With a human skull in the garden?

Slippersandacuppa · 07/05/2016 20:45

Because I've never been in this situation before.

We've been tidying up the garden and have piles of rubble all over the place. One of our rickety old fences borders a graveyard (very old belonging to ancient church) and I'm assuming the skull sort of drifted under our fence and has been near the top of the soil for a while. I hope.

I've googled but can't seem to find much info. I'll be contacting the parish council on Monday but wondered if it warrants a call to 101 (or whatever it is) to register it just in case it's not a graveyard wanderer Confused

Anyone had a similar experience?!

Absolutely no way I wouldn't have investigated what was behind that wall by now. You owe it to us to get a torch and camera in there asap!

SilverBirchWithout · 11/05/2016 11:33

Could you not send over the gap, a small child attached to a rope?

Do get them to put on a cycle helmet first. Because safety is important

Natsku · 11/05/2016 11:30

I assume you then opened up the entrance to the air raid shelter and turned it into a mini rave room SoupDragon because if you didn't....

SoupDragon · 11/05/2016 11:26

FFS. The bed frames were metal, not the bunker. That's chiselled out of solid chalk and brick lined)

SoupDragon · 11/05/2016 11:26

You only need to take out one block so you can fit a camera through. It'll be fine.

I once dangled my digital camera through a hole in the roof of the underground bunker in my garden to see what it was. (Metal air raid shelter with bunk bed frames in it apparently)

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 11/05/2016 11:21

So you'd have no house - but we'd know what was there. That's clearly more important.

Considers plan to buy a house with a cellar and block part of it off for no reason just to stump future MNers

Natsku · 11/05/2016 11:21

I'll swap houses with you then, I'll unbrick that cellar! (Just a big enough hole for me to crawl through so I don't make the house tumble down)
In exchange you'll get a modern house with excellent insulation and its own sauna Grin You'll have to put up with random children ringing your doorbell every half an hour though asking if your kids are home to play with.

IfTheCapFitsWearIt · 11/05/2016 11:20

Ooo could you get torch and pear over the top of it? Looks like there's a gap.

Get a sledgehammer, your insured right? GrinWink

aSkullByAnyOtherName · 11/05/2016 11:17

You horrible lot. You'd send me down there without backup??

Natsku I used to live in a modern house with no graveyards or excitement and I'm beginning to miss it.

I've taken a photo

Natsku · 11/05/2016 10:51

I'm really gutted now that I live in a modern house with no graveyards/cellars/mysterious places nearby :( No exciting discoveries for me.

IfTheCapFitsWearIt · 11/05/2016 10:48

Unboard the tunnel Skull

It'll be fine!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/05/2016 10:27

Ok, the tunnel has to be unboarded.

RedOnHerHedd · 11/05/2016 10:24

Chanting: Do it, do it, do it!!

RedOnHerHedd · 11/05/2016 10:23

Hoping OP has disappeared to the cellar to unboard the tunnel and take photos/videos of what she finds.

Elledouble · 11/05/2016 10:22

UNBOARD THE CELLAR! We're all behind you. Metaphorically Wink

I bet the boarded up area is the start of the tunnel!

SoupDragon · 11/05/2016 07:33

I'll volunteer for cellar unboarding duty!

Natsku · 11/05/2016 07:16

My DD would be very impressed with your party trick Ouriana she's obsessed with skeletons!

I could not have a boarded up place in a cellar without immediately investigating - clearly read too much Enid Blyton books but its bound to lead to an adventure!

Yawninghippo · 11/05/2016 07:05

Lieutenant Ligament reporting eagerly for grim duty! Grin

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 11/05/2016 06:49

A boarded up area in the cellar?? This is going to be like the Victorian safe again isn't it?

HelenaJustina · 11/05/2016 06:40

Silver we must be pretty local to each other, we can car share to the dig/cellar excavation garden party.

Surely we definitely don't need a permit to do the cellar? I've got a head torch I can bring...

If the police are involved with YS skull and especially the member of the constabulary who 'looked you up and down', when they visit next ask them to investigate the cellar/tunnel. You never know there might be smugglers.

SilverBirchWithout · 10/05/2016 23:44

Just think of the fun of using the tunnel and popping up behind the vicar during a service and making him/her jump. Grin

You are, (I guess) about 40 miles north of me here in Oxfordshire. Right in the heart of English Civil War territory. I wonder if that's when the tunnel was created?
