AIBU to ask what is the thing you've done in 2016 that's made you proudest?

For me - despite being diagnosed with Cronh's disease, I carried on doing yoga classes all year. Now I'm looser, more relaxed, and a nagging shoulder pain from a 20 year car accident has gone.

What are you proudest of? It can be big, small or miniscule.

I finally reported my husband for domestic abuse after six years and had him arrested. Now me and my two boys are FREE!!

livingthegoodlife · 01/12/2016 18:35

I'm feeling a bit sad that I'm not sure I've achieved anything? I'm proud of my kids bit that's not really me. I must be proud of something surely?!

GreyBird84 · 01/12/2016 18:35

Got massively back into fitness & weight training. Was feeling good.

Then got pregnant 2nd round of clomid with much wanted DC2.

Seeing our renovation project progress - still slowly but a huge difference from last year.

After this DC I plan to lose the baby weight & get my fitness levels back - for good.

Well done. There's some great achievements here.

Mine is running a half marathon. I couldn't walk for a few years and have gradually learnt how to do it again over the last 2 years and run again Grin

ispymincepie · 01/12/2016 18:27

Kept my baby exclusively on breastmilk for six months solely by pumping as he was unable to latch. I also gave birth to him at home without any pain relief or midwife. I know it's not very mumsnetty but I am very proud of that, it was such an empowering experience.

braceybracegirl · 01/12/2016 18:25

Feetheart I want to start running again but had terrible shin pain before how can I find a running group with a coach? Sorry for hijack!

myfavouritecolourispurple · 01/12/2016 18:25

Nothing, although I did a charity bike ride with work, but it was more of a jolly really, although we did have to cycle 100 miles a day for 3 days.

Otherwise, nothing much. I had a ballot place to do next year's London marathon and wimped out; so a pretty useless specimen really.

I voted Remain too - much good that did me. There are a couple of silver linings, my mortgage is paid off, I have an EU qualification (as long as Ireland stay in the EU!) and have Estonian e-residency so there is a little bit of Brexit insurance in place.

Oh just thought of another sporting one, I won a series prize at a local series of races because I ran them all.

ragz134 · 01/12/2016 18:21

Passed a chemistry gcse exam with only 5 months learning at home from books and YouTube. Got into uni, started my nursing degree!

Salzundessig · 01/12/2016 18:14

Had a Vbac and made it to six months breastfeeding despite undiagnosed (or late diagnosis by me) tongue tie.

feetheart · 01/12/2016 18:09

Taking a Leader in Running Fitness course and helping with my running club's beginners course. Seeing 'my' group graduate at parkrun after 12 weeks was rather emotional.
I am currently half way through coaching another group of beginners and this time it is a paid position :)

minipie · 01/12/2016 18:08

Got out of the baby stage forever. Done it without getting divorced, fired or murdering a DC

Ok admittedly not exactly a positive achievement but given the lack of sleep and medical issues it feels like an achievement!

justwanttoweeinpeace · 01/12/2016 18:05

I changed careers. I'm only just at the very beginning of my new path but I'm so happy!

tiej · 01/12/2016 18:01

Replaced my DD's floor edging and mitred the corners beautifully.

Chucked the hair dye and embraced the grey.

Bauble16 · 01/12/2016 18:00

Just about beat my 10 year struggle with anxiety disorder and depression :)

HairyScaryMonster · 01/12/2016 17:59

Started couch to 5k. I ran for 20mins solid yesterday! I was puffed after 1 min 6 weeks ago!

Mulberry72 · 01/12/2016 17:57

Finally admitting that I did need counselling after my beautiful DM passed away, as I struggle to cope and don't leave the house except for the afternoon school run. Allowing my amazing DH into my headspace and letting him help me.

braceybracegirl · 01/12/2016 17:55

Had my braces fitted. After 20 years of wanting it done. Worked really hard and got a well earned promotion. And proud of my kids for continually being ace and happily going to school. Next year aim is to get fit. Oh and I've also lost 18 pounds in weight but that's due to having braces fitted teeth removed etc!!!

ninnypoo · 01/12/2016 17:55

Work has been great this year and I am proud of all I have achieved.

But honestly, I'm most proud of how I have carried on after DP moved to London. In April he announced he'd been headhunted for an internal promotion and might have to move, in May he decided to go for it and he moved out not long after. I've had to give up our flat we had lived in and loved together (couldn't afford the rent), move in with a stranger, cope with a long distance relationship and generally just face grown up life 'alone'. I have been very very sad at times (I know that it is a bit of a pathetic problem) but I have coped and carried on with life and kept moving forward.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/12/2016 17:52

I left my unhappy marriage.

ChipInTheSugar · 01/12/2016 17:52

Passed my MA and have found enough belief in myself to apply for a PhD.

FurbysMakeSexNoises · 01/12/2016 17:51

I am pursuing a new and very interesting part time job to add the others and am very excited about it- purely through my own research and enthusiasm.

I have started baking bread by hand and am looking into bee keeping!

EverySongbirdSays · 01/12/2016 17:46

After many years of wanting to do it, I have finally bitten the bullet and had enough courage to apply for an MA for 2017 which will hopefully lead to my lifetime desired career..

PrincessMortificado · 01/12/2016 17:43

La la la la not listening ...

Please let's keep Brexit and President Shitface off this thread. It's nice to hear stories of everyone's years.
