I'm going to be a grandfather! Woo hoo! They haven't tuppence to rub together, so there'll be 3 generations under one roof. Still, DD is doing well after the throwing stopped, he's working all the hours God sends, and with luck I shall see New Person into their teens, as opposed to my DF who got less than 7 years of DGF hood. Wish us luck.

God help us, he tried to do handstands. This hasn't gone well. Landed on his face, profuse nosebleed, covered everything in claret. DW facetimed at just the wrong moment to catch all three of them looking like serial killers. Oh, and just to make things really interesting, he's started using the N-word.

On the plus side, he takes himself to bed with help, undresses himself for bathtime (as long he gets the sleeves first go) and have given up crawling. More words, including "this one" for things he's holding, "that one" for distant things, and "funny" whenever he sees me.

He's 7.

You're lucky, with DS2 it's just food, any food. Actually, no, Tasmanian devil would describe him any time when he's not asleep.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 23/09/2018 23:42

Him, not the. Grr.

I think the pronoun your DD might be looking for is "he". As I said, I'm fairly sure Little Prince isn't actually possessed. Well, as long as you don't give the chocolate, and that's more a Tasmanian devil than a real one.

DD 11 said "Wow! It speaks and walks!" 😂

Just catching up via the Mumsnet memories thread.

So what's been happening? I used to be PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 23/09/2018 12:49

Still waiting for our buyer. Tsk.

When is the Great Move, Disgrace?

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 21/09/2018 23:02

DD and DGS have been down this week for her graduation. DGS is now 50/50 walking and crawling. However, after the ceremony (which he slept through) I nipped to the cathedral font for some holy* water, just in case. This was because you really don't expect someone who's not quite 13 months to walk into your bedroom and shout "Grandad! Get up!". However, he didn't fizz or vomit pea soup, so I suppose he's really that advanced. What interesting times we'll enjoy.

*C of E, so probably quite homeopathic.

SAY!!! Arghhh. I agree with you now! Grin

@DisgraceToTheYChromosome - just wing it & day you were posting in a Yorkshire accent Wink

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 07/09/2018 09:29

THE hard bit. Why is there no 15 minute edit FFS? Other boards manage fine with one.

The stove will be easy. The remote control for the kitchen, which resembles the bridge of the USS Enterprise: that'll be hard bit.

Great news! I predict it will be difficult to keep the Little Prince away from the woodburner though.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 03/09/2018 22:54

Got a buyer for ours, offer accepted on the one with the woodburner. Meanwhile, Little Prince is getting verbal, and shouting "TERRIBLE!" when thwarted. He's started walking, ish, although he prefers crawling still, at which he's very very fast.

MamaMilkMachine: have a hug. Silly people, to ignore a baby you can cuddle and have gurning contests with. As for DD, she thinks I'm pretty cool for an old git, despite (or more likely because of) the way we fought when she was a teenager.

@DisgraceToTheYChromosome Can you adopt me please? You sound amazing. My father has seen my daughter all of 4 times in 16 months! My mother the same. My child has no idea who any of her grandparents are. How lovely it would be to have a parent like you. I hope your daughter knows just how lucky she is Smile

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 29/08/2018 11:01

DSIL: "have you been giving him sugar?"

DD: "you came home from work, threw him into the air twice, and you wonder why he's hyper?". This with an expression I remember very well from my DM.

A wonderful read! Best wishes for the move Disgrace and birthday wishes for Mini. Hopefully the sugar rush has abated!

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 27/08/2018 20:35

It's been a lovely weekend. DGS has been cuddled half to death, at least two of his presents have no off switch ("WHAT ELSE IS 4 A.M. FOR?"), and I've had the enormous privilege of watching someone else dealing with a massive sugar high. Ooh yeah.

DW and I can't wait to move up. House sale is taking longer than we like, but there's places coming up all the time. Fingers crossed for Halloween beside a wood stove and a little boy staring raptly at the flames.
