I have two. I told a friend totally out of the blue that Michael Jackson would be dead six weeks from now, he was. I pointed at the screen and told a friend whilst watching Loose Women that Linda Bellingham would die soon of cancer.
I dunno why i felt compelled to say those things but i felt i needed to.

No criticising, hairsplitting or arguing pleae.

Be brave and tell. :)

Oh, remaining twin things here's one few people believe. My Dad 'absorbed' his twin. They found out at an Xray he had before back surgery or something like that there was a teeny, tiny embryo in a cyst in his neck. It's still there. I found the whole idea super creepy!

Pandora452 · 24/11/2014 20:01

Babystone my mum is pretty sure I am a remaining twin (she had a miscarriage, I was born a month early but would have been a bit late for original dates) and I am a leftie :O

I had a very comforting dream a few years ago. My best friend committed suicide in October 2008. On Xmas Eve I had a dream that I was at her house, in her room with loads of other friends. It was a going away party because we all knew sge was going to die. Everyone was happy and chatty though. in my dream my friend was doing the rounds, saying her goodbyes. When she got to me she handed me a big manilla envelope full of photos and letters. I started to pull one out, but she stopped me and told me to save them til I really missed her, or needed her. I agreed, hugged her....and woke up.

To this day, if I'm having a shit time, I'll come across a photo or letter, or her mum will email ne a photo she's just found of us.

HellKitty is your DS left handed? I watched a documentary which included a bit about twins and quite often if only one survives they are left handed. I've always wondered how often this happens especially as I am left handed and would have loved to have been a twin

DishwasherDogs · 24/11/2014 16:41

Dustarr :(
How awful for you Thanks

Butter, your dream sounds lovely.

I also had dreams after MIL died, but it wasn't as happy. It was as if she was hiding in the dreams, not part of them, but she'd be huddled into a doorway, or once curled up on a high wide shelf.
She had an awful marriage, her husband was emotionally abusive, had a very long standing affair (is now with the OW and passing her off as a new girlfriend, yeah, if 40 years can count as new! Wanker).
She was lovely but very cynical and quite bitter about everything.
In the dreams she was very gaunt and thin, it gave the impression that all the shit she put up with in life she carried into death and carried on being unhappy.
I know it's not real, but I hope she's happy now. Either that or she should come back and haunt her twat husband :o

When my second child was old enough to talk he'd chat about 'his name #2'. Sometimes it was a girl, sometimes a boy, they looked like dc2 and lived in the stars. This went on for a few years then stopped at about 5. Well, when I was pregnant with him I had a heavy bleed at 13 weeks. I went to hospital and got examined and told I'd sadly lost the baby. A scan showed I hadn't. But I had lost his twin - which was explained to me years later. I'd never discussed this in front of dc.

Buttercupsanddaisys · 24/11/2014 14:46

Dishwasher, I can really empathise with the comfort the memory of your dream brings youFlowers

Buttercupsanddaisys · 24/11/2014 14:44

Comforting dreams....my very best EVER.

I woke up in the night in my parents house, the one I'd grown up in. I could hear the low murmur of voices from the sitting room - indistinct chat and laughter, obviously 2 people having a jolly good catch-upSmile

I went noiselessly (cos I was in night things, no shoes) downstairs and opened the sitting room door. Stunned silence from within, then my mum, who was sitting in her usual armchair diagonal to the door, looked up, and said "oh! It's our Buttercup!" Big smile. Dad, who was sitting in his usual chair, back to the door, turned his head round. I kissed the top of his head then crossed the room to mum.

And then I woke up. And it made me SO happy that they'd found each other. Dad died years before mum.

Love that dream(smile)

Also, my GM died a few years ago, it was completely expected and sort of a relief because she was just a shell of her former self.
The night after she died I was having a dream and she kind of pushed her way into the dream, interrupting it, and said that she was fine now. She looked younger than I ever remembered her being.
After that I felt completely at ease with her dying.

I also had a dream "interrupted" by someone else I knew who had died. He said to tell X "don't throw it away, you might regret it". I mentioned this to someone close to this person, and it turned out that the day after I had the dream, the person was sorting out her late husband's things. I had no idea.

I've also dreamt about deceased pets, most notably a gorgeous cocker spaniel who was run over when he was a few months old. Pretty much every bone in his body was broken, my parents were away, so my dsis and I had to make the decision (aged 17) to have him pts.
A couple of weeks after I dreamed he was in the field outside our house, limping but looking happy.
A few weeks after that, I saw him again but running freely and looking back to full health and happy. It was really comforting.

Before I went to college, a woo friend and I did some dousing (needle on a hair, ask yes or no questions).
We both went through school single and asked if we would have relationships in college/uni.
After asking loads of questions we narrowed it down to a specific name, not one that would really be associated with our generations, and both thought it was bollocks and did something else.
Within a few weeks my friend had a boyfriend with the same name and I found out I was related to someone (but had no idea he existed before) with that name.
When we got together my friend was completely freaked out and won't douse (dowse?) again!

JudgeyHotPants · 24/11/2014 13:03

I felt someone slap me on the shoulder in a pub once. We were having a meal to celebrate a family birthday and because there was so many of us we had a section of the building to ourselves. Well someone whacked me and I turned around, expecting to see a family member walking behind me to go to the bad or something, but there was no one there and everyone in the party was still sat at the table.

LoafersOrLouboutins · 24/11/2014 12:54

To everybody who has seen the spirit of a loved one/felt their presence/knew they were dead before being told so- Dit it also help you with the bereavement process? I didn't really grieve for my ex because I knew he would die and I saw his spirit on the night of his passing. It confirmed to me that there is an afterlife and he had simply gone onto 'the other side'. I sound ridiculously woo to anybody who hasn't experienced this but I can't explain the immense comfort it gave me to be warned of his death before I was actually told.

SuperFlyHigh · 24/11/2014 09:58

Mine don't quite fit into the believe or not and happened more to my mum. Anyway one night when we were kids the phone rang in the middle of the night... mum answered it, no one there... turned out to be exact same time her uncle died and same night. She found out in the morning. This was a favourite uncle who actually saved my mum (and my brother and I) by leaving her a substantial inheritance (and antiques) and she'd nursed him when he was dying of cancer. She wasn't expecting anything.

There was also another story sure I've posted it here but is about a haunting in a house where my mum shared with friends - years later a mutual friend of theirs said she'd had very similar experience (my mum's was more woo than ghost) but neither had ever told the other or friends about it.

Very strangely when I was in New York at South Street Seaport i had the strangest feeling I'd been there before - very deja vu.

Also I had a dream as a 10 or 11 year old about a funfair, under a bridge and some sort of caravan park - I mentioned it to my mum and it was same location/fair as when we'd gone there when I was about 4 or so after my mum got divorced from my dad and the social/doctor organised a holiday as my mum couldn't afford one. I had no recollection of this holiday apart from vaguely maybe sitting on the steps of the caravan.

There are others.... more my mum's, I think she's more woo than me. i do get spooked by certain places. I was in the Old Cheshire Cheese Pub off Fleet Street on a haunted pub tour recently and even though it's not said to be haunted I got a really strange feeling sort of ominous - it's quite cavernous there with different rooms. I got so freaked out I refused to go to the ladies toilets by myself. The other pub we went to on the other hand that was haunted I was fine in!

BedPig2013 · 24/11/2014 09:35

LoisHatesChristmas I did something very similar, at a sleep over at my friends I drifted off to sleep on the floor in the living room and the rest were watching a film, I woke up a bit later in such a state of panic and upset had to run up to the bathroom to get out of the room I was in, rang my mum the next morning and she told me my uncle had died in the night Sad

Housemum · 24/11/2014 09:16

Just remembered another - when pregnant with DD1 the bus to work went past the maternity unit - I used to look up at the top floor and think "I'll be there soon". Did a hospital tour and realised that was the SCBU floor, but couldn't shake the feeling that I'd be there soon. DD1 born shortly after, 7 weeks early, I was in one of the top floor wards.

PolkaDotsandPumpkin · 24/11/2014 09:14

Bertie I read somewhere that the brain 'fills in' retrospectively the details that make the noise seem like part of your dream. Disclaimer: I have no reference for this, and can't remember where/when I read it...

Bassface · 24/11/2014 05:22

Oh and this may out me, but I was born on 22nd feb 1980. This meant I turned 22 on 22.2.2002.

Bassface · 24/11/2014 05:05

Quiero, I have a similar thing! The number 2 or 22 occurs a freaky amount of times in my life. Nearly every significant person in my life's birthday is on the 2nd or 22nd and people very close to me have died on these dates too. Once when I was on holiday with some friends and waiting for the plane to come home I started telling them about all the 2's and 22's in my life. They called our flight and we had to go to gate 22! One of them was so freaked out he nearly refused to get on the plane!

I was speaking to a colleague once about clairvoyants etc and said I'd never go to one as I'd lost my dad when I was younger and felt I could be upset by it all and don't really believe in it anyway. She said she had lost her dad too and her sister had looked into numerology as the number 2 appeared so much in her life once he'd died! (This was without me saying anything about my 2's) She kept looking at the clock at 2.22 etc. She says she found that the number 2 is very significant when someone has died and means they are watching over you. I went cold and shivery when she said this!

I see the number 2 all the time when I'm going through a tough time and now take it to mean my dad saying 'don't worry, it will all be ok,' and it always is. The one that springs to mind most recently is I'd applied for a job, my interview was on the 22nd at 2pm. I got a call a few days later to say I hadn't got it. Kept seeing 2's everywhere... - I found a picture of my dad was when he was really young and had just joined the army. His army issue bible was in the same box and to keep the picture safe, I opened the bible to put the picture in and it opened at psalm 2.22. Got a call a few minutes later to say they'd made a mistake and I'd got the job! Another favourite was when I was pregnant with DS. I'd gone overdue so they decided I'd be induced after the weekend. I was to go to ward 2 on the 22nd at 2pm. My mum and DH were very freaked out! DS went and ruined it by arriving on the 21st. Grin

I know you could say I look for the 2's and see them when I want to but it is ridiculous how often they are there at significant times.

mrsduff · 24/11/2014 03:15

Not nearly as good as the other ones here, but my sister was born on the 9th September 1990, at 9 minutes past 9 and she weighed 9lbs 9oz.

Also my mum says she saw her guardian angel when she was little, she was about 6 and in her bed at night, and saw a really tall, larger than life sized man with huge wings but she didn't feel scared. She hasn't seem him since though!

BertieBotts · 24/11/2014 01:22

Or it could just be a waking dream. Sometimes we hallucinate stuff, sounds are the most common, when we're half asleep, half awake, because the part of the brain which causes the dreams hasn't fully clicked you're awake yet but tries to fit things into your environment, hence thinking you hear DC crying or footsteps in the corridor.

I want to know what happens when you're dreaming and suddenly you wake up because of a loud noise, but the loud noise was somehow incorporated into your dream. E.g. once something fell over in my bedroom but in my dream I saw a car crash. Woke up immediately and realised the real source of the noise.

How do you know what to dream leading up to that point that the loud sound happened?! It's weird and when I think about it, the dream is often quite long and involved leading up to that point. I used to get it all the time with the radio.

I was driving and Amy Winehouse Back to Black came on. I'd heard it so many times before but it just sounded different. It sounded ' old' and it occurred to me that one day it would be old and they'd play it as a way to remember her after she died. The next day she died.

My sil had been desperate to conceive for a while and one morning I mentioned her to my dd who could barely speak at the time and she kept saying sil's name back to me and ' baby'. I said to dh I bet sil is PG. About 3 weeks later she called to tell us she was.

When I was about 8 I woke in the night and could hear the telly on in my mums room, it was an episode of Alf Garnet, could hear the actual words it was so clear. I got up to go in and see her and saw the telly was off and my mum was sounds asleep. No remotes in those days so no way she could have turned the tv off in the meantime.

Was shocked to find out was pg with dc3 and confused as to what to do about it. Was at work and absent mindedly asked my df (dead) to help me. That afternoon I overheard the receptionist muttering to herself and putting something in the bin. I don't know why but I went over and asked what she was throwing away and it was a package addressed to my maiden name which she didn't know so was about to throw it. I opened it and it was a baby clothes catalogue for a company I had never received anything from since I first became a mother and even then I was married and had my ' new' name. I just knew it was my dad telling me it would be ok (and it is Smile )

About ten years ago I was at work when I had the strong urge to go up and visit a friend of mine. I knew she'd been struggling but hadn't heard from her for ages. It was such a strong feeling that I dashed up in my lunch hour in a taxi. She was there with a mutual friend having only come back that day, very briefly to pick up some belongings, as she'd fled to another city because an ex was completely freaking her out. It was quite amazing that I'd caught her in.
The flat she lived in was one of the oldest buildings in the city - a former children's home - and she tell me of some really odd things that she had witnessed. Despite having mental health issues that would later cause her to take her own life, I absolutely believed her.
