I bet there's been one of these before but who remembers stuff about the 70's, looking back to me it was all a bit weird.

So some of my memories.

Mary Mungo and midge, the music in the lift. my orange space hopper, gridsy marbles and clackers.
Dehydrated potato, free milk you had to drink at school.
Playing out from after breakfast until dark or tea.

And my mum and dad used to drive to the pub and leave me in the car with a bottle of pop and a packet of crisps whilst they sat inside.

ShabbyFlabby · 01/02/2014 22:14

Nylon nightdresses (red and white striped) and bylon bedspread. We used to lie in the dark and rub the 2 together to make sparks.

Vauxhall Viva

Austin Maxis

Silver Jubilee Street parties

Camping holidays in Devin with our huge blue and orange canvas frame tent.

Party seven beer - and my dad and his mates battling to get into one.

Family rooms in pubs. We would get a glass bottle of coke with a straw and a packet of salt n shake crips and be left to our devices whilst the adults got pissed elsewhere in the pub. Hmm

Being free to play and roam in a way that no kids get the chance to these days.

My mums twin tub.

wood cladding in our dining room and people coming to marvel at it.

Parkray coal fire.

Travelling alone on the train with a little brother. No adult help.

No mobiles, GPS or train delays on a phone.

Perhaps it makes one self reliant?
