To have bought ds's teacher a giant kestrel?

I mean at least she won't get a duplicate and it make a change from 'best teacher' mugs?!

Asked ds what she liked - gardening apparently. DS's class is kestrel class so aha I thought. A little kestrel ornament for the garden. Except it is not little. No no. It is a gigantic genetically modified kestrel. Maybe she can put it at the bottom of the garden so it looks smaller?!

Lots of my friends are teachers. I wonder if any of them have a kestrel class?!

Lots of giraffes, you say? Well I never...
Love the idea of a 7yo staggering in under one of those practically-life-size giraffes.
I once got a thank-you card from a Brownie saying I'm "the best giraffe ever". Definitely the shortest, I imagine, at 5'4" Grin

Push it as being about helping children to bond, creating a coherent & positive group identity, and a sense of pride in the school [community].

Wa Hahahah it's like the fucking why bird.

ipswichwitch · 06/07/2017 22:43

It's awesome. I have a landmark birthday next month and just informed DH that the only thing that would make it bearable would be a Kestrel of Doom. He just looked at me like Hmm

SnowiestMountain · 06/07/2017 22:37

I'm not sure how I've missed this thread but he is INCREDIBLE!!!

Stillwaitingforsummer · 06/07/2017 22:24

Do you think I could take the idea of renaming classes to slt? My class is called class 4. Very inventive.

Stargirl82 · 06/07/2017 22:19

7 year olds**
Excuse typos. I'm tired, we've had a trip this week and reports in. I'm not functioning!

Stargirl82 · 06/07/2017 22:17

Zebraowl

Today I went on eBay for things for my class in the new year that were giraffe related. The possibilities are endless you are correct. Ill report back in 2 weeks in case one of my 7 years comes in with one of these.....

Hi folks,

Thanks for the classics nominations!

We're sending this over to the hall of fame now.

DeadDoorpost · 06/07/2017 01:42

This thread has cheered me up no end thank you.

Also, my nan would love a giant kestral. I may need to get one for her as a late bday present. And if not then for Christmas.

Madwoman5 · 06/07/2017 00:19

Wait for the post
Pupil bought me a kestrel, wwyd?

ZebraOwl · 06/07/2017 00:16

Pacific
I think some kestrel pics in the consulting room as a start... maybe you could knock up some fake tickets/info for a falconry day with a kestrel bit highlighted...

Oooh, I wonder if anywhere lets you "adopt" a kestrel - you could display its picture & certificate. Or maybe you could fake a kestrel!adoption - perhaps one abroad to prevent anyone trying to get one themselves... 🤔

Would the mini!Dogwods be amendable to drawing some Charming Kestrel Pictures for display? Obviously clearly labelled as kestrels (the "of doom" optional...) so nobody can mistake them & the subliminal messaging is more effective...

MrsHathaway · 06/07/2017 00:15

Well you clearly timed your return perfectly. Lovely to see you.

Icallbullshit3 · 06/07/2017 00:13

Definitely the best thread I've read in a while Grin

I'm a kestrels mum too, looking forward to seeing if this arrives in our school!

MrsHathaway · 06/07/2017 00:08

ZED!! Where have you BEEN?!

EnidButton · 06/07/2017 00:02

"Knock knock motherfucker."

Greenifer That cheered me right up. Grin For most of it I thought the giant chicken had 'Clarence' painted down the side of it so felt offended on the chicken's behalf that they were renaming him. Until I zoomed in and realised it said 'Clearance'.

moira123io · 05/07/2017 23:54

I'm a teacher and I would love a gift like that. So thoughtful! I think it's kind of cute..

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 05/07/2017 23:45

OP Guess what? this thread is now a article on Aunty Beeb's news site...

Just stop buying teachers shit they don't want. Wine and chocolate are totally reasonable gifts, your child means nothing to them and some personalised piece of shit will be in the bin before next term.

Kes won't end up in the bin. He wouldn't fit for a start.

Peppaismysaviour · 05/07/2017 23:30

Just a thought, what if said teacher was lumbered with kestrel as her class name and in fact has no understanding of bird species or what a kestrel in fact looks like. Then you are not handing over a gift that will have meaning to her but just a terrifyingly menacing metal bird.

MrsHathaway · 05/07/2017 23:22

Lots of naice stationery available on Amazon Prime at the moment. Nice board markers/ sticky notes/ notebooks etc.

And lots of booze on offer in the supermarkets.

We can't all be as epic as SilverLining...!
