I'm going to be a grandfather! Woo hoo! They haven't tuppence to rub together, so there'll be 3 generations under one roof. Still, DD is doing well after the throwing stopped, he's working all the hours God sends, and with luck I shall see New Person into their teens, as opposed to my DF who got less than 7 years of DGF hood. Wish us luck.

Disgrace oh how your story takes me back to the very special bond between my youngest DS when he was very little and my DF. It is still there to this day (they are now 86 and 28!) only now, instead of raspberry blowing lessons, they share pub crawls, and deep talks to which no-one else is privy. It is delightful to see. I wish you many happy years to come with your beautiful DGS, and look forward to your next utterly heartwarming post

This is such a lovely thread, makes me deeply miss my two wonderful grandpa's. Your DD is lucky to have a father like you, your little man is such a stunner. It's brought a tear to my eye and a smile to my face all at once.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 28/01/2018 22:15

One thing that's new, and that makes me feel useful, is feeding him. DD was ebf, so until DGS arrived I'd never given a bottle. Got the nappy changing skills back pretty quickly, especially after he widdled in my face 😂😂😂. I've learned not to let him chew my fingers though, his jaws are like a sheet benderShock.

This is a lovely thread Smile

So lovely and you are a brilliant grandad. I didn't have any grandparents and my children only had some of them briefly. They have lots of lots of lovely aunties though.
He's a lovely chap. Grin

Love this thread. Huge congrats.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 14/01/2018 12:58

For some reason I can't post pictures, so you'll have to wait for the "foot in mouth" and "handbag helicopter" pictures.

Oh gosh this is a gorgeous thread, and that picture in the box!!

paniconthestreetsofdreams · 07/01/2018 21:21

Lovely ❤️ lovely, lovely, lovely.

A joy to read.

Beautiful child and grandpa

SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad · 07/01/2018 21:12

Thank you so much Disgrace - for sharing your wonder and joy with us - and for giving us glimpses of your gorgeous DGS. I've come back to the thread every now and again to catch up. I too had a DGS this year - and oh the joy and pleasure that he's brought to us...! Happy New Year to you and your family Bear

I love that you measure his presents in cubic centimetres! Xmas Grin I bet that he and the giraffe are having a deep, philosophical conversation.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 25/12/2017 16:39

Evil: not sure. Slightly under a cubic metre, as far as I can judge. Right now he's chattering away to a plush giraffe.

QuietNinja: that's really sad. MiniDigrace has 3 granddads (one step) and a great granddad. We were queueing for cuddles earlier.

I hope you have a splendid day!

So how many presents did he get?

How sweet! Happy Christmas to you all-sounds like I could learn a lot from your young daughter about not interfering when dh does things 'differently'!

He is a very handsome boy 😃

Rubyslippers7780 · 25/12/2017 08:58

Have a wonderful christmas Xmas Smile

QuietNinjaTardis · 25/12/2017 08:52

This makes me feel a bit sad for my kids. I don't have a dad so no grandad on my side and my fil tolerates (barely) my kids/any of his grandkids. Luckily they have loving grandmas but they won't grow up with this sort of relationship and my fil has no idea what he's missing out on.
Hope you have a wonderful Xmas with your dc and grandson Xmas Smile

MrsGrindah · 25/12/2017 08:36

Merry Christmas to The Disgraces!

soupforbrains · 25/12/2017 08:33

This is the most beautiful and joyous thread of all threads.

You are the most wonderful GF and your GS is a beauty. Happy 1st Christmas minidisgrace! Welcome to the madness.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 25/12/2017 08:20

It isn't Christmas until you've climbed into the box! We're at the out laws, and Little Prince is being loved to death by his paternal DGPs, his uncles and the Labrador.
