WRT the question of why men have always seemed to have the upper hand, I have always thought it was to do with the fact that before contraception was invented, women would spend a lot of time pregnant or breastfeeding, so tied to the home while the men went out and did things. That's just how I imagine it though, not based on any actual research.

Ilikethebreeze · 02/06/2013 20:28

flat I would, but I am not up on social etiquette!

I would like to know who was the first person to find a potato in the soil, look at it and think "If I boil that for twenty minutes it will be edible." :o

I mean, fruits and plants above ground are obvious food choices. But who discovered root veg were edible? And how long ago?

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/06/2013 20:27

sowornout sexuality is more neurological than DNA related,or that's how I've interpreted it.

suckmabigtoe · 02/06/2013 20:26

Who made the map of the world and who checked it to see if its correct and each country is in is correct place?

Depends on who you believe really.

This is where you think you are

This is more likely where you actually are

Why is it I can always remember how good chips taste, but I can never remember how good I feel after going to the gym??

deleted203 · 02/06/2013 20:25

How is your sexuality determined? Because I have a friend with identical twin brothers - and one is heterosexual, one is homosexual. They have identical DNA so why is this? I understand that you can't make someone gay or straight, they are who they are...so why would these two be attracted to different sexualities? I vaguely assumed your sexuality was sort of genetic.

Easter is more or less the first Sunday after the full moon (the Paschal Full Moon) following the March equinox.

Universe questions hurt my brain.

flatbellyfella · 02/06/2013 20:23

When you move to a new area, should you go and introduce yourself to the neighbours, or wait until they come and introduce themselves to you?

Ilikethebreeze · 02/06/2013 20:23

Fozzie, you can google about easter. Something about the 4th sunday after the 5th...., moon...

TheImpracticalCat · 02/06/2013 20:23

If the universe is constantly expanding, what is it expanding into?

hugoagogo · 02/06/2013 20:23

How much weight do I need to lose before someone will notice?

ITSWIM means If You See What I Mean

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 02/06/2013 20:22

IYSWIM - if you see what I mean (nice easy one!)

Ilikethebreeze · 02/06/2013 20:21

The HerringScreams. Men have been socail and religious reasons, yep, because of the bible again. Going all the way back to Adam and Eve. Adam was made boss of Eve.

re books, films, plays etc.
Can only say a tiny bit about songs. I saw a true film about the singer John Denver, and in the film it said that he would sometimes write songs in literally 15 minutes. That they just came into his head, and he had to get them out. Apparently he wrote one of his best songs, while going up a ski lift!

WawaSkittletits · 02/06/2013 20:20

I've asked lots of people this but no one has known the answer.

What would happen to us if the whole of the universe lost all gravity? The world wouldn't stay in the solar system surely? What would happen to everything on earth? Could we float off when nothing was pulling us towards anything?

Fozziebearmum2b · 02/06/2013 20:19

Who decides when Easter falls?

What does IYSWIM stand for?

What on earth do I wear to a pregnancy yoga class when Im the size of a house?

ballstoit · 02/06/2013 20:17

suckma...I do with non-fiction, but write stuff like 'tell Mum this bit' or 'research if this has further evidence'. I rarely actually do those things though.

Maat · 02/06/2013 20:17

Why are men fascinated with fire?

Barbecues / camp fires / chimineas - they are never happier than when they are stoking a fire.
