AIBU to think that comprehension just isn't a strong point with some people.

I've noticed this quite a lot over the time I have on MN.

Referring to a recent thread re early retirement. The poster quite clearly stated that DH wanted to retire in 14 months (when mortgage paid) and wanted her to retire at the same time. She is 10 years his junior and works part time.

OK, first answer was "So he wants you both to retire in early forties"

Second response "Can you change to part time work"

I can understand this if we were 10 pages into the thread because we don't all have time to read all responses, but come on, the first two responses?

OP posts:

So he would like you to retire so that you can travel the world together, discover each other once more, take romantic last-minute trips to Paris and shopping trips to New York? And he is to fund this with his pension?

Red flag. Controlling behaviour. Change the locks. LTB.
Send him over here please.

Stick to a vegetarian diet and it'll drop off in no time.

At least that's what happened to DH.

ginslinger · 30/09/2014 16:02

So you expect your au pair to wash dishes? Really?

Thumbwitch · 30/09/2014 15:46

Have you RTFT? Perhaps you should...

I think we've all lost sight of the issue here... no wonder the OP hasn't come back!

If you're still reading OP, then I hope everything goes okay with your retirement! Is your DH going to be retiring at the same time? You could buy one of those campervans and travel the country together!

Are you calling me a troll uterus?

Twitterqueen · 30/09/2014 13:19

Did you mean to be so rude?

phonebox · 30/09/2014 13:15

Actually, she's a very highly respected human-rights lawyer with a banging CV.

TortoiseUpATreeAgain · 30/09/2014 13:11

What bleedingheart says. You're all responding assuming that what the OP says is true, but she might be lying about everything. So I'm going to construct my own response based on that premise and then when people object I'm going to act as though I am serving some noble higher philosophical cause.

bleedingheart · 30/09/2014 13:06

Hmm I'd like to hear the other side of the OP. I think that would make interesting reading.

MackerelOfFact · 30/09/2014 13:04

Go on the Book People website and order their sets of children's story books.

BeckAndCall · 30/09/2014 12:55

UterusUterusGhali · 30/09/2014 12:45

Those shoes which you can actually walk in for twelve hours a day with plantar faciitis; fugly.

SaucyJack · 30/09/2014 12:44

Have PM'ed you OP.

Sootgremlin · 30/09/2014 12:40

If it were a male friend your husband was shagging texting, would you feel quite so strongly about it OP? I share beds and showers with friends of the opposite sex all the time, perfectly normal IMO.
