the worst thing I have ever done due to child induced fatigue

I feel awful about this. DS had me up a lot last night as a result I got a maximum of 4 hour sleep, as a result I am bordering on exhausted, particularly with the other one just back at school.

Anyway we went out for a walk this morning to a park which is a good 15 minutes by car. I got home, went to get him out and realised I hadn't strapped him - I had been driving down an A road at 50 and he wasn't strapped him. I still feel awful about it. I think it is probably the worst thing I have ever done. We are snuggling up on the sofa now and resting. Has anyone else ever done similar? Also, how is it people manage to not be dopy when they are so tired?

My classic one was handing the bottle of beer to the baby and the bottle of milk to dh. Kids thought it was hysterical.

At my tiredest I forgot dd's name. An old lady at the bus stop asked what the little girl holding my hand was called and I couldn't remember.

I also missed an important meeting at work because I thought it was Sunday when it was Monday.

I once made myself a lovely cup of coffee, with gravy granules. Was a third of the way through until I noticed. finished drinking it anyway

Went to work with a dried up spaghetti hoop stuck to the back of my top. No one told me until I was on the bus home.

Didn't strap DS in the buggy, cue him falling out and grazing his forehead.

Dropped both babies while holding them in the bath

ThomasRichard · 08/09/2015 18:01

Strapped the baby into the car seat but not strapped the car seat into the car.

Left the baby by the side of the road in the car seat.

Forgot to pick up older DC from school.

Put my breakfast in the fridge with the milk.

Put my dirty washing in the oven/bin.

Got annoyed because the baby's parents weren't seeing to her in the middle of the night. Eventually got out of bed and sorted her out. Returned to bed before remembering she was my baby.

Drove to the old office, several times.

Pre-heated the grill instead of the oven (many, many times).

Tried to lock/unlock the house with my car key button.

RedBushedT · 08/09/2015 17:59

I have strapped both of mine into the baby car seat when they were little, and then forgotten to strap the car seat into the car... Blush
Have gone out of the house twice now, once for three hours, leaving the front door wide open. Luckily no one went in, except my neighbour from over the road, who went in after two hours thinking it was a bit odd... He closed the door for me, bless him.
Been in work for several hours with baby mucus down my top. No one told me, I discovered when washing my hands. Cringe!

I once fell asleep whilst walking with the pram. I stumbled and woke with a jump. I was pushing a double buggy containing a 3 month old and a 6 month old, and had a toddler walking at the side (foster mum).

Fell asleep when I was supposed to pick up DC1. I pretended I had been stuck in traffic.

Once with DC1 I was so tired that when she fell asleep in the pram I lay down on the pavement next to her and seriously considered going to sleep. It was raining quite heavily. I blame all those "sleep when she does" idiots who clearly never had a child who would only sleep in the pram.

jonicomelately · 08/09/2015 17:47

Mermaid I was also regularly forgotten. I spent hours waiting outside the school only to realise nobody was coming for me. I too am unscarred by the experience Grin

Hackersschmakers · 08/09/2015 17:44

I left my shopping on the check out in sainsburys.

I fed one baby twice and not the other one (twins) and could not figure out for about an hour why she would not stop howling.

Put the dog's dinner in the microwave instead of my dinner.

The thing that really pisses me off is now that they are 4 and sleep wonderfully, I CANT BLOODY SLEEP. I think I am broken forever.

SouthernComforts · 08/09/2015 17:40

I once organised a babysitter so I could go to an appointment. Dd was asleep and I left babysitter with the monitor downstairs.

I was only gone half an hour and when I got back the sitter said she hadn't heard a peep from dd.

Not surprising given dd was actually at nursery Blush

I never told the babysitter, I'm just glad she didn't go to check on her!

Also made many cups of coffee without boiling the kettle, put phone in fridge etc.

I'm glad the baby days are over!

WeAllHaveWings · 08/09/2015 17:39

Yes, have forgotten to strap ds in when he was about 2.5 yr. I was driving down the dual carriageway at 60ish when he realised and screamed "MUUUMMMM!!!!! I'M NOT SAFE!!!!!!!"

PosterEh · 08/09/2015 17:39

Tried to put the trolley into one of those trolley lockers at the Tesco cafe without removing dd first.

Rarity08 · 08/09/2015 17:33

I walked out of a shop leaving 2 week old dc behind, cue frantic lady coming after me with the pram Blush

We moved house when DD was 10 weeks, and I drove home to the old flat several times through sleep deprivation. The poor new occupants must have thought I'd lost my mind.

Summerdiamond · 08/09/2015 17:27

Put baby in bucket seat in back of car
Drove off leaving wheels at side of road!
Drove back that way hour later going ah look some poor girl forgot her wheels......God they look very like mineShock

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/09/2015 17:26

walked out I'm front of a car with dd1. dd2 had just got out if hospital yet again and id had little sleep as you do. someone let me across but o forgot the road divided into two lanes for the roundabout and a car in the right hand lane had to break quickly.

I'd just wanted a walk to spend time with dd1.

Spotifymuse · 08/09/2015 17:25

Cat food in the washing powder drawer.
Stood and watched in a daze while the pram rolled gently down a sloped floor in a shop.

JustMeOverHere · 08/09/2015 17:23

Walked out of Sainsbury's having paid but leaving my shopping at the checkout.

Picked up the kettle and put it in the fridge.

Spooned formula powder into the washing machine.

Went to the front door because the phone was ringing and there was no-one outside.

jimijack · 08/09/2015 17:21

Also....
Well, I'm truly ashamed of this.

I actually picked up a half eaten smartie from the rug, picked he fluff & hairs off it and ate it BECAUSE the bin was too far away AND you don't waste good chocolate quite frankly..

jimijack · 08/09/2015 17:18

Put handbag in the fridge.

Got to asda in the car, feet felt funny, still had on big fuck off fluffy pink slippers, but that wasn't the odd thing. I had gone out intending to go to Tesco, no memory of the drive, don't know how I ended up there when I wasn't even going there.

Vomited, was so so exhausted I actually vomited.

Trying to change tv channels with a house phone. Then sobbing uncontrollably because I couldn't put fireman Sam on.

Dark dark days.

KERALA1 · 08/09/2015 17:18

At my worst (dd1 aged 4-6 months) I stopped driving as knew I wasn't safe.

KERALA1 · 08/09/2015 17:16

Threw my handbag in a lake
