I have two. I told a friend totally out of the blue that Michael Jackson would be dead six weeks from now, he was. I pointed at the screen and told a friend whilst watching Loose Women that Linda Bellingham would die soon of cancer.
I dunno why i felt compelled to say those things but i felt i needed to.

No criticising, hairsplitting or arguing pleae.

Be brave and tell. :)

I may have told this on here before. My DN was 3 and he was at home with SIL around 8am. He wandered into the kitchen and told SIL he wouldn't be going to nursery as they wouldn't be able to get the car out. He also said he was going to sit by the window to see the helicopter. She didn't take much notice. About 40 minutes later SIL heard an almighty bang from outside (they live in a rural area) and there had been a head on collision between 2 cars. The emergency vehicles blocked their driveway and the air ambulance landed in the field behind their house.

The Flixborough ones have really freaked me out for some reason Shock

I have a few odd stories:

  1. On holiday in a warm, sunny place and I startled awake during the night. I didn't know what had woken me but I couldn't get back to sleep. Despite it being very warm, I started shivering and shaking, and feeling very upset. The next morning I felt I had to phone home because something bad had happened. My aunt had died during the night.

  2. One day I was getting a taxi home and the taxi driver told me she was a medium and had a message for me. She described the woman it was from, and said they were very close to my DM. I didn't recognise the description but called DM to tell her. She said it was one of her best friends.( I'd only ever known her friend as an older woman and the taxi driver had described her as she was when she went dancing with my mum.) The message and the details totally convinced my DM that it was from her friend Shock

  3. I think the strangest things I've ever experienced have been at my DSIS' house. One night, I decided to stay over, and my DSIS said I could sleep in my niece's room as she was going out for the night and was supposed to be staying at friends. During the night, I woke up with the bed moving as though someone had sat on the end of it. I thought it was my niece but when I looked there was no-one there. When I told my DSIS in the morning, she admitted they had lots of strange happenings in that room. Another day, myself and DSIS were in her back garden, facing the house when we both saw a figure at the window (again in my niece's room). We thought she'd come back unexpectedly but she hadn't. There was no-one in the house and no curtains at the window to create a shadowy outline.

Oh and a non woo one.

About eight years ago Me and dd accidently gate crashed a posh lunch with Prince Charles, William and Harry. Was a buffet and wine and mingling type thing in a marquee. I was in the wrong place and didnt realise. Walked in, there was someone on the door but she just helped me with the buggy.

I realised and was so embarrassed. Legged it. Confessed to the lady on the door who admitted they hadn't been expecting anyone with a toddler.

I could have been a suicide bomber! Can't believe how close I got to them with no security.

VivaLeBeaver · 17/11/2014 22:39

A large black panther once chased my greyhound across a field.

Years ago I knew my grandad had died. He lived 50 miles away and had a clock which struck a funny tune every hour. I was a teen and with my mum at our home and I heard the t e clear as anything. Mum didnt seem to hear anything and I said to her that grandad had died. The phone rang five minutes later to say he'd just died.

Every Time an immediate member of my family is pregnant Dm or one of my sister's and now me 3 people we know one way or another die , Happened with each of my Dms pregnancies (8 of them) & now two relatives have died within a week of each other and I'm 21 weeks pregnant .

An old one from my Dnan -

When she were 4 her Df died and a year after they had booked tickets to go back home (cleethorpes) to see family they were to Travel from Sheffield by Train this was about 65 years ago the night before my great grandma (a very cynical woman) had a dream that her dp was sat at the bottom of her bed & told her she musnt travel the next day no matter what , the next morning she talked it through with the family and they decided to Travel the next day instead as something didn't feel right , Anyway later in the day their was a radio announcement that the Train they were supposed to be on had been in an accident just after leaving the station the Tunnel had collapsed and their were no survivors

Dm was once walking my older sister in a park in London (i forget the name) anyway she were two yo and a Boy kicked a football at her on purpose , the boys mother ran over and apologized profusely - turns out it was Prince William that had kicked the ball & Princess Diana was the one that were apologizing

fluffyraggies · 17/11/2014 22:23

I have one i've told here before on the woo threads.

IRL i've only told family and my closest friend and they say they believe me but ... hmm, i'm not sure. Not sure i'd believe someone telling me this.

Anyway - i was totally alone in part of a primary school building at 5pm ish on a sunny afternoon. Quickly walking through an open plan classroom to get something from next door i noted a lot of toys and belongings which had been left lying round a carpet area and under the coat racks. Didn't stop, but muttered to myself about needing a tidy up.

20 seconds later (literally seconds later, with the whole place still in deserted silence) i returned through the messy classroom and all the stuff from on the floor was in a tower. Perfectly balanced in the middle of the carpet. I felt it was done for me some how by some thing. Wasn't scared at the time, God knows why! Scares me now to think of it.

Name changing regular here:

Dh and I were quite old when it came to ttc our second child and as I didn't fall pregnant at the drop of a hat first time, we charted ovulation etc quite carefully. I really wanted to actually have my second baby while I was still 40, rather than in my early 40s. But despite careful planning and a lot of effort, nothing happened for 6 months. And then, with impeccable timing, it so transpired that my last chance to conceive and have a baby before turning 41 was over Christmas, which would mean dtd at in-laws house as we were going there for Christmas.

Now in-laws live in a miniscule 2 bedroom cottage, with the beds literally next to each other and a thin wall between them. And we had our toddler in the room with us in a travel cot, so no way was I going to dtd "live" as it were.

So I bought a turkey baster from Debenhams (it was Christmas remember) and dh provided me with a sample, once on Christmas Eve morning and once on Boxing Day morning, and I did the rest by myself in inlaws downstairs bathroom.

Our child was born the following September, 10 days before my 41st birthday Grin.

The weird thing is that I just "knew" it was going to work as I queued at the till to pay for that turkey baster.

I once told this story on Mumsnet and a well-known poster described me as a "shitty troll", charming.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 17/11/2014 22:18

Aww sole. I was not really sure about God being real, but your post has really touched me and made me think.

Oh, and another back in 1998, my first night in Sicily. Met my (future) husband the next day - talk.about earth-moving Wink

I had a funny feeling something bad was going to happen the day of my school's annual trip to Wells cathedral.for confirmation. The maths teacher decided to drive rather than take the coach with students but had a fatal car crash. I still shivver about that.

I started walking towards my prize five seconds before they announced i'd won it Blush don't know where that came from!

PCBurnsarrestedme · 17/11/2014 22:15

I have been run over twice. The first time by an articulated lorry, my incredibly fat gran dived on top of me and took the weight of the wheel. She never recovered from her injuries, I meanwhile did not have a scratch.

PizzaPasta · 17/11/2014 22:14

Mines not that good but...

I once caught a fly between my forefinger and thumb. It was flying around the room and I just reached up and pinched it out of the air. Was so weird. I've told a few people but I'm sure they didn't believe me.

ArsenicSoup · 17/11/2014 22:12

Okay, a weird one just happened to me on here! I started reading this thread earlier on at the beginning, first 20 replies or so.

Just now I scrolled back up, reading through the thread backwards as it were (on the ipad app), saw BertieBotts and BestisWest's posts about Flixborough and thought "that's strange, why haven't they mentioned the other poster who was talking about Flixborough earlier in the thread?"

...but there is none! Never heard of Flixborough until the first poster mentioned it (who doesn't exist) Blush

I went to a banger auction with Uncle Stan and enough cash to pick up my first car. We'd spied a Hillman Imp for approx. my budget.

I was looking in the antique shop window next to the auction house behind the haunted 'Orange Tree' pub in Altrincham whilst the other cars went through. Stan beckoned me over - the Hillman was up next. I took two steps towards him then the previous auction banger smashed down the wall and window where I'd been standing seconds before.

Didn't buy the Imp because it went over £120. Set your ceiling.

And there was the time, later in London, that my flatmate was offered cash in an envelope to put into his own bank account by a high profile ex MP.

I was on holiday, Isle of Wight, when Diana died. Young DC meant I was up when the news broke. There's our Vicar on television. Had to convince the others in the morning. The pressure the press put us under in our tiny village for weeks after was quite horrible. There were journalists from all over the world asking stupid questions in every nook and cranny.

Ok, when i was 15 (42 now) my school hiking club went to the lake district for a weeks youth hosteling. The girls and boys split up and us girls were allowed to be one day ahead ( and in another hostel ) of the two teachers that were accompanying us on our week away.

Anyway, we were supposed to be staying at Black Sail that night and we made it late afternoon. For anyone that doesn't know about Black Sail Youth Hostel - its very remote, in a valley if my memory serves me correctly and a good 8 mile walk from where the school mini bus dropped us off.

It was Winter so we unpacked our bits and there was a party of rock climbers there too - probably about 12 people in total maybe a couple more, it was just getting dark and a bit foggy, everybody was outside having a drink and a chat when out of nowhere a guy arrived sounding really panicked saying (in a really strong scottish accent) that his friend was injured in a gulley and he could not get him out, please, please could we help?

Of course the guys who were there galvanised into action getting all their ropes and bits and bobs, it was pretty much dark by then and we girls were feeling pretty hopeless as there were no phones or anything there ( or there wasn't back then I'm pretty sure) when suddenly someone said ' where's he gone'?

It could only have been a minute from the time he arrived asking for help to when all the boys had gathered their bits and no one noticed that he wasn't talking to them and had literally vanished! I think everybody was so busy getting their stuff that no-one looked at him or spoke to him and this place is so remote that we just couldn't figure out where he had gone or why?

So dissecting it around a fire a couple of hours later, jokes were made about Jeremy Beadle arriving in a helicopter or someone was really pulling all our legs. The thing that was really weird was that it was pretty much dark when he came out of the fog, he had no headlight on his head ( or helmet that we could see) and really and truly no one really saw his face or what he looked like just remembered the panic in his voice.

That night i had the bunk closest to the window, i remember not being able to sleep and dying for a wee but the loo was outside and there was no way in hell i was going out there! Jokes were being made about the 'ghost' before we went to sleep and i don't think i have ever been so bloody scared.

You have to stay at this youth hostel to realise how remote it is for someone to come and make up a joke like that - an 8 mile walk from the nearest road is quite a way.

When we finally caught up with our teachers a couple of days later at the end of the holiday - the story was still circulating and i thought they wouldn't believe us but we were a group of 5 girls and the rock climbers were still there i think so this was a thing that happened to a group of people - not sure why in hindsight we didn't think it was weird that he had nothing on him, no light, anything. Just sort of appeared out of the bloody mist!

Gosh people here already think i am a bit nutty so here goes.. When i was five years old I looked up at the sky and asked god to give me a blind child, because I had witnessed the children screaming abuse at a disabled man through he school fence and I felt that if I could care and love one disabled person better than most and protect him. My Son is blind.

About 4 months ago on my way to work I had to stop the car to let a ferret cross the road. In the morning rush hour, in Leeds city centre. Told my colleagues and they didn't believe me! I don't know why - this is Yorkshire after all!
