With a human skull in the garden?

Because I've never been in this situation before.

We've been tidying up the garden and have piles of rubble all over the place. One of our rickety old fences borders a graveyard (very old belonging to ancient church) and I'm assuming the skull sort of drifted under our fence and has been near the top of the soil for a while. I hope.

I've googled but can't seem to find much info. I'll be contacting the parish council on Monday but wondered if it warrants a call to 101 (or whatever it is) to register it just in case it's not a graveyard wanderer Confused

Anyone had a similar experience?!

I'd say your DS will get a reduced sentence, on account of his ages, so don't worry too much if it dates less than 4 years.

saffronwblue · 08/05/2016 10:17

Great for ds to think you have the police on speed dial for future behaviour.

Pigeonpost · 08/05/2016 10:16

Ooooh, this is getting good! Proper CSI! Grin

Ooh when forensics furn up in their full white suits the curtains will be twitching. Does your town have a FB Spotted page? You will be all over it.Grin

Slippersandacuppa · 08/05/2016 10:14

What if the county's archaeologist dates it as only four years old? It's got my dna all over it! And DSs 😳

They're here. I left the husband outside answering questions and come in to 'make tea' update you all

Two police officers. One talking on his shoulder phone thing. Referred to CID and crime scene team, who will most likely want to come out and take photos, gather evidence.

Worked out well as DS1 was about to thump DD so we told him about the handcuffs, tasers etc.

Poor old YS. He's just sitting in his box wanting to be reunited with his body. The closest tombstone appears to say Neil but we can't be sure.

This'll make the neighbours talk!

Slippersandacuppa · 08/05/2016 08:47

teastory I'm glad I didn't read that last night

Have just spoken to police lady. She put me on hold to talk to her supervisor as they don't come across this situation much. She asked all our details, whether it appeared old, where it is now (she told me to keep it somewhere safe and sensible) and she's sending someone out. (He's still in the box)

She giggled and said it isn't a matter of urgency but someone will come out today or tomorrow.

I'll keep you posted.

Oh, and I might have told her his name by mistake Blush

Maybe DS1 did return it to the garden... But it came back!

I'd love a human skull Blush

I gave my brother a sheep's skull for a birthday present once. He is an artist and loved it, it features in quite a few of his pictures Smile

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 08/05/2016 07:21

What time will you be calling 101? (What time shall I check back later!)

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 08/05/2016 02:04

We used to have a skull at school in the art department. It was called Kylie.

DementedUnicorn · 08/05/2016 00:57

MyNewBearTotoro · 08/05/2016 00:23

I'd love to see a photo of Yorick all tucked into his box for the night :)

I agree a hot water bottle and blanket, maybe a teddy bear to give him some company.

Keep him in the box for the night. Perhaps a hot water bottle and a blanket? I feel quite fond of him after reading the thread.

elephantoverthehill · 08/05/2016 00:04

I think Yorick will slumber happily in the box inside the house.

Slippersandacuppa · 07/05/2016 23:57

Update:

YS is only still IN THE BOX!

I went to move it when locking up and it was too heavy to be just cardboard. Lifted up the lid and there he is. Flippin' fudge cakes.

I asked DS1 to put him back (was busy putting t'others to bed) but he quite clearly got sidetracked by the Lego helicopter he's designing. He's a daydreamer. They obviously have similar weighting in his brain Hmm

So what do I do now??? Can he stay in the box in our hall? Would he rather be outside given that's where he's spent the last few decades/ centuries?

I just didn't expect this when I woke up this morning.
