the first ones I read that I actually kept up with (think it was last year as I was on mat leave) was the sushi thread where a work colleague would take the posters sushi out of the fridge to fill it with her shit everyday

GirlOnATrainToShite · 19/07/2017 19:21

I am looking to using JFGI Grin

Lweji · 19/07/2017 19:16

We're still waiting for that antique safe to be open. Was it Australia?

Nocabbageinmyeye · 19/07/2017 19:11

The one where the op asked a question about a buggy, got no replies, and then came back about three years later and mistakenly answered her own question, I cried it was hilarious

And the poo puoffe is hysterical!!

FruBayerischOla · 19/07/2017 19:02

I know, TheDuck, it only seems like a couple of years ago, at most Tardis

TheDuckSaysMoo · 19/07/2017 18:59

2013!!!! No way was gluezilla 4 years ago. Life is moving too fast.

The fly seat on the bus! Had me in tears laughing.

SukiPutTheEarlGreyOn · 19/07/2017 18:56

Thank you so much for this thread, faith! Despite being on here since my (now) giant DC were teeny I managed to have an uncanny knack of missing many of these wonderful threads. Thanks to you and the fab collective MN memorybank these references will no longer be a mystery and will also allow me to waste many a happy hour catching up.

Oh god, Pirate Sex is my all time favourite. We took the kids to see Pirates of the Caribbean recently and it's all I could think about!

FruBayerischOla · 19/07/2017 18:52

faithinthesound. There are four Gluezilla threads - as I linked above! They'll probably take you all night though!

HicDraconis · 19/07/2017 18:51

Happy birthday @faithinthesound - where in NZ are you? Hope you weathered the storm ok if you're north island! :)

originalbiglymavis · 19/07/2017 18:49

I remember sitting waiting for DS at a class with tears pouring down my eyes at some thread about poo in a sock. I ended up letting out a great big belly laugh and got the evils from some of the other mums. Must've been about 5 years ago.

FruBayerischOla · 19/07/2017 18:48

There was a hilarious thread a few years ago (I can't find it at the moment Blush). The OP's fiancee was in the Navy (?) and had gone out for his company's/crew's Christmas party in Portsmouth (?). It was fancy dress and he was wearing an Elf (?) outfit. Unfortunately he got a tad drunk and couldn't get his fancy dress outfit off before having a shit. He texted her - she was at home - to tell her what had happened.

She started a thread about it - it was so funny - wish I could find it!

faithinthesound · 19/07/2017 18:46

Keep them coming! This might end up being such a good roundup of the classics that it ends UP in Classics! (secret aspiration!)

There's a funny one on at the moment about someone's grandma who has a skull that her dad liberated from a french church in WW1 and she is keen to return it but worried about getting into trouble. Her dad set his own teeth into the jaws.

It's causing allsorts of amusement (and confessions). I can see 'skully' becoming a 'thing' on here.

faithinthesound · 19/07/2017 18:45

I HEARD about "your minge!" I cackled. It's one of those things, like pom bears, that don't sound like they'll be all that funny until you read them in context!

Welp, this was the best birthday present ever (my birthday is the 19th, I posted it when it was the 19th here in New Zealand, now I think it's the 19th in the UK). I'm off to read the Gluezilla thread now!!
