OK, so I caught myself getting cross at hubby when on family holiday for having fruit and fibre for breakfast as he was 'obviously' trying to engineer more 'me time' on the loo away from the kids.

Please, please tell me I'm not the only one to have picked THE most ludicrous fight? Other examples please....or am I a lone witch?...

And yes, we argue about mythical lottery wins and the appropriate distribution too. Mainly should we give our (useless and immature) siblings a trust fund or a lump sum each.

pinkbear82 · 04/04/2014 22:50

Newly ex partner used to cook everything in saucepans, and with a fucking pint of oil large amount of oil, that he would then drain when he deemed it was cooked. This drove me insane, and after countless 'debates' I gave up and avoided the kitchen if he was cooking.

Mind you ask him, and apparently I pick arguments with specks of dust and would carry on until I was right.

I set the Sky+ to record the Winter Olympics on series link. Didn't realise it was on four times a day for 3hrs a time... DH sits down to watch prerecorded Top Gear (which is on Dave every bloody day Hmm) and the Olympics has wiped everything off the planner Blush
I thought divorce was definitely on the cards!!!

Dumplings4ever · 04/04/2014 22:32

Cereal and SDT - Hiatus Hernia is pronounced Hi-a-tus Hernia

Food for thought.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/04/2014 22:29

I would say Haiti 'hay-tee' - I hope that's OK, cerealqueen! Grin

cerealqueen · 04/04/2014 22:26

Massive row once about how to pronounce Haiti. Even if we refer to it now, tempers start to rise.

Badvoc · 04/04/2014 21:41

I think the most angry dh hS ever been with me was when he asked what shape vitamins are and I said I didn't know.
He was furious.
Livid.
How do I bloody know what shape a chemical compound is?
Ffs.

MikeLitoris · 04/04/2014 21:37

We have had the obligatory row over how to spend a hypothetical euro millions win. I'd give all the necessary peoplea million straight away he would give them all £250 a day.

Another big one was whether the word OBVIOUSLY has a B in it. Apparently you don't say the b so itist not have one.

renate678 · 04/04/2014 21:01

We have a recurring thing, he once asked me if I'd still love him if he was a fly?! I (sensibly imo ) said he wouldn't be him, so;no...huge offence taken and it gets brought up every now and again. :/

slithytove · 04/04/2014 20:23

Oh, anything. Most recently was a big argument about whether his friend would get the sack for requesting to unrelocate. Affected neither of us in the slightest.

NotGoodNotBad · 04/04/2014 20:17

DH and I once had a blazing row, in public, over stuff I had left in my rucksack, which we were using as a shared rucksack for a weekend away. He was annoyed about there being odds and ends of my stuff left in there for the weekend getting lugged around for no reason, and I was annoyed with him for complaining because it was MY RUCKSACK AND I CAN KEEP WHAT THE HELL I LIKE IN IT. Confused

OTheHugeManatee · 04/04/2014 20:00

I asked DH about this and he reminded me about the time recently when I flew of the handle at him in a discussion about where the workshop should be in our new house Hmm Grin

Merguez · 04/04/2014 19:56

Enormous argument about whether or not to have side plates on the table at our wedding.

Nearly called the wedding off because of it.

MadameLeBean · 04/04/2014 19:45

Ah I see, yes washing one thing at a time would leave the water hotter and fuller, so you are right there. But if you dunked it all in together you would be in the same situation.

Unfortunately my DP fills the sink leaving all the dirty stuff in it, abs leaves it. To go cold. And that is "doing the washing up". Nothing gives me the rage more than having to put my hand in cold dirty water to get the plug out to then put all the stuff in the dishwasher (where there is often room for it the night before anyway). Angry

In his defence , he cooks and I do not. But the cold water thing is just argh!!! That washing up is never done Angry

Topseyt · 04/04/2014 19:32

I am glad we do not have IKEA nearby, as I am sure it would be one of our favourite disputes too.

MummyBeerest · 04/04/2014 19:29

Oh god, thess are great. Good to know we're not on our own on these!

IKEA is the devil incarnate. We fought over whether or not to buy some stupid toy for DD there-I told him he was being unreasonable. He said "Don't Mumsnet me!"

DH stands for "dickhead" in our house Grin

Tinkerisdead · 04/04/2014 19:19

I thank you.

And add that we have a dishwasher Blush

CountessOfRule · 04/04/2014 19:17

I'm with DoctorsWife. Hot soapy water, wash one thing at a time. All those cold, dirty things would obviously make the water cold and dirty Confused

Tinkerisdead · 04/04/2014 19:15

Madame yes that'd be right but i argue you dont need to fill it all up do you? Say you fill the bowl, then wash the glasses, then cutlery etc etc. but I like your argument. That is far more reasoned that leaving yourself an inch worths of water n wonder why its murky and cold.

MadameLeBean · 04/04/2014 19:13

Doctors wife: surely if the sink is full when you put the washing up in, it will overflow because of displacement ... So you have the same amount of water as you would have done had you put the dishes in first then filled the sink to the brim...

Right?

RabbitPies · 04/04/2014 19:04

It wasn't a marital row,and I've posted before,but I'll add it anyway.

I broke up with an ex over a hypothetical argument. We both had lizards, and we somehow ended up arguing over a hypothetical fire because he said that in said fire that he'd rescue the lizards and our hypothetical children out at the same time.

I was outraged by this, and though I adored my lizards, and would try to rescue them,I thought that our hypothetical children should be priority.we split over it because I thought I and any children we might have would always come second. Blush

I also had a very heated argument wirh him, that resulted in us not talking for the better part of a week, over whether or not rabbits and hares were both lagomorphs. I was right, but he would not accept it,then sulked for days.

Tinkerisdead · 04/04/2014 18:41

Displacement.

He moans that washing up water gets shitty and cold too quick. I argue thats because he fills the sink with all the washing up and then fills it with water, displacement means that he's got less water in the bowl from the outset. He does not agree with this.

I have been known to fill up his bath with children and toys like a modern Archimedes.

elizadolittlechoc · 04/04/2014 18:36

DP strims the edge of the lawn, cutting down any stray flowers or shrubs in his path. Gardens front and back look like edge of a municipal car park. Not another plant in sight for 14 years. Many tears (and money) shed :(

marcopront · 04/04/2014 18:35

Not so much a row but a bizarre conversation with then boyfriend.

Me : I'm going to cook dinner, do you want anything.
Him : I'm not hungry, I don't want anything to eat.
Me : I'll just cook for me then.
Him: why, won't you cook for me.
Me: you said you weren't hungry
Him : but you should cook for your boyfriend

I cooked for me, and he ate half of it.
I'm glad he's an ex.

MadameLeBean · 04/04/2014 18:21

Kittens that is brilliant
