To have bought ds's teacher a giant kestrel?

I mean at least she won't get a duplicate and it make a change from 'best teacher' mugs?!

Asked ds what she liked - gardening apparently. DS's class is kestrel class so aha I thought. A little kestrel ornament for the garden. Except it is not little. No no. It is a gigantic genetically modified kestrel. Maybe she can put it at the bottom of the garden so it looks smaller?!

""Children - here is our new class mascot, Wind-fucker the Kestrel of Doom"

Oh my goodness that made me laugh.

LongLostCherub · 04/07/2017 14:05

Mind you, OP, you do realise all the other parents, this year and for generations to come, are going to hate you with a fiery passion for raising the teacher present bar to such impossible heights?

SilverLining17 · 04/07/2017 14:04

Avian yard art Grin

Wind-fucker is metal. He's a conversation piece.

I have wind fucker Kestrel envy.

LongLostCherub · 04/07/2017 14:00

Is it sad that wind fucker has made my trivia loving day? This beats every useless nugget of intelligentsia my pub quiz coworker has ever dropped 'casually' into conversation and I can't bloody wait to silence him with it.
I take back everything I said about Kenneth being horrendous, it was pure sour grapes, he's a wondrous and fabulous specimen of avian yard art magnificence.

Starlight2345 · 04/07/2017 13:59

This made me smile even if you teachers doesn't.. I am a little sad my son's class is simply known by the teachers name.

TheSeaTheSkyTheSeaTheSkyyyyyy · 04/07/2017 13:59

I love it! If I was a teacher I'd appreciate that so much more than a mug or some other cliché gift! If she doesn't like it, you can pass it on to me Grin

UrsulaPandress · 04/07/2017 13:58

What is Kenneth made of?

I have a metal chicken and a metal Guinea Fowl of a similar ilk.

TheGonnagle · 04/07/2017 13:58

I am a teacher. This would utterly make my day.

alteredimages · 04/07/2017 13:54

I am struggling for gifts for DCs teachers this year and was going to do something crap like amazon vouchers, but now I know that what I really need is a big fuck-off kestrel garden ornament called wind-fucker. Thank God for MN.

Have you settled on a hat, a monocle or a mini bottle of (strong) booze for the accesories OP?

PenguindreamsofDraco · 04/07/2017 13:52

Krampus was a demon I think. That would suit him.

ShmooBooMoo · 04/07/2017 13:51

ShmooBooMoo · 04/07/2017 13:50

SilverLining17 · 04/07/2017 13:46

steppemum · 04/07/2017 13:43

I think he is fab

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/07/2017 13:43

The interwebs inform me that it is a male common kestrel.

Also known, in olden times, as a wind-fucker

en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/windfucker

I strongly feel that this important information should be included in the accompanying note

CantStandMeow · 04/07/2017 13:43

I don't have a garden - we live in a flat. He lives in a cupboard. I'm off to drag him out for his 5 mins of fame

LizTaylorsFabulousTurban · 04/07/2017 13:40

Oh God I love Mumsnet.

Emeraude · 04/07/2017 13:39

The worst gift is toiletries. I love everything I get normally and genuinely appreciate any parent who has thought about me, but toiletries go straight to a charity shop that is far away enough from school never to be discovered. Unless they happen to be posh ones, but that hasn't happened yet.

SilverLining17 · 04/07/2017 13:39

Were you thrilled with it cantstand ?

Does it live in your garden now?
