Sing the end bit of International Playboys. Can't help myself, it just comes out.

Go on then people. Out irrational odd habit that one....

wheresthat- I also do the 'banana in my ear' thing. I think it was an old joke but I can't remember how it went. I once said this to DH when we were about to eat at a wedding (he was trying to tell me something which was probably utterly irrelevant but I couldn't hear him over the chat/music). A small child nearby heard me, walked around me staring intently (presumably to check both my ears for evidence) then (I assume when no bananas were found) gave me the filthiest look I have ever seen. This has only made me say it more.

Wheresthattomoibabber · 01/05/2016 08:33

Also do some from Radio Active (which no-one has ever heard of). When moving furniture "up your end jim". When planning a trip "look out for the mullioned windows".

Also whenever anyone says "I can't hear you" my family respond with "there's a banana in my ear". Can't remember what it's from though.

Wheresthattomoibabber · 01/05/2016 08:24

Whenever we sit down for dinner with the in-laws and everyone's deciding where to sit I always have to say "how about we go boy, girl, boy, Maggie (mil)". From Peter's Friends.

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 01/05/2016 05:14

I resisted the urge to ask Hugh what an Ackman was when he came on for a webchat. Took quite a lot of effort.

Doinmummy · 01/05/2016 02:52

If anyone says 'I've got a feeling ....' I am compelled to give a wooooo hooooo as per the Black Eyed Peas.

At work I have to take a reading of the Exposure Index which we shorten to EI . I cannot say it without adding EI EI O.

winningticketholder · 01/05/2016 01:09

Anyone else find Technotronic's Pump up the Jam fits the supermarket check out beat perfectly?

winningticketholder · 01/05/2016 00:57

Oh I also use the benny hill soundtrack to ease tension when in midst of rushing about or traffic craziness etc.

winningticketholder · 01/05/2016 00:55

I am compelled to use "to me, to you" whenever manoeuvring stuff, have frequent mentions of yipeekiyay, Schwing, and whoop whoop (da sound of da police) in my inner monologue.

Have trouble resisting the urge to say "faster faster" to runners coming from the opposite direction and think "hey must be the money" to any hint of whinginess. Often ask "who leeves in a house lika theeese" when we get home

Everyone in my house has their own song made up to the tune of Copacabana, 3 is the magic number, the saturday song features widely especially on saturday - it's a saturday (etc).

DD knows the correct response to "I used to shout across the room to you" complete with air guitar, I regularly walk in through the out door and you know I was born ready mother fucker.

The music in my head never stops so there is a lot more but it is getting a bit much seeing it written down...

PerpetualMotion · 30/04/2016 23:22

Whenever Hugh Jackman is mentioned, DH will prompt me with "what's an Ackman?". The correct response is (in an Australian accent): "I dunno, but his is huuuuge".
If DH isn't around I'll tell it as though it's a joke. Don't think anyone's laughed yet.
Except me, obviously.

Fiderer · 30/04/2016 22:42

I go up & down loads of flights of stairs a day at work, spend more time on my feet than sitting.

As the day goes on when I'm climbing the final flight I often start singing:

I am tired, I am weary
I could sleep for a thousand years
A thousand dreams that would awake me
Different colors made of tears

(Velvet Underground)

flower76 · 30/04/2016 22:34

And 'pyjama time' in the style of mc hammer 'hammer time' !

flower76 · 30/04/2016 22:30

Every time I cross the road!

flower76 · 30/04/2016 22:29

I do the Tetris one too! But when I cross the road!

amysmummy12345 · 30/04/2016 22:21

Whenever I move something like a large piece of furniture I have to say "to me... To you... Silly me.... Silly you" a la the chuckle brothers Hmm

BonitaFangita · 30/04/2016 21:48

If we're eating food that very spicy we say 'Oh mamma, too spicy!'
when I'm put on hold on the phone at work and it's that plinky plonky music I pretend to play along on my keyboard. If it's that Mozart allegro I have to sing along with the SImpson's song 'Tooting out of my bum, bum buuum!'
I have to admit, I'll make songs out of most thing, my son has a theme tune and so does my husband, my dearly departed pet dog used to have his own theme tune too. It's usually thier name to the tune of 'No Limits'
I am so weird!!

helzapoppin2 · 30/04/2016 21:39

If someone says "No peace for the wicked", I always recall the waiter in an Italian
Restaurant a gazillion years ago who replied "You shouldn't be so bloody wicked!"

FrizzyMcFrizzface · 30/04/2016 21:38

Whenever I eat/buy Chicken tikka 'sing a new song chicken tikka' followed by a loud 'harrumph' fart noise and silly air piano playing!

When there are roadworks me and DH erupt into 'Dig up the road!' in our best Mr Bull voices.

This will totally out me but in DT lessons at school when the teacher mentioned 'axle' we would whisper loudly hail 'Rose'.

On the news I cannot resist doing: Kabul capsule, President Armoured Dinner Jacket (even though he's not any more) and more recently Aleppo - a leper Blush

When anyone on a decorating show mentions period colours I have to say 'she wanted to give the room a period feel'.

I know there are loads more as I am completely off my rocker but it's all I can think of for now Grin

NorksAreMessy · 30/04/2016 21:26

When loading the supermarket conveyor belt or the boot of the car, have to sing the Tetris theme...and Tetris all the stuff as well

hudyerwheesht · 30/04/2016 21:19

Every time I make spaghetti and meatballs DH has to say "now that's a spicy meatball!!" a la Jim Carrey in The Mask.
Every. Single. Time.

Now the DC do it too. Hmm

elvisthehamster · 30/04/2016 21:16

I also remember that when we were young My mum , dad , sister and I had to sing the theme tune to Poirot as doo de doo de doo oh Poirot, oh Poirot the whole way through!

elvisthehamster · 30/04/2016 21:14

I always say Pig after 'That 'll do' which can sometimes cause unintended offense.

If anyone ever says Instanbul DH and I shout out 'Constantinople'.

I also used to have a manager called Donald , I had to stay away from him as often as possible as all that was going around in my head was 'Donald Far's your troosers' and I was really scared I was going to sing it out loud!

YvaineStormhold · 30/04/2016 21:11

I do that too, Sukebind

Inexplicably I often blurt 'egg pie!' to blot out an embarrassing memory Confused

You can imagine how well that works.

whifflesqueak · 30/04/2016 20:58

sukebind I thought it was only me!

Dawncleo62 · 30/04/2016 20:47

"Porchester Crematorium, Chief Stoker speaking" when I have an unknown number ring me

Sukebind · 30/04/2016 20:25

Also, if I think of an embarrassing memory I have to say something random out loud to get rid of it. Even if I am walking down the road or am in a supermarket. Usually it's, 'I love you!' which makes it all worse. Sometimes it's, 'Vile!' or 'I am so stupid!' Blush
