To pelt my cakes at this mum's head in the playground this afternoon? <fume>

The school are having a cake sale tomorrow and have BEGGED for donations of cakes. They have been Facebooking about how desperate they are all week as they want to make a dent in the £12,000 target needed for some new play equipment in the playground. One might think that flogging cakes at 30 pee each is not the way to make a dent but that's another thing...

I am pushed for time this week but I thought I could do some cornflake easter nests with some mini eggs on top as a quick alternative to baking and frosting two dozen fairy cakes. So I went out and bought the stuff (which I reckon cost more than they will get from the sales tbh) Then I replied to one of the FB begging messages saying "I will bring some cornflake easter nests tomorrow, will have about 40" Then one of the PTA wimmin replied "Ha ha! That's great but be prepared to take most of them home as they don't sell as well as real cakes."

Fuck. You. Bitch.

There was a giant cupcake on display in the supermarket this morning-it would've been rude not to give it a little thwack, blamed the toddler though.

pollywollydoodle · 29/03/2013 12:05

aby just put pieces in a bowl and stand in hot but not boiling water and wait

my last lot failed when i got water in the choc and it went grainy.and solid..Blush tasted fine though

What is it with cake making and it bringing out the worst in other people?

A member of staff left yesterday at work, I took in a homemade Victoria sponge and someone else took in a homemade cheese cake to have with coffee at break. Everyone wanted the sponge - DH reckons it was his homemade jam in the cake that people loved the most kicks DH

The cheesecake person came out of the office later on and asked what the secret ingredient was in my sponge, was it brown sugar? I politely said there isn't any secret ingredients, just Mary Berry's all in one sponge, takes seconds to do. She basically called me a liar Hmm and said I had to tell her what went in the cake. She stood and bloody well argued with me! - what on earth was all that about eh?

Thanks to this thread, I decided to make cornflake Easter nests with the DC this morning. I now have very upset DC as the chocolate wouldn't melt and coat the cornflakes properly - what have I done wrong??! How can I bugger up even crispy cornflake nests? Am I doomed to try making LDC instead? Confused

DuchessOfAvon · 29/03/2013 11:15

When I worked for a major high street retailer, for a short time we stocked a Bart Simpson cake - and we had to keep the CCTV trained on the shelf because someone kept stabbing the eyes out of them.

Was it a sub-quiche of cake-punchers?

MrsPennyapple · 29/03/2013 11:11

I'm off to the supermarket later, I daren't punch a cake (they don't have any good ones anyway), but I will look out for "damaged" ones, then I'll know there are MNers around.

Lucyellensmum95 · 29/03/2013 11:02

This thread seems to be highlighting something a lot more sinister than we originally thought

cake rage is a real and present danger

Dinkysmummy · 29/03/2013 10:55

This is great! Wednesday dd came home with chocolate nest with mini eggs. I was so jealous.. And am seriously considering making some more at home!

I wouldnt hit her wth the cake. I would make the cakes and when they sell fast I'd ask where your left overs are as your DC wants one!

Cross-posted.. No definitely as passive aggressive show of solidarity Grin

You have the whole school behind you! Go marms!

ChocsandChipsandSealingWax · 29/03/2013 09:37

Dammit that should be got a snotty email.

ChocsandChipsandSealingWax · 29/03/2013 09:36

Thankyouthankyouthankyou Thanks

For a really snotty email from our PTA chair this morning (I am secretary) and thought "fuck you bitch" (bloody autocorrect just tried to change that to duck you - not sure duck it bunting has quite the same ring to it...) and headed to mumsnet to cheer myself up and stop myself typing something rude back, and found this thread.

Loveit! It has had quite the desired effect. Being in the PTA has so put me off the bloody PTA.

MarmaladeTwatkins · 29/03/2013 09:13

Oooh, I hadn't thought that the influx of crispy cakes had been a silent show of solidarity.

Nah. I reckon the other mothers are just lazy scuzzers like me Wink

Congratulations Pombear, on your cake-thwacking debut. It becomes addictive, I warn you. Summer fetes will become hazardous as you shove your fists into your pockets to try and fight the urge to punch Marjorie's flourless chocolate gateaux...

Me too. I think DD and I will be making some rice krispie cakes later. Then we will punch them into our own faceholes.

BonjourCheeky · 29/03/2013 08:12

Leaning on cakes sounds like a good way to go about cake abuse. More ladylike and passive aggressive.

TwoPoundCakePuncher · 29/03/2013 08:10

I nominated it for classics yesterday and got an email saying they will take a look, i would like to bet they are too busy wiping their aching faces to actually make the decision and running round waitrose punching fuck out of cakes

TwllBach · 29/03/2013 08:09

I'm willing to bet the HT is a MNer and the crispie cakes were her way of giving you a sign, Marmalade.

The next newsletter will have a beautiful bunting border, mark my words.

minouminou · 29/03/2013 08:07

I feel a session of cornflake cake making coming on today.
I reckon Lemon Drizzle Cake bird should punch some flake cakes.....graze her knuckles good and proper....

Ace thread...... Hope it makes it into Classics.

After reading the entirety of this thread, I may have leant, very hard against a stand of cakes on the way past them and then made a mad dash for the deli section to observe my handiwork from afar.
Mission Success.

TobyLerone · 29/03/2013 07:02

Well done, Pom!

CSIJanner · 29/03/2013 06:45

I feel the need to bake a victoria sponge with the LO's today, overfill it with cream and jam, just to punch it. Hard. Fairly close to DH. Not that I'm angry with him r anything - just for sh!ts and giggles Grin

Thumbwitch · 29/03/2013 06:29

I can't believe it has taken me 2 days to finally get to the end of this thread but oh God it was worth it!

And how very petty of LDM to have denied you and the Chair a piece of her lemony scrambled egg cake - you must have been so gutted! Wink

I also think that the large number of chocolate crispy cakes might have been a result of your FB badinage (and yes, they HAVE to be mouth-rippingly hard, none of your chewy/syrupy versions here!)

I love threads like this. They remind me that MN still Has It. :)
