I am not sure if this is the right place for this but my mum (EMIN) had asked us to keep her mumsnet friends updated on her cancer battle.

I have already posted on the 'cancer' thread but wanted to make sure I had done what she wanted.

Mum - wife, mother of three, foster mother to over 80 children and grandmother of one - passed away peacefully in her sleep at 2:50 this morning. We were all with her, holding her hand and telling her we loved her.

Yesterday all of her family came to visit and they spent time with her, each of them getting their private time to talk to her and just be there with her and for her.

All she had ever wanted was to be at home with her family around her and she got exactly what she wanted. She will be missed so very much and we are devastated that she was taken so early.

She loved to read threads on fostering as babies were her life. She lurked a fair bit and would just offer words of guidance, comfort or encouragement where she felt she could help. In later months as she fought cancer she concentrated more on the cancer thread and I know it gave her some comfort.

She would have been 60 in October and we are devastated she never got to have her big family party but we get some comfort from the fact that all of her loved ones were with her yesterday.

I don't know how many people she communicated with outside of the boards or if any crossedover to real life but if anyone is interested in coming to the funeral once it is arranged then by all means drop me a private message and I can pass on the details.

I also lurked on your Mum's threads, especially recently.

You must be very proud of her, and you sound like a chip off the old block too. Smile

What an inspirational lady your mum was. Some achieve very little in life but your mum sounded like one in a million.
Sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences on your loss. She was a lovely poster, and I am glad she got to pass away as she wanted, with all of her important people with her.

I remember her thread on fostering a drug addicted baby, the most wonderful story and woman. I learned a lot from her. RIP.

Gingerstrumpet · 04/09/2013 18:30

I'll never forget the posts about the drug-addicted baby.

A beautifully - written account of a beautiful act.

I'm so sorry for your terrible loss.

Rest in peace, EMIN.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 04/09/2013 18:28

I'm so sorry to hear your sad news.

I remember the thread about caring for the baby who had been exposed to heroin. It really struck a chord with me as my adopted DD was also born drug dependent and her wonderful foster carer went through a really difficult time with her.

My DD is now a lovely happy five year old with no ongoing problems thanks to the wonderful care her foster mother gave her during her first year.

Your Mum has made a huge difference to the lives of so many babies and will always be a special person to them.

I am so so sorry for your loss and for all of her loved ones.

I never knew her but was another touched by her compassion, strength and endless capacity for love and in awe of her practical, modest, no-nonsense approach to anyone and anything that came her way.

RIP Emin, you leave an incredible legacy and have touched more lives than you would ever have dreamed.

ExasperatedSigh · 04/09/2013 16:07

Sorry, I meant to say I never posted on her threads but I read a lot of her posts, hence remembering her name. Post makes little sense, sorry Blush

ExasperatedSigh · 04/09/2013 16:06

I am so sorry to hear that EMIN has passed away. I never posted on her threads but I remember her name because she always struck me as an absolutely inspirational, incredible woman. To do what she did for those babies in need of love and safety is an amazing thing. You must be very proud, as well as very heartbroken.

A peaceful passing, surrounded by love, is a real gift too, one I hope may be of some comfort to you all when things seem bleak.

Sending you all my best wishes at such a sad time. RIP EMIN, what a woman.

Thumbwitch · 04/09/2013 15:31

So very sorry to hear of your loss, DaughterofEmin - she was a wonderful lady, that's for sure. I'm "glad" she had a peaceful passing - I lost my own mother to cancer when she was 63, so not much older than yours, but she was in ICU and it wasn't perhaps as peaceful as it could have been.

Love to all your family xxThanksxx

RIP EMIN.

mignonette · 04/09/2013 15:29

I am so sorry. I read your previous posts on the Tamoxifen thread and have been thinking of you all ever since.

What a legacy your Mother has left. More than most ever will.

Flowers to EMIN and you all.

EMIN was an amazing lady. RIP xxx Thanks

scarlet5tyger · 04/09/2013 15:22

I'm so, so sorry to read this news. Your mum was a fantastic lady who helped me personally both on here and through email as we were both fostering babies with drug addictions at the same time.

I still often think of funny phrases she passed on when I'm having a tough day with a poorly baby, and I use a version of her "goodbye" letter which she helped me draft whenever I move a child on to a new home.

If you get chance please can you post details of the date of her funeral? I'd like to raise a mug of wine to her!

twentyten · 04/09/2013 15:06

So very sorry.She was amazing.

LaVitaBellissima · 04/09/2013 15:04
