Things I still wonder why the hell I did that as a kid...

20 years later, this still makes me wonder why I was such an odd child!

I was a bit shy granted, but still...

In 2nd year seniors, start of the new school year, new art class and teacher, everyone gets in and sits down at new desks, I was the last one in...and my spot at the table had no chair!

So, did I mention to the teacher that there was no chair! nope.

What I did, was sort of crouch down, into some fake sitting position and stay there for the entire double period! Pretending to sit! As if no one would notice...!

It is this sort of thing, that means I will never ever attend a school reunion!

I stuck my head i a holly bus to see what it felt like. It hurt. A lot

TheNaughtySausage · 24/02/2014 16:36

When I was 8 I thought I would quite like to wear some make up to the school disco, except I didn't have any, because I was 8. So instead of nicking some of my mum's DULL brown eyeshadow I used the blue face paint crayon on my eyelids and the red one on my lips.

My friends all rightly laughed at me cnd I spent most of the disco in the girls loos trying to scrub it off with bog roll, soap and water.

soontobeslendergirl · 24/02/2014 16:36

Nope tonythefish definitely not normal - we must have been crying out for attention :(

MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 24/02/2014 16:36

Took my mates Labrador out for a walk ..wearing dark glasses and pretending to be blind Blush (aged 12)

We had a game in P7 as well which was for about 3 weeks hysterically funny. Can't remember why it started but the gist was one girl (always the same one) going into the loo and pretending to give birth. Another girl was the midwife, who coached her through the door. I was the granny. Everyone had some sort of weird role. The babies were purely imaginary however every single one was named - we had Charlie Brown to begin with, then Polly, Fanny, Willy, Dick and Shag - you get the picture. There was a full story line that we followed and for some reason we never forgot it - we could recite it each lunchtime from beginning to point we were at.. We had a first aid manual that helped no end - much hysteria at the fact that the woman in the manual had pubes..

I think it was when a new girl came that we realised how strange our game was and we stopped.

soontobeslendergirl oh my, I once, about aged 11, repeatedly hit myself in the face, around the eye, with a hardback book, to give myself a black eye, as I had never had one before! I then pretended I had been in a fight!

I am convinced my parents must have been drugging me! it is just not normal is it!

I feel refreshingly normal reading the posts. Or, at least, what I thought was my crazy behaviour is actually in line with many many others!!

PastaandCheese · 24/02/2014 16:33

The prank calls is bringing back memories. Do teens still do that or is it just a pre Internet thing?

caffeinated · 24/02/2014 16:31

I don't think anyone I associate with now would believe any of those above stories.

caffeinated · 24/02/2014 16:30

When I was in junior school we got a teachers consent to perform a dance for all the infants. It was a very suggestive routine, involving chairs and was toSamantha Fox's Touch me. Slightly inappropriate on many many levels.

In high school aged 12 we rang the fire brigade a few times to tell them school was on fire in hope we would get sent home early.

Aged about 15 we would occasionally shoplift alcohol from the co-op at lunch time and pretend all afternoon to be drunk.

Oh, i found some porno mags inside a bush in the park, took them home and put them in my brothers bedside cabinet which were subsequently discovered and he got the blame....

I did a poo in that same bush - disclaimer: it was a massive bush that you could fit about 5 people inside and I was desperate. I have no idea what I wiped my arse with Blush

My friend and I used to put on lisps and ask strangers what the time was.

I used to bang my head off the door so I would get a bruise and then tell people I had been in a car crash, so they would think we were posh enough to have a car :o

These are so funny Grin but I'm trying really hard not to laugh as I have broken ribs (not succeeding).

Thisvehicleisreversing · 24/02/2014 16:29

These are bloody brilliant Grin

At the age of about 11, me and 3 friends decided we were going to change the world with our inspirational, charity supporting songs.

We sang about children in need, animal cruelty and helping old people. All complete with naff dance moves. We used to gang up on the head of year and make him let us sing in assembly.

We also did a great rap about the teachers once.

We were fucking cool.

shakinstevenslovechild · 24/02/2014 16:28

When we were about 11/12 we used to put Vicks under our eyes so we had tears streaming down our faces and couldn't see anything and see how far we could walk without bumping into anything Confused I'm still not sure why, but we did it all the time, it really hurt too.

shouldnthavesaid · 24/02/2014 16:28

Ah I also sat on a table in PE and sobbed - complete with snorting - because I didn't want to play badminton. To this day I cannot understand my complete overreaction. I didn't stop for the whole lesson.

hootloop · 24/02/2014 16:26

Oh and once for some unknown reason my friends and I put a malteaser a minstral and an opal friut into a glass of lemonade. Then the next morning tried to flush it down the loo but malteaser wouldn't go so it had to be fished out.

The phrase a malteaser a minstral and an opal fruit was an in joke until we left school. We thought it was hysterical but I have no idea why.

soontobeslendergirl · 24/02/2014 16:26

When I was about 9 or 10, i really wanted a birthday party so I told some girls in the class I was having one at my house and they all got dressed up and brought me presents......there was no party! I even walked one of the girls from her house to mine knowing there was no party happening - I had a brass neck clearly!

I got a pussy willow stuck up my nose as I wanted to see how fluffy it felt inside....

shouldnthavesaid · 24/02/2014 16:25

I did have one teacher - a female, no less - who I had a bit of an odd crush on at 17. She was my maths teacher and for a year my homework was written in pink pen with all the Is dotted with wee hearts.. And smiley faces.. And messages to her.. Covered my face in cheap make up and perfume..

That poor woman got a card from me, a postcard, two visits after leaving school, was told a few 'secrets' .. She must have thought I was a bit sad - everyone else did - she was in general despised by the rest of her pupils. She did actually stop some of the bullying I got (excluded someone for sexual harassment that she witnessed), helped me pass my exams and was hugely supportive when I had awful stuff happening. I used to go and see her for no reason at all.

She was always very nice except when I asked for her contact details on leaving school but I don't think I could face seeing her again without feeling very embarrassed.

In hindsight I didn't 'fancy' her, I loved her as I would a female relative. Just wanted to impress her and sort of wanted her to look after me I think - which in a way she did.

My friends mercilessly took the piss - when I was off ill they said they'd give the teacher 'my love' and used to call my visits 'cosy cuddles in the classroom' ..

Oh, when I was about 7 I decided to colour my entire face in my Mams lipstick! No idea why! Just felt like it!

Then tried to wash it off, and deny I had done so, even though, my face was still rather red from said lipstick, and a bit raw from me trying to scrub it off. I looked like I had gone for a chemical peel! I had lipstick in my hairline for days!

We used to crush polos into fine dust and snort them!

I spent a whole day with a huge bandage round my hand saying I'd sliced it open on a corned beef can-I had a paper cut!

In the school dining hall we had those long tables with individual stools attached. The boys used to run towards them holding their lunch trays and - in one sleek move - jump onto the seats, make them spin, and then stop very smoothly.

I was ten and thought I'd impress them by copying.

I thundered towards the table, I jumped, the seat spun too fast, I kept going. I flew across the dining hall. I hit the wall and slid down it like a cartoon character. As I sat there slumped and dazed, the bowl of pink sponge and custard I'd been holding throughout plopped onto my head.
