With a human skull in the garden?

Because I've never been in this situation before.

We've been tidying up the garden and have piles of rubble all over the place. One of our rickety old fences borders a graveyard (very old belonging to ancient church) and I'm assuming the skull sort of drifted under our fence and has been near the top of the soil for a while. I hope.

I've googled but can't seem to find much info. I'll be contacting the parish council on Monday but wondered if it warrants a call to 101 (or whatever it is) to register it just in case it's not a graveyard wanderer Confused

Anyone had a similar experience?!

Just caught up on today's part of this thread. So, we now have everything we need, including obligatory H&S killjoy officer (you do know that bugs LOVE those hi viz jackets don't you?

Also where do we get the archaeologists hats, you know the ones with the brim all the way round?

Anyway...
Meanwhile, somewhere under OPs drive/tunnel...

What could possibly go wrong, eh?

CatThiefkeith · 11/05/2016 17:06

AFAIK it's still there SoupDragon. Maybe we should all rock up the The White Horse and excavate it while we are waiting for news of Yorrick.

I'm sure the current landlord wont mind. Grin

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 11/05/2016 14:55

I have a hiviz vest I can bring along for the H&S supplies

SoupDragon · 11/05/2016 14:48

all he found was a wall of solid earth

But what was behind the wall of earth! He should have dug it out and kept digging. If only he'd been on MN...

SilverBirchWithout · 11/05/2016 14:31

Helena I can certainly step-up to that plate and square that circle.

RattieOfCatan · 11/05/2016 14:27

This is brilliant Grin Poor Yorick all alone at the police station though :(

I remember when I was a kid they had a few buildings demolished in Colchester near the town centre and found various interesting bits. So they opened it up to the public whilst the archaeologists were working, it was pretty cool. I lived down the road and my Mum was always finding out about things like that, I remember going to a few of these "open digs" over the years where people had discovered "something" in demolitions or when building and they had to get archaeologists in.

CatThiefkeith · 11/05/2016 14:15

I used to live in a pub with a bricked up archway in the cellar. My dad knocked a hole in it to see if there was a tunnel behind it and all he found was a wall of solid earth. Twas very disappointing.

HelenaJustina · 11/05/2016 14:13

Vital to have H&S on board, as long as you are also fluent in corporate-speak Silver I think you'll be a tremendous asset, logistically speaking, going forward and downward

SoupDragon · 11/05/2016 14:01

now I think of it

It's amazing how these underground crypts get forgotten about... :o

SilverBirchWithout · 11/05/2016 13:59

As H&S monitor can I also recommend knee pads and a sturdy stick? It might also be kinder to provide a torch and lashings of homemade lemonade and cake.

I was wondering what task I could volunteer for at the dig/picnic/garden party/knees-up, I think I have found my niche as a H&S risk assessor.

I could bring my own clipboard and bossy nature.

I am very disappointed with my boring garden now. I took up the decking, no bomb shelter and created a border, no bodies -tons of massive pebbles that were a nightmare to dig out mind you Angry

Natsku · 11/05/2016 12:36

I'd be quite willing to send some of the local kids to investigate cellars/bomb shelters, I'm sure they'd be up for it.

SoupDragon · 11/05/2016 12:12

He accepts payment in cold hard cash or copious amounts of pizza :o he's usually quite amenable to the strange things I ask him to do...

Nice to see you have provided your child with adequate protection :) or at least it makes it looks like you've had a go - depending what's there and what happens, it might be woefully inadequate.

aSkullByAnyOtherName · 11/05/2016 12:09

Oops

How does she know obviously

aSkullByAnyOtherName · 11/05/2016 12:08

I'll pay your teen handsomely if he/she comes to check out what lurks within.

Look how I found DD after I'd read your last comment set of instructions. She's only four so I'm assuming she doesn't have her own MN account.

In my defence, that is the far far end of the lawn that I rarely get to before I'm bored with mowing. One year the grass was taller than the cat, and he's not a small cat. I would have taken a long range photo but then everyone would see that the sheer drop down to the underworld has a slide over the top and that I am a shit, lax parent (no SmallDragons ever fell off it!).

I could perhaps send an intrepid teen into the Underworld at the weekend. It was quit small and unremarkable down there when I looked several years ago.

I think it must be. At least there is a child I haven't seen for a good few years now I think about it...

Not realy, I'm not that shit a parent. DS2 keeps saying he is going to clear it out "this summer". This year I may force him to do it. I want to build a log cabin over the top so it has a cellar :o when the children were small, I planned to build pirates ship decking over it with a trap door leading into the dungeon. It never happened andnow they are all too old.

aSkullByAnyOtherName · 11/05/2016 11:51

That is very cool Soup Is that what's left of the small child you sent down to investigate?

I will endeavour to take a photo for you all. Coz I'm nice like that.

SoupDragon · 11/05/2016 11:41

I really must mow the lawn...

Into it

Fucking autocorrect.

SoupDragon · 11/05/2016 11:37

Well, I did dig up the brick built steps leading down into unit, yes. Then I put my back out and couldn't clear out the rubble. Now I think it has bastarding foxes living in it and I'm too scared to go down there :o
