Aibu over lady using my parking spaces.

We live in a housing estate and each house or flat has one or two spaces allocated to them. Most of the spaces are directly outside our houses except a few that are round the side that have garages. The spaces aren't numbered but everyone seems to know who's is whose. There's a new neighbour that has moved in next door to me (a corner house) and has a garage parking space round the back of her house, however she uses both my spaces as she parks in the middle of them. It's quite annoying when there's nowhere else to park as you have to park further down the road.

I went over today and introduced myself and poilitley told her the spaces were mine and hers was round the back but she was welcome to use our other space when we don't have guests but could she park to one side so I can fit my car next to hers. She looked at me with a blank expression, said no and shut the door on me! What do I do now!? I just stood there for a moment open mouthed and then went home.

Now I'm not sure if she has mobility problems as she's not exactly nimble anymore (about 65) but I am shocked at her one word reply!

She has a Ford Focus so not huge. The only things I can think of are she doesn't want her car scratched or it's the fact that she has to have her door fully open to get out (takes her quite of bit of effort to get out) and she wants space around her car to do this.

She's Making A Point by sticking 2 fingers up at you all, isn't she? Hopefully NAR will now declare war.

Teeb · 17/02/2015 14:11

Urgh, she sounds like absolute hell. I'd get the bollards put in now, I couldn't tolerate the anxiety and stress of being a prisoner in my own home.

mindthegap79 · 17/02/2015 14:09

I LOVE THIS THREAD! Thank you OP. Looking forward to the next update and am feeling outraged on you and your neighbour's behalf.

minibmw2010 · 17/02/2015 14:07

What I don't understand is the parking in the middle. How big is her car? Does she look like a bad driver when you see her drive? It's bad enough taking up one space that doesn't belong to you but being in the middle of 2 spaces ??

Nannyplum2015 · 17/02/2015 14:05

I presume she would prefer mine as the walking distance is less, although she could see her car better if she were in his. Maybe he was rude in the note and she wants to p him off? I don't know. Previously she's parked in mine when both were empty. I Want to know what he put in her note!

Omg. She is one cheeky mare.

gallicgirl · 17/02/2015 14:03

I was just thinking that if she rents then complaints to the landlord might work but it sounds more like she purchased.

Why would someone be so awkward about parking in someone else's space when she has her own? I've lived in houses where I consider myself lucky if I get to park in the same street!

KitKat1985 · 17/02/2015 14:03

Bloody 'ell! She's got front than Blackpool illuminations!

ThisIsYourLife · 17/02/2015 14:02

Dear god the woman is positively spoiling for a fight is she not?
OP please film NAR's reaction when he gets home from work and post for our amusement.

MooMaid · 17/02/2015 13:59

No way, she's deliberately parked in his space. I'd be fucking fuming. Make sure you're around when he gets home want to know what happens

LlamaLove · 17/02/2015 13:56

Shock OMG - I just cannot believe after the note (and after previous conversations with both you and NAR) she continues to park there.

I think you can take it as absolute certain - she will definately continue to park in your spaces too whenever they are vacant.

Does she have a preference which spaces she prefers?Yours or NARs? Just wondered if they were both empty which one she would most probably choose.

Seriously though - what a rude stupid bitch!

angelos02 · 17/02/2015 13:52

The cheeky mare. Doesn't she realise how difficult her life can be made by alienating her neighbours?!

SauvignonBlanche · 17/02/2015 13:49

No! Shock
In the middle of them?

Nannyplum2015 · 17/02/2015 13:48

I presume she owns it as my old ndn sold their house. Unless a landlord bought it and she rents?

Nannyplum2015 · 17/02/2015 13:46

She's back from her trip out, she's obviously seen the letter he's written (as it's no longer under her windscreen and she's parked in his spaces again. He's not going to be a happy bunny!

rumbelina · 17/02/2015 13:16

I'm Shock that not only does she park in other people's spaces on purpose but takes up TWO spaces. She is playing mumsnet bingo, surely.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 17/02/2015 13:10

Maybe a call to the DVLA is in order because her eye sight is so impaired she cannot see the lines on the parking spaces.

I'm just place marking really Grin

gallicgirl · 17/02/2015 13:10

Does she own her property or rent it, do you know?

Also, what involvement do residents have with the estate management company?

I'm just thinking there's more than one way to skin a rabbit.....you don't always have to focus on the obvious issue.

DidoTheDodo · 17/02/2015 13:03

I need to know what NAR has written to UPC (Unreasonable Parking Cow)

UncleT · 17/02/2015 12:56

I agree that this is a superb thread. Keep the updates coming, OP.
