The living room door and squeezy bottles that make fart noises.
Try and find anything more terrifying! Bet you can't Wink

Swearing! He hates it. He'll climb up on me and shake even if it's a simple I've forgotten something and mutter 'shit'.

taptonaria27 · 27/04/2017 21:04

Cling film
Kitchen foil
Bin liners

I am loving this thread, so funny!!

Nonibaloni · 27/04/2017 21:03

The butchers. Will not pass, on the other of the road he whimpers and cries and stays as far away as he can.

Once had to carry him past a butchers delivery van. He's a 36kg Lab Golden X. Thankfully there were no spectators because me DP and Dm must have looked a picture.

Fishmonger fine, leather shop fine, fresh paint fine so it's not a strong smell thing.

Missymoo99 · 27/04/2017 20:59

Farts!! GrinGrin

Ilovemyhotwaterbottle · 27/04/2017 20:51

Other dogs barking when she can't see them

jacquejacque · 27/04/2017 20:48

Stationary mopeds. Road works signs. Litter. Hats. Tinfoil. Horses. Falling leaves. Weird sticks. Pheasants. The car. Ear drops. Unattended feathers.

But fine with RAF flying over (multiple times a day), tractors going past and other bugger dogs who aren't very friendly. Hmm

User2468 · 27/04/2017 20:40

My bantams, three of the world's smallest chickens and my TERRIER won't come in the house if they're stood at the back door.

Floweringjasmine · 27/04/2017 20:38

The hoover and upturned recycling boxes, only upturned though, the other way round is perfectly safe.

Wolfiefan · 27/04/2017 20:38

Dishwasher. Especially if it has metal inner of slow cooker in it.
Barking dogs.
The wind.
Noise in general.
People. Well a lot of people.
Cats.
Mummy leaving.
Not being shut in her cage. (She's big so have a pen not a crate.) she can't sleep if the door is open.
I wouldn't mind but she's supposed to be a brave wolfhound! Grin

mirren3 · 27/04/2017 20:38

Mine is terrified of the big breath I take before I sneeze. The sneeze is fine but awake or sound asleep he panics when he knows a sneeze is coming. He's an extremely large labrador x coward 🐶

daisygirlmac · 27/04/2017 20:35

Laundry being hung out. Literally nothing else apart from when you shake something out when it's wet to get the creases out before hanging it up Hmm

MyLittleBoyBlue · 27/04/2017 20:34

Gunshots and fireworks.
Prosecco and champagne, just get the bottle out and she reverses out of the kitchen.
I wouldn't mind but she's a springer, from good working stock. Never even showed her the gun, never mind tried her out beating. Not worth the trauma. Poor lass.

JaneEyre70 · 27/04/2017 20:32

The nozzle attachments for the hoover. Makes him go crazy Grin

GlassSeahorse · 27/04/2017 20:28

Ladders. And mushrooms. If a mushroom falls into the kitchen floor it really upsets him and he'll bark at it until it's put in the bin.

GinAndOnIt · 27/04/2017 20:27

Oh Christ. Every bloody thing.

The wicker dog bed - it creaks slightly if he goes near it. Won't sleep in the same room as it, let alone in it.

The plastic dog bed - he once got in it with much persuasion and it moved slightly. Nope. No more plastic bed.

The dishwasher (whether it's on or not)

The hoover. The switched off Hoover. Won't enter the room it's in. Will whine if left in a room with it.

DP's friend saying 'squeak squeak'. Terrifying.

Our cat. He is pretty scary though.

Hot air balloons. Oh my god, the hot air balloons. Just the sound of the flame thing though. We have one set off in the field near to us fairly often early in the morning for the sunrise, and he will sit there a quivering mess.

A duck ornament. He has to bat it over as he walks past just incase it became real overnight.

The moon if it's bright. Has to be barked at.

Moving furniture slightly. Or moving rugs slightly. Ruuuuuun!

And yet, he's not scared of strangers at the door. He's not scared of DP's gun. He's not scared of big farm machinery. He's not scared of big dogs. I mean, all the things that could actually cause him harm. Nope.

bran · 27/04/2017 20:24

Next door's dachshund yapped at him and he ran away the other day. (He weighs about 19 kg so he's massively bigger than a dachshund.)

He scarpers if our ex-au pair sneezes, but he doesn't even twitch an ear if I sneeze.

He hides from the vacuum cleaner, unless I am in the room, in which case he will bravely and ferociously protect me from it. Grin

ToniMumsnet · 27/04/2017 20:10

Pubs.
She just whines and whines. Which really puts you off your Gin

SpareChangeDownTheSofa · 27/04/2017 20:09

Their own farts.

twinklehickorymoomoo · 27/04/2017 20:08

Oh god, so so much!
The dishwasher beeping
The smoke alarm
Frying food (as it often sets off smoke alarm)
Wrapping paper tubes
Buzzing noises
Carrier bags
Vacuums
Big bangs
Fireworks
Shooting
The broom
The little hand brush
Balloons
Kids on scooters
When baby 2 is drinking a bottle, as baby 1 had severe reflux and would projectile vomit after every bottle (sometimes over him)
The rain
And he's a big bad Staffy!!!

PovertyPain · 27/04/2017 20:04

Spiders. Seriously, what good is it letting a dog sleep on your bed, when he can't protect you from spiders? ☹️ I wouldn't mind, but one of the cats also sleeps on the bed and she's a wimp too!

On a less funny note, he's absolutely petrified of the floor brush. He's a tiny rescue dog and has a bent nose, damaged back and other problems, due to neglect and abuse. 😢

However, he's a fecking head the ball, when it comes to drills, lorrys going past, cement mixer, etc. The noisier, the better. He wants to play with them and he loves chasing the vacuum cleaner. 😆

whyIsARavenLikeAWritingDesk · 27/04/2017 20:02

Feet in black socks but only if you are walking he's not bothered if you are still.
Long sleeves if they cover your hands.
Oranges and lemons, a fruit bowl on the table keeps him off it.
Black labradors,I assume that is because one of his first experiences as a puppy at the vets was a black labrador giving him the sloppiest of kisses.
