I have two. I told a friend totally out of the blue that Michael Jackson would be dead six weeks from now, he was. I pointed at the screen and told a friend whilst watching Loose Women that Linda Bellingham would die soon of cancer.
I dunno why i felt compelled to say those things but i felt i needed to.

No criticising, hairsplitting or arguing pleae.

Be brave and tell. :)

Loving these. In fact this, and other MN threads/articles I've read have really made me reconsider my non-woo stance on past lives/reincarnation. It's a fascinating subject.

I've always known the moment my pregnancies have been conceived. Not when they implanted, but at point-of-shag as it were.
Even when I've been using contraception and not trying, and wether or not the baby carries to term.

Nobody believes me. :(

LOLerskates · 19/11/2014 15:44

My friend once said to me "I'm trying to remember the name of an author..." and before she could tell me anything else, like gender, type of book, anything, I just blurted out "Anais Nin" and it was right. We had never discussed her books, or read them before. The name just came into my head. Felt a bit odd!

My ds used to cry for his "other Mummy" when he was upset as a baby and toddler. He would say that he didn't want to die again and that he didn't like it last time. I remember when me, him and my dm stayed in a hotel one night, he was 2 years old and was inconsolable, asking why I had killed his other mummy and when could he see her again? My dm was horrified but I was just so sad that I couldn't take his hurt away. As he got older he told me his Mums name had been Amina, a name I had never heard of and I can't imagine he would have heard it anywhere. This is 12 years ago and he has gradually forgotten his "past life". There was so much detail from such a small child I have to believe it to be true.

Ds again, would tell me he didn't like the man that stood next to my bed at night. I told him to just ask him to go away. This seemed to work so every night he would tell the man to go.

Ds yet again, wouldn't go upstairs alone in my dm's house. One evening she had a dinner party and ds 5 at the time was sitting at the end of the table facing the staircase. He suddenly went very white and said "no girl, go away!" He was adamant there was a ghostly girl coming down the stairs. Dm was embarrassed in front of her guests so hastily explained that ds is erm rather special.

A couple of years ago dm and I went to view a house in rural France. We had to return the following day as it turned out. We were discussing what we had seen thus far that first evening and we both said that the house was ok but that we both loved the old cart that was under the lean-to.
When we went back the next day the cart was gone so we asked the elderly couple who owned the house where it was. They looked really confused then took us into an old overgrown orchard round the back. There was an old smashed up cart that had apparently been in an accident years before. There were nettles and brambles all grown through it but it was definitely the cart mum and I had seen the day before in one piece and under the cart shed!!
It was an eerie place and I'm convinced we somehow went back in time that afternoon.

Dd insists sometimes that her name is Sally. We say 'no, your name is X' and she will say something like 'that's my new name. Sally is my grown up name'. She also mentioned dying in a fire a few times last year 'when I was a grown up'

Mind you, she also insists she has special powers so I have never taken a huge amount of notice. Grin

Fascinating thread.

DS aged 4 or 5 saw a picture of the house that DM grew up in in Ireland, he picked it up and said "Thats' my house"

DM said "Well yes, it belongs to all the family, but your Uncle lives in it now" and DS said "No it's my house, I built it, I lived in it with you when you were a little girl and I was your Daddy", he pointed at certain windows and told her which was her and her sister's room and which was her brothers room, described the kitchen - using words like range instead of oven and press instead of cupboard.

DS has ASD so hadn't been speaking long and this was one of the most detailed conversations that he had ever had, he had never visited the house before either (it's in another country). I took him a couple of years back and wondered if he would say anything but he didn't

2 weeks before the 2004 Tsunami, I dreamed of being in a tropical place, on the top floor of a multistorey hotel, and an enormous wave coming for us (no one believes me, & I haven't told many people!!) Smile

KatriKling · 19/11/2014 13:34

In my youth I worked in a police station where I shared the job of recording every crime in the district. A crime report landed on my desk stating that an electric bread knife had been stolen from a prisoner, he'd received it as a gift from his grandmother. When I looked at the bottom of the report to read the name of the complainant, it turned out to be one of the most notorious British serial killers. I won't name him because, seriously, I had to sign the Official Secrets Act! It was creepy enough to see his signature but, a knife!

I started a degree this year after a few weeks the group of friends I had made decided to stay out for a drink one Friday . We invited another couple girls along too . One of them say it was her 30th birthday the following week did we want to come out to her birthday celebration .

When she said it I thought to myself "she's going to get engaged on her birthday"

The next week she came and and we were all saying happy birthday and one of the girls asked if she had had a good day so far and she said "yeah it's been a nice day , got engaged this morning"

I was ShockShock

Oh sorry Blush Grin They are surreal though!

My mum used to be really into dowsing, where you "ask" a pendulum a question and whether it swings clockwise or anticlockwise is supposed to tell you the answer yes or no. She used to use it to find things, one time she lost her house keys, the pendulum kept telling her it was under the passenger seat in the car, but she couldn't find them anywhere. On a whim she tried a different tack and asked it if they were in the car park of the garden centre she'd been to. It said yes. She drove back to the garden centre and the keys were right on the parking space she'd been in, directly under where the passenger seat of the car would have been.

HesterShaw · 19/11/2014 13:07

Oh. Not weird then :(

BertieBotts · 19/11/2014 13:05

The peacock doesn't surprise me - probably they were pets. I used to live in Warwick and Warwick castle has peacocks, they regularly strut around town and sometimes even into shops etc! Funny birds, they make a weird noise like a cat. They're apparently very lazy and will always come back to where they are fed so there is not much reason to constrain them.

StaircaseAtTheUniversity · 19/11/2014 11:56

Shameless place marking

FloraFlorist · 19/11/2014 11:54

In 2003 I missed a flight with a major European airline and the next flight was completely full but I was allowed to sit in the cock-pit jump seat for the whole flight. Wonderful experience.

When I told people I could see that they didn't really believe me because of the post 9/11 security arrangements, but it's 100% true. I don't tell anyone now.

I have two. Neither are massive.

  1. When dd was little id lost one of the earrings from the pair Id got for my 18th, I dropped it on the floor in the kitchen and couldn't find it anywhere. A week later it appeared in the egg cup in the eye level cupboard!

Second one is probably less woo and more intuition.

My step dad was a lorry driver before he retired. Had been a lorry driver for many years. One windy day I got it in my head I needed to get hold of him and make sure he was okay. I rang him, no answer, rang my mom she said he was probably at the pub having stopped for a quick half on his way home (not in the lorry I might add she meant he'd left work and was on his way home in his car)
I mithered for about an hour saying I need to speak to him make sure he's okay. Mom then rang me to tell me the wind had picked his empty lorry up and put him upside down in a ditch-at about the time Id decided I needed to ring him.

I'd occasionally wake up from a cheeky afternoon nap convinced I could hear a radio or TV playing elsewhere in the house although dh was at work and the dc were at school. A bit freaky but it didn't happen often and I forgot about it. Never mentioned it to anyone else.

One night we were out at a friends and dd and ds2 phoned us asking when we'd be in (dirty stop outs y'see Wink).

Transpired they'd heard a radio/TV playing in a distant part of the house too and were freaked...

I had a dream about an old school teacher a couple of weeks ago. I have no idea why but it was vivid and she was in her classroom shouting at some poor kid who had forgot his homework. She died the following day in a car crash.

I had a dream last week about my cousin who I haven't seen for months. I can't remember what the dream was about but I remember feeling the need to call him the following morning. He never answered - he died in a (separate) car crash during the night.

I have freaked myself out

FriendlyLadybird · 19/11/2014 11:29

My first pregnancy I miscarried on New Year's Day. I got pregnant again approximately three months later and DS was born on New Year's Day. A couple of years later I had another miscarriage ... on New Year's Day. DD's birthday, though, is 15 January!

But is doees mean that DS's and DD's birthdays are exactly two weeks apart. Mine is exactly three weeks after DD's, and DH's is exactly four weeks (unless it's a Leap Year) after mine.

HouseBaelish · 19/11/2014 11:27

I have two.

  1. I had the same nightmare when I was younger. I dreamt it fairly regularly. When I was 11 I read a book and the exact same thing that I had dreamed happened in the book. I started dreaming the dream before the book was published so I categorically didn't read it first.
  1. I started a prep school when I was 9, which was based in an old house. To scare some of my new friends I made up a story about the daughter of the house dying with detailed back story. I scared me when I found out I had given details about a real happening Grin
Mezzalune · 19/11/2014 11:14

I dated Craig David for quite a while. It's true. No one would ever believe me as my looks have gone down considerably since then. I keep it as my little secret!

HesterShaw · 19/11/2014 11:03

I lot of these are freaking me out, particularly the child mediums Shock

So mine is pleasingly ridiculous (at least, I find it pleasing). I was walking into town one summer's evening to the pub with DH and I was taking a booking on my mobile (we run our own business). As I rounded a corner, I went flying over something and ended up sprawled on the pavement with the phone in front of me after shouting "Ooof! Shit!" or similar. I heard the chap's voice calling "Hello? Hello?" and after gaping with amazement at what I had tripped over, I picked up the phone, apologised for my language and said "I'm awfully sorry, I just tripped over a peacock." It was a male peacock strutting along the street as though he owned it. In a TOWN.

I tell people that, and they look at me for a moment, and carry on with the conversation they were previously having Grin.

Sad but true story:

When I was 19 I went on holiday with my then boyfriend and a couple we were mates with, and their 2 year old boy. I will call the mates R and S. S and their Ds drove to the holiday in the car with us, and R followed on his motorbike.

At the end of the hol, we went ahead in the car and R stayed behind to give the holiday flat keys back. When we said goodbye to him it was very strange, he seemed v sad and he gave S and his DS a kiss and a cuddle, which seemed v unlike him. As we said goodbye I said 'see you there, R' but honestly I felt a thud in my chest like I knew he wouldn't make it.

On the way back R wasn't catching us up. Halfway we stopped at a service station and I looked at my watch- 1pm. Things didn't feel right.

We reached R and S's place and helped her inside with their Ds. As we got back to the car we saw a copper pull up and got out and approach the flat. I just knew. He had been killed in a motorbike crash at 1pm. He was only 23.

And here is the woo bit: a month or so later me and then boyfriend were out for the evening and were driving past R and S's place. R was standing on the village green outside, in his motorbike leathers but minus his helmet, staring up at their flat. He was very distinctive, v v tall and slim with bright white blond hair. We both jumped out of our seats with shock and turned round to drive back but he had gone. I swear to god it was him.
