Aibu over lady using my parking spaces.

We live in a housing estate and each house or flat has one or two spaces allocated to them. Most of the spaces are directly outside our houses except a few that are round the side that have garages. The spaces aren't numbered but everyone seems to know who's is whose. There's a new neighbour that has moved in next door to me (a corner house) and has a garage parking space round the back of her house, however she uses both my spaces as she parks in the middle of them. It's quite annoying when there's nowhere else to park as you have to park further down the road.

I went over today and introduced myself and poilitley told her the spaces were mine and hers was round the back but she was welcome to use our other space when we don't have guests but could she park to one side so I can fit my car next to hers. She looked at me with a blank expression, said no and shut the door on me! What do I do now!? I just stood there for a moment open mouthed and then went home.

Now I'm not sure if she has mobility problems as she's not exactly nimble anymore (about 65) but I am shocked at her one word reply!

where is your car? block her in immediately. I had to do this once when someone parked on my drive. They never did it again.

Staywithme · 15/02/2015 18:42

Order a load of concrete blocks and build a dry wall around her car.

PatrickStarisabadbellend · 15/02/2015 17:15

She's an absolute Thundercunt.

Jbck · 15/02/2015 17:05

I would be putting a letter through advising her that you will be speaking to the estate manager tomorrow so that she is aware you mean business.
Official threat alone may put the wind up her. You can ask the manager to reiterate all householders that spaces are allocated and should be adhered to.
Parking wars can be long, drawn out and make residents lives miserable so the quicker you get it defined and everyone is aware then there can be no misunderstandings.
Hopefully other householders will be wise to her if she moves to the next closest space.

Little oily handprints and crayon marks would be unfortunate of course [ grin]

Vaseline on her windscreen. Doesn't cause any damage, but will be an absolute bitch for her to clean off.

QueQuesto · 15/02/2015 16:57

It would be a shame if your DD and her friend found a couple of your lipsticks and drew all over her car windows with them. Heard that's a bit of a bugger to get off.

VivaLeBeaver · 15/02/2015 16:47

I would get up at 2am tonight and ring her doorbell while screaming "fire" through the letterbox. That'll get her out.

fluffyraggies · 15/02/2015 16:44

You could bounce it out? :) Out far enough to squeeze yours past and into your space.

Although maybe that one is for further down the line.

EnlightenedOwl · 15/02/2015 16:43

I never thought of that. You could of course park your car in her space nose to the garage to stop her opening the door. Although be careful as she might damage your car trying.
The best thing now is to get it towed. You've tried being nice. Now she needs to know you mean it.

Do you know anyone with a four wheel drive?

^ha ha!

fluffyraggies · 15/02/2015 16:25

Shout the through the letter box that there will be a lorry load of gravel being delivered into your parking space in 20 mins. Whether her car is still in it or not.

Greypuddle · 15/02/2015 16:23

Or a sticker on her windscreen telling her it's your space? They're quite tricky to remove but cause no lasting damage. We have similar problems and this was a neighbour's solution - we didn't know who it belonged to though.

Blu · 15/02/2015 16:19

Put a note through the door:

Dear Neighbour, I see your car is in my space again. I need to bring some things home in about 20 minutes and need to use my car park space. I tried knocking but there was no answer. Could you move your car please?

Would you please make sure that my space is kept free in future?

If you have any problems with this, or need clarification that this is the space that I bought with my flat, I am sure the Estate Manager will be able to help you.
best wishes,
NannyPlum

I'm just place marking (parking?) as I love a good parking story. Your neighbour sounds like a complete arse though, and I would put a plant pot or two ( or several ) in your spare parking space. Preferably with a spiky plant in them.

donnie · 15/02/2015 16:09

OP I am really cross on your behalf! keep us posted on this one. If you live in North London I'll go round myself!!

forago · 15/02/2015 16:03

take your phone, do some mumsnetting and lean on the bell.

icelollycraving · 15/02/2015 15:51

Come on ffs,she knows it's you ringing the bell. If she was sitting in your garden uninvited, would you offer her a drink? (Ok if she's an elderly Korean lady). Get your dh to man up as well.

VivaLeBeaver · 15/02/2015 15:45

Oooh yes, cans of silly string!

VivaLeBeaver · 15/02/2015 15:44

Is it possible to park in her front garden against the front door so she can't get out easily?

SauvignonBlanche · 15/02/2015 15:42

It'll be hard to get in her garage if you park right up to the door. Wink

Lweji · 15/02/2015 15:39

You should have sent them with paint cans.

Or a Spiderman megablaster The "web" is really annoying.

marava · 15/02/2015 15:39

Why don't you park in / outside her garage?

Nannyplum2015 · 15/02/2015 15:37

She definitely knows which space is hers as she has been using the garage attached to it. I've seen her car parked in it too. The only reason I can see why she won't park in it is it's harder to get the garage door open with a car in front.
