AIBU to think that comprehension just isn't a strong point with some people.

I've noticed this quite a lot over the time I have on MN.

Referring to a recent thread re early retirement. The poster quite clearly stated that DH wanted to retire in 14 months (when mortgage paid) and wanted her to retire at the same time. She is 10 years his junior and works part time.

OK, first answer was "So he wants you both to retire in early forties"

Second response "Can you change to part time work"

I can understand this if we were 10 pages into the thread because we don't all have time to read all responses, but come on, the first two responses?

yabu the car could explode while you are paying for your bread - do you not love your children?

JustAShopGirl · 29/09/2014 14:57

I never leave the washing machine on when the house is empty. Small risk, but is it worth it...?

Dinner tonight?

A rustic home made soup served with crusty, home made bread. Followed by a made-from-scratch fish pie with pan roasted vegetables grown in our garden.

Pudding will be a rhubarb and ginger posset served with a raspberry coulis and hand baked vanilla Madelines.

it's the kid's (14 months and 3) favourite.

I don't think you have a mil problem op. You have a serious dh problem.

justashopgirl I don't think that insulting the op is helpful do you?
Have you never had a concern about lack of comprehension?
This isn't about empathy, it's about people deliberately misreading the op and providing unhelpful responses. Rtft and stop projecting Wink

perrinelli · 29/09/2014 14:19

Shamelessly marking place

TheBigBumTheory · 29/09/2014 14:17

The 'how to talk...' books are excellent on this subject

Vintagejazz · 29/09/2014 14:17

On a serious note YANBU. Drives me mad when posters ignore some clearly stated information in an OP in their rush to reply/give offence/start a row.

Vintagejazz · 29/09/2014 14:15

Just LTB.

ninetynineonehundred · 29/09/2014 14:14

JustAShopGirl · 29/09/2014 14:13

aliasjoey · 29/09/2014 14:13

ooh kittens!

Whoopsadazy · 29/09/2014 14:09

The OP isn't listening. Why did you post in AIBU if you didn't expect to be told YWBU?

hiddenhome · 29/09/2014 14:05

Kittens

I blame it all on the demise of grammer schools
