Aibu over lady using my parking spaces.

We live in a housing estate and each house or flat has one or two spaces allocated to them. Most of the spaces are directly outside our houses except a few that are round the side that have garages. The spaces aren't numbered but everyone seems to know who's is whose. There's a new neighbour that has moved in next door to me (a corner house) and has a garage parking space round the back of her house, however she uses both my spaces as she parks in the middle of them. It's quite annoying when there's nowhere else to park as you have to park further down the road.

I went over today and introduced myself and poilitley told her the spaces were mine and hers was round the back but she was welcome to use our other space when we don't have guests but could she park to one side so I can fit my car next to hers. She looked at me with a blank expression, said no and shut the door on me! What do I do now!? I just stood there for a moment open mouthed and then went home.

Now I'm not sure if she has mobility problems as she's not exactly nimble anymore (about 65) but I am shocked at her one word reply!

Oh, ghost, you mean like drilling on the adjoining walls very early in the morning or late at night?
Or kids playing football against her wall?

EverySingleTime · 16/02/2015 21:51

I do love a good parking thread.

ghostland · 16/02/2015 21:48

She's so stupid. She's basically burnt all her bridges with you and as soon as she needs something from you (for example if you are playing really loud music or your kids are being loud and she wants you to turn it down) you can just say "do I give a shit". People like that really don't think things through.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 16/02/2015 21:45

This obviously depends how good her hand brake is!

and if she's parked vertically against a wall or other car Grin

I'm thinking
NDN "do I look like I give a shit?"
NAR "do I look like I'll let you get away with it?" Hmm

my ndn parks 2/3's in 'his' space and 1/3 in mine - he thinks it makes his car less of a target for the birds in this position, he keeps creeping further into 'my' space, which will mean I either park in front of my other neighbour's drive (she has no car but is affected when she has visitors) or just park behind him and block his drive

so, is this just parking on the road?

pressone · 16/02/2015 21:44

A tiny derail - Reading your comments about storing stuff before it goes to the tip alongside and behind the offending car reminded me that I have t sofa in the garage that were rejected by BHF as too scruffy for them to sell *the shame!) and I have paid the council to collect tomorrow. Has to get DSS2 to help me move them out of the garage and to the front of the house.
If you hadn't reminded me that would have been £32 down the drain so THANK YOU Flowers

Oldraver · 16/02/2015 21:43

If you put sand under the wheels of a car it is easier to pull out if you need to,

We had to do this when our cat was in NDN garage and they had gone on holiday leaving the car right up to the garage door

Lweji · 16/02/2015 21:41

It is amazing how some people are.

My building has a small communal garage with allocated parking. I park as close to the wall and the side as to let the other neighbour in and they park to give me space to park as much as possible. And everyone is happy.

She sounds like is is likely to get an ASBO soon if she carries on.

Lweji · 16/02/2015 21:31

guffaux
or just park behind him and block his drive

Definitely this. Every single time

ICantDecideOnAUsername · 16/02/2015 21:23

Oo I love a good parking thread. My blood is boiling just reading. Wtaf is wrong with some people?!

I second the going by the rule book approach, take lots of photos and notes. And the penguin bollards Grin!

We once bumped a car over whose owner had mistaken the entrance to the carpark behind our block with a parking space and blocked everyone in - fucking donut. Boy did I leave a strongly worded note on that windscreen. Didn't happen again Grin.

icelollycraving · 16/02/2015 21:22

Is it just me or is there a penguin bollard advert down there!

ColdCottage · 16/02/2015 21:15

Charge (to her) not cost.

ColdCottage · 16/02/2015 21:14

Agree, just get her towed each time. Also ask towing firm to add an extra £50 to their cost for you each time too. Make some money Grin

fluffyraggies · 16/02/2015 21:07

Bouncing i tell you! Works no matter how good the handbrake is Grin

Bobian123 · 16/02/2015 21:05

Bird that made me both Shock and Grin. I'd never have the balls!!

BirdInTheRoom · 16/02/2015 20:55

Next time she is in the middle of your spaces you could very slowly drive towards her car and push it out of the way. I have done this before when a car blocked me in... If you go slowly enough you won't do any damage...

GraysAnalogy · 16/02/2015 20:50

YY to Hermiones suggestion. Our local PCO's are brilliant. We also get a weekly email with the goings on in the area.

LlamaLove · 16/02/2015 20:48

NAR - sounds ace!

Get out there with your camera and start snapping away - making note of time and date. Ideally make sure nutty parking lady sees you doing this!

Do it EVERY time she parks like a twat so you have a nice log of events if it gets nasty.

She sounds a right rude bitch!

HermioneDanger · 16/02/2015 20:44

Is it worth talking to your local Police Communities Officer or whatever they're called to explain that she's behaving antisocially so it's noted and when she ramps up the unpleasantness they react appropriately. Keep a log of her parking and all interactions with her. Then get her ASBOd.

I expect if you have a management company then you won't be able to mark the parking spot or put a bollard in or similar. Do keep up the pressure on the mNagement company if she continues to behave badly though. The only thing to do with these people is to take a hard, consistent line.

if only the same would work with the fuckers who use my carport to smoke in, shag in, pray in and leave all manner of detritus behind

rednsparkley · 16/02/2015 20:41

Your NAR sounds brilliant, I am looking forward to seeing what this woman does next - at least you can all stand up to her together Grin

tilliebob · 16/02/2015 20:38

I love a parking thread - not sure why but I see I'm not alone. Glad your ndn has taken her on. She sounds like a right twatfink!
