I have two. I told a friend totally out of the blue that Michael Jackson would be dead six weeks from now, he was. I pointed at the screen and told a friend whilst watching Loose Women that Linda Bellingham would die soon of cancer.
I dunno why i felt compelled to say those things but i felt i needed to.

No criticising, hairsplitting or arguing pleae.

Be brave and tell. :)

Thanks AmantesSuntAmentes, it does help. Years of getting up the courage to tell people and having them smile politely then change the subject doesn't do much for your confidence either in your own memory or the validity of your story! It's an interesting theory you put forward and one I hadn't considered as I'd always thought of the woman as an announcement rather than a cause.
And Flowers for your own story: that sort of prior warning must have been a heavy burden.

AmantesSuntAmentes · 25/01/2015 21:38

PlummyBrummy, Flowers I've often wondered whether there may be a figure or entity who causes fatal rtas. I've believed that we don't usually hear of it, because there aren't usually witnesses. It probably doesn't help that some randomer completely believes you but, I do.

From very early childhood, I envisaged my dads funeral. Not through choice, I didn't dwell on it, it just happened. I remember being distraught the first time. When he asked why, I told him I was scared of him dying but couldn't explain why. I had good reason.

Coupled with this, every time I saw a lone shoe, say on a roadside or in a field, I thought 'dead shoes' and went cold. No explanaition or reason as to why.

The visions of my dads funeral became stronger, more detailed and more frequent until -

My dad committed suicide when i was in my mid twenties and I knew before I received the call to identify him. He had strangled himself with shoelaces.

I haven't seen a single 'dead shoe' since.

I've got one about my DF. I just want to give a bit of a trigger warning if anyone has been in a road accident.

He had helped me pack up all my belongings as I was leaving my job in London and returning home to the midlands to do further study. We stuffed the car and trailer full and headed off along the motorway. Just before Jnc 9, Bicester, a very sparkly dark green metallic car went past us in the fast lane (we were in the slow lane). It seemed to go very slowly past us and in the passenger seat was a a very pale moon-faced woman who stared at us. She had straggly washed out ginger hair and a really odd look to her. The thought occurred to me that she was quite Celtic looking, in her green car, and a bit not-quite-earthly (don't know how best to explain it). She stared so long at us that my DF asked if I knew her - I didn't. I wondered whether perhaps there was something wrong with the car and turned around to see some fabric flapping in the trailer. DF pulled over onto the hard shoulder and we checked the trailer but there was nothing wrong with it so I went to get back in the car. DF held back, I assume to let a vehicle go by but as I sat down, I saw a huge dark shadow over my shoulder and felt, rather than heard a large thud. My DF had been hit by a lorry and was carried some distance down the road.
People stopped to help, as did the lorry driver, but I was told at the time that DF died relatively instantaneously. I don't remember much clearly after the accident but before was crystal clear. I recalled the woman later and how odd and other-worldly the woman in the car was: it had to go on the police accident report and then the coroner's report as the reason we had stopped on the road in the first place.
I've spoken to a parapsychologist about it and he thought it might be a trauma-inspired mis-remembering of events or putting inappropriate weighting on an event that goes some way to explaining a horrible accident. However, I know how hard it struck me at the time that she was Celtic looking and odd or otherworldly. I can't shake the feeling since that she was something like a banshee or a harbinger (DF is from a scots borders family) but I've got nothing other than my testimony to go on and haven't heard anything else like it since then.

Grrrrr just done a massive post and went to get a link to the news story and it vanished......
I'll do that one again first as I now have the link....
www.express.co.uk/news/uk/500120/Passenger-rushed-hospital-plane-runway-crash-Doncaster
I dreamt the night before we flew to ibiza that I saw a plane crash, even updated my facebook status about how would I be able to get on a plane after having that dream only to arrive at the airport to find it closed due to a plane crash landing on the runway!
Another one....I hadn't seen my dad in 15 years and was visiting friends down south who lived about 20 miles from where he lived so I willed up enough courage to knock on his door, only to have his neighbour pop out to tell me he was in hospital so I went to visit him in hospital and he died suddenly a week later!
And my weirdest one....a couple of years ago I had to make the same 45 minute journey 3 times a week and every time I set off at the exact same time, EVERY TIME! But this one morning I called past my house so I could fold the washing in the dryer, there was no reason for me to do it, in fact I'm terribly lazy at doing it, only doing it when I needed to use it again but there wasn't even any washing in the washer, so absolutely no reasoning whatsoever....so I ended up setting off 10 minutes later that usual, I was about 10 minutes into my journey when a police car over took me and stopped in front of me blocking the road, I got out to see why and he said that there had been a serious accident and was diverted. I later found out that at 9.15 a young girl had overtaken a lorry and crashed into a tree dying instantly, the next few times I did the trip I passed that tree at exactly 9.15! Every time I pass the tree I feel so sad but always whisper a little thankyou to what ever or who ever saved my life that day!

EternalBeauPlate · 24/01/2015 12:15

I read a thread on here, a sad story about a young man who died a tragic accident, his ex partner was telling the story on here and was getting support that she needed from Mumsnetters about how to deal with her, and her sons, grief.

It just stuck in my head for some reason and I felt kind of connected in some way.

A few months later I saw an old schoolfriend, she asked me did I hear about Mark - a friend of hers and an old boyfriend of mine, I asked what happened and she told me . . . It was him I read about earlier :(

There was no way I could have known.

susanm22 · 24/01/2015 10:04

I swear this is true ha ha! I'm half way through reading this thread and have just gone to make a cup of tea and there is a mushroom (a closed cup from the supermarket not one growing) on my living room carpet, 2 in the hallway and one on the kitchen floor, hubby is at work, kids are at mils there is no logical explanation for this, they weren't there when I came in here half an hour ago........

dingdongdonna · 22/01/2015 13:32

When I was about 11 I watched the BBC's adaptation of David Copperfield. Daniel Radcliffe was playing young David.

I was also, around at the time, reading the first Harry Potter books.

A couple of years later, when they announced casting calls for the HP films, CBBC did this thing where they asked people to write in and say who they thought would be good for the main roles. I actually wrote a letter saying something along the lines of "the kid who plays young David in David Copperfield".

No-one ever really believes me on this. Sigh. Should have become a casting agent.

pullthecracker · 02/01/2015 09:09

On the day of 9/11, I was on holiday, that afternoon I couldn't stop thinking about a plane crash, I remember thinking that there hadn't been one for a long time. We got back to the hotel, and the news was on in the bar and everyone was talking about what had happened. I told my family then but they didn't believe me.

Miriama · 27/12/2014 12:21

What an interesting thread! I'm forever checking the clock aNd its 11.11. How weird, different clocks in different places. Also had a close call. Just after graduating I moved to a house which was four bedsits and a shared shower room, bathroom. It's wasn't great but was cheap and close to friends. I was there for maybe six months, then moved to a housing association flat. The weekend after I moved out the girl who lived in the bed sit next to me was attacked and murdered by the girl who lived upstairs. Too close for comfort.

BikeRunSki · 22/12/2014 07:38

My GM say up in the middle of surgery under general anaesthetic and said "Christopher Simon". This was at the exact moment her DiL had a premmie baby, who they named Christopher Simon and had baptised before she came round.

My dad was not a well man and spent a lot of time in hospital. He had a very vivid dream one night that dm's brother was on TV because something bad was going to happen. He was very distraught, to the point that the nurses had to ask DM to come in, well before normal visiting time. DM calmed him down and convinced him nothing bad was going to happen.

That night the barracks in the town where dm's brother lived were bombed, killing several people including a family friend. Dm's bro was interviewed extensively on the local and national news as he was the vicar of that town.

Dad also dreamt about a passenger ferry sinking in the Channel, the day before the Zebrugge disaster.

When I was younger - under 8 I think - I was travelling in the back of a car and looked up to see a burnt out helicopter with a figure in, flying in the sky. It didn't freak me out at the time but has increasingly as time has gone on.

Bumbiscuits there is something called Situs inversus in which the internal organs, mainly heart and lungs are inverted. My friends niece has it, she is happy and healthy!

hollyisalovelyname · 18/12/2014 17:37

Therenter that's lovely

therenter · 18/12/2014 04:56

I had just moved into a new house (aged 11) and as my parents were cleaning it I sat at the window watching a boy on a playing on a skateboard across the road. I heard an audible (to me only) voice say that I would marry him one day. I still remember it like it was yesterday.

In April we will have been married for 14 years and have 4 lovely children :-)

TheHappyCamper · 17/12/2014 20:43

Some of these are amazing!

I am not woo at all and don't believe in ghosts (until I see one I guess!) but ... I lost time once!

I was a student in Newcastle and was getting an early train from Newcastle Central station to Birmingham New Street to visit my best friend from back home. It should have taken maybe 15 minutes max to get from my house to central station and I had allowed nearly an hour. I went straight there by the normal route. When I got there, I had missed the train! Where had those 45 minutes gone? At the time I presumed I must have fallen semi-asleep on the way as it was early in the morning but now I'm older I think something very odd must have happened.

I do occasionally get quite strong deja-vu in places I have never been. It's a very strange feeling.

What does a pair of shoes hanging from the telephone line mean????

MummyPidge · 17/12/2014 04:52

My grandad was ill in hospital and I was fishing with my boyfriend, as I was outside there was a lot of birds singing, trees rustling etc. all of a sudden the noises went really loud and then stopped and turned into my aunt (who had died a couple of years previous) saying Sweet it's me everything is ok. I knew then my grandad had passed,2 minutes later my mom rang to tell me, as she was on the phone a Robin hopped into the entrance of the tent. My grandad was a keen gardener and had a little Robin friend who would go sit on the top of his spade while he was tending the garden. Even now we refer to robins as Grandad Fred.

He turned up where I worked last year, could feel him behind me and see him out the corner of my eye, when I turned round there was no one there!

Same aunt shouted at me when I popped to the loo in the middle of the night!

We always took my nan shopping on a Tuesday and Friday and every time she would comment on a pair of shoes hanging from the telephone line down the road (yes I now know what that means haha) when we were on the way back from her funeral we went past the wire and they had gone!

I have glow in the dark hands Wink
It only happens even I touch the rubber teething bars of the cot, in the dark my hands light up like a Christmas tree! I first discovered it 4 years ago with DS, I woke DH up to see if he could do it but he couldn't. Happened every night when DS woke for a feed and I touched the bar- my hand glowed. When he was old enough we put the cot away and I forgot about it until dd was born and we put her in the cot, and sure enough my glow in the dark hands came back! Grin

Peepants78 · 16/12/2014 10:58

it wasn't a deliberate action on my part - he did genuinely trip!

Peepants78 · 16/12/2014 10:56

At the height of his You've Been Framed fame, Jeremy Beadle tripped over my foot. He didn't find it funny.
