Because everyone's got a story! And here is mine...

I was on a bus recently, quite a full bus. A wheelchair in the wheelchair space, one lady with a pram (unfoldable I think) in the buggy space. Bus pulled up at a bus stop, where two ladies are waiting with pushchairs, chatting to each other.

One lady gets on, parks her pushchair into the remaining buggy space. The second lady tries to get on, but the bus driver won't let her as the buggy space is now full. She asks the lady with the pram to get off the bus so she can travel with her friend. 'Pram lady' looks at her askance, and says sorry, but she needs to get home. Both pushchair ladies then proceed to loudly and verbally abuse the pram lady for being selfish and not getting off the bus, so they can travel together.

Everyone else on the bus was stunned into silence, the bus driver throws both pushchair ladies off the bus and drives off. Pushchair ladies stand at bus stop yelling and shaking fists at the receding bus!

I've never known so many bus passengers strike up conversation all at once, making sure the 'pram lady' was ok, and generally saying 'what a pair!'

I live in a busy village and my house is fairly close to some countryside, my road is fairly busy with cars.
One day my friend had visited and was just leaving, another friend arrived just as the other friend drove off.
Me and the new visiting friend looked up at the sound of hooves and saw a horse galloping down the road, no rider just a horse.
Shocked we wondered who we should call and were just on the phone to the non emergency number when the friend who had just left text me to say the horse had galloped past her nearly in the town centre which was about two miles away, another friend who works in a hairdressers in town also saw it gallop past and go off down the high street.

I was on the tube this week when a young man dressed in suit trousers and a white shirt suddenly gasped. We all looked up (from daydreaming/newspapers/phones) to see he was carrying a paper carrier bag which had split, and there was money all over the carriage floor. We're talking 20s and 50s everywhere - definitely a few £1000. Everyone on the carriage was Shock and Grin and just looked on as he scrabbled around picking it all up and folding the now useless paper bag round this stack of notes!

weyayechickenpie · 09/05/2014 09:49

This is just gross. I was at Berwick over Easter went to the public loos and found a trail of shit it was everywere smeared all over the loo seat on the floor just everywere but in the toilet. Went out disgusted and seen a lady standing there with loo roll stuck to her foot and poo all over the paper. Obviously her waiting for her husband etc. I felt like saying to her get back it those toilets now and clean it up but left saying nothing.

I lived in a posh but of Paris for a short time. Was walking down the street when I saw a smartly dressed, elderly lady (think anna wintour but about 85) crouched on the floor between two parked cars.

Thinking she must have fallen, I offered my hand to help her up, which she gladly took.

Still holding my hand, and looking me directly in the eye, she proceeded to do the most humongous wee all over the street, get up and thank me before walking away with her dog. I was well and truly Shock

I've mentioned this on MN before, but my most jaw dropping moment was watching my stupid and dangerous neighbour taking a pneumatic drill to the public pavement outside his house, digging a large hole and 'repairing' a drain from his house.

Not surprisingly, this led to a very serious water leak that came close to flooding several houses in the street. The fire brigade and police managed, eventually, to sort the situation out.

GeoffLeopard · 11/04/2014 12:31

Frikadellen... That is the funniest thing I've ever heard!

Meerka · 11/04/2014 11:37

nah you're not. It took me a bit to believe my eyes too. And longer to stop chuckling :)

Like the time that I saw a flock green parakeets flying near a london park. I had no idea that they'd escaped into the wild and could survive. I was used to parakeets being exotic and rare and in the tropics. Fortunately someone enlightened me that they're pretty common in London.

Haggischucker · 10/04/2014 19:24

Glad I'm not alone meerka! Not mental after all! :)

Haggischucker · 10/04/2014 19:23

Glad I'm not al

There was an elderly lady who used to come to our local gym and exercise in just her bra and knickers, it was quite sweet actually - like she was back at primary school!

Msbluebozooka · 10/04/2014 19:14

I worked in a well known posh department store and one evening a poor women ( she was in her late thirties ) walked in with just her bra and knickers on. I can tell you the whole department stopped, everyone was gob smacked. She just carried on as if nothing was wrong testing perfume on etc. The poor security guards didn't know what to do.

In the end they took her to the canteen and wrapped her in a extra large blanket. They were not very happy. I'm sure if she was young and a size 10 looking like Kate Moss it would have been a different ball game.

BitchyHen · 10/04/2014 19:06

Tanks are a fairly regular sight in my local area. We have an ordinance base down the road though.

Meerka · 10/04/2014 18:58

I saw one too haggis, in a nothern city. Long slow traffic queue, finally got to the see what the holdup was. It was a tank on a major city road, top open with a soldier looking out, and a big L sign swinging off the back. Honestly. I doubted my own eyes for a while :)

Army friend told me later that learner tank drivers have to learn how to nagivate city streets reasonably well. If they get it wrong, they risk taking out the whole corner of a building .....

Haggischucker · 10/04/2014 18:49

I swear I am not lying (but my DH maintains I am) one day I was driving home just outside nottingham city centre, came to top of a hill and there was an army tank on the road, top open, some guys on top which turned left as I went straight on! I often wonder if I hallucinated but I'm pretty sure I didn't was like this :0 for ages after! :)

Groovee · 10/04/2014 18:08

Yes

alemci · 09/04/2014 21:53

ok like an airport walkway almost but ascending/descending.

Groovee · 09/04/2014 13:06

Groovee what's a travelator? Similar to a escalator but it's all flat and the trolley's wheels normally click on like a magnet to stop it rolling. But the car one didn't click on and raced the child right down to the bottom at a fast speed.

alemci · 09/04/2014 13:02

Grooves what's a travelator?

ajandjjmum · 08/04/2014 14:18

Alpaca
When I was 18 mths old I stood on the edge of a washing-up bowl in the garden, which flipped up and smacked me in the mouth. I spent the first few years of my life without front teeth - got fed up of hearing 'all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth' Grin
Times have thankfully changed!

AlpacaLypse · 07/04/2014 20:41

When dtds were 12, I was called urgently up the street by one of their friends as dtd2 had gone a purler - a faceplant - onto the pavement. She was huddled on some steps being looked after by a neighbour, blood on her face. She looked up at me and said 'my teeth are gone'.

And they were. Her two top front teeth were just jagged stumps.

Took three days (it happened on a Saturday morning) to get them rebuilt, on NHS.

Groovee · 07/04/2014 18:39

I've just remembered a recent one. Had gone to tesco and was on the travelator with dh. Dh hears me say "erm no...no no no no!" And all I can see is this toddler with a car trolley heading on to the travelator. Problem is, I'm not far enough up to stop or shout and going the other way is too far too. So the child pushes it on to the travelator and it doesn't lock like normal trolleys and the child takes off and lands very fast at the bottom smashing into the stand with hot cross buns. It was very lucky he didn't hit anyone.

You can hear him crying loudly at the bottom and we reach the top and I'm looking about for any adults with him, when an older guy in his 50's approaches and says loudly, "How did you get down there!" Had to hold dh back from saying anything.

Kahuna · 07/04/2014 18:16

BertieBotts · 07/04/2014 13:55

I think you can put it back to 1000 Kahuna if you want to.

Kahuna · 07/04/2014 13:28

And now I discover there's 2 pages on this thread.....

BertieBotts · 07/04/2014 13:17

I am totally Shock at these stories of newborn babies being fed milkshake and fanta, FFS! It's not hard is it, they drink MILK of some kind?? I mean why empty the milk out to feed something else? It makes no sense!
