I slept with my best friend last night

and now I have no idea what to do Blush

We haven't spoke to each other since last night as we've both been working today but I'm not sure if I should contact him first or should I wait for him to contact me?

I don't know what he thinks about it and whether he thinks it meant something or it was just a casual one night stand. I'm not even sure I know tbh Blush

Should I mention this to him or just forget it ever happened and continue on as normal?

I wish I had the bottle to explain how I feel about a very good friend of mine to her face and see things progress like they did for you last night ! - I hope this works out for you I really do

kimhp · 26/10/2016 17:49

It needs to be dealt with.
I slept with my best friend and it made us both realise we had feelings for each other. over the period of 12 years on and off we both didn't talk about it and continued to bat between lovers and friendship and ultimately ended in both of us getting hurt and loosing each other.
Although I'm happily married I miss him.
Don't loose him. Even if it was a "mistake" friendships mean so much more!

Freeda86 · 26/10/2016 17:45

getting rid of that tension is healthy.
Been there and done that and it was a really positive move.

We knew it sort of had to happen. (it was AMAZING)
however, we were both able to step back and look at it, realising that we were not meant for each other in that way (we did it again...you know, to be sure)

We are still best friends, both married (both partners are aware as well)
Would hate to attend camping holidays etc and still have that tension between us

Anz, you have missed quite a bit!

Nice one OP, I recently celebrated 20 yrs of marriage with my best friend...

LittleTripToHeaven · 26/10/2016 17:36

Haha, not read the full thread, Anzuham Wink

Catsize · 26/10/2016 17:36

Grin Anzuham. May I boldly suggest at least reading the OP's posts?

NameChange30 · 26/10/2016 17:35

I know it's a long thread, people, but at least read the OP's posts!

Anzuham · 26/10/2016 17:29

May I suggest not to contact him because if he wants something to happen, HE is going to contact you because he's a man after all. Men are hunters. Women like to think and talk but men are very different from us as we all know! I know it's really difficult to ignore this but trust me, if he feels something about it, he will definitely chase you! On the other hand, if he doesn't contact you, then he's not even your friend anymore I'm afraid...and at least you'll know where to stand! Good luck!

thatsnotmyusername · 26/10/2016 17:24

This happened to me. 12 years ago this month. I am now making tea for our 2 DS' and sorting out our takeaway tonight. 10 years of marriage and we are still as much in love and still best friends Smile

Nice one OP FlowersWine

Craigie · 26/10/2016 17:14

Why is it up to him? What do you want? Take control of your own life.

I think you worry too much.

When we are open and honest about our feelings it leaves us feeling vulnerable and exposed. That is why you suggest pretending it didn't mean anything... even though it does?

You say he is your "best friend" - well if that isn't a great foundation for a full-on relationship I don't know what is. Feel the fear and do it anyway!

TallRedhead · 26/10/2016 16:22

We are a soppy bunch.
Lovely thread Flowers

Just went through all the emotions in about 15 mins reading this thread.

Flowers OP. I hope you'll be very happy together. My best fiend I met in college, and have been with for 8years now. Complicated and took us long enough to get together! but we've been engaged 3 years with a DD now.

glassinpocket · 26/10/2016 15:54

I'm another one that got together with a mate. I could try and dig up the thread as I posted about it one here.

God I love him more than anything. Best. Decision. Ever.

Ginkypig · 26/10/2016 15:54

See you've done it now!

We are all excpecting regular updates on how this relationship progresses and half the posters have done a cilla aka blind dates and bought a hat Grin
