Weird things your body does, and you wonder if it happens to others too?

I know Im not the only one.

I cant even be arsed to name change, here goes.

Nervous fanny.

You know when someone falls - hard and cracks their chin or elbow or whatever, my stomach drops, I get a shot of anxiety that shoots through the pit of my stomach down to my fanny. Right in the middle of my fanny I get a horrible feeling of anxiety.

Its only started in the last few years, its really unpleasant. Its like a bolt of aniexty, and I ONLY get it when someone hurts themselves. Wtf is that all about?

Anyway, what weird shit does your body do? Confess.

Blimey! What is an each? Do I have two as well?

CrazyChicken · 24/07/2012 10:01

When I've had thrush and I'm scratching down below, it makes my right each crackle.

Mindyourownbusiness · 24/07/2012 09:55

Oh and when it's raining l always want to wee more, even though l've not drank any more. It's like l am absorbing the rain water through my skin.

As l said way upthread l get bucket fanny emptying whoosh of water on getting out of bath. As if l've absorbed some of the bath water.

I think l need a damp course.

MrsJohn, I get the bubbly cheeks thing too! I really like the feel of it.

MrsJohnMurphy · 24/07/2012 00:33

I get the javelin arse, flicky/squeaky eyes, restless legs too.

If I blow my cheeks out with my lips pursed, for awhile after I get little bubbles of air escaping from the inside of my left cheek. Bit odd, I can't stop feeling it with my tongue Blush.

I also get twitches in random places, I quite enjoy that too for some bizarre reason.

Fiveflowers · 23/07/2012 20:05

Summerrain, I get the diaphragm/rib thing too. It's not a hernia, I think it's a kind of cramp.

Yes, to the headbomb.

And I get deja vu when I'm depressed, strangely.

Onthebottomwithawomansweekly · 23/07/2012 17:28

That should read Thanks!

Onthebottomwithawomansweekly · 23/07/2012 17:26

OMG it's JAVELIN ARSE - I THOUGHT I WAS DYING!!!
Thank you thank you thank you Flowers to all who've mentioned it!

I also get the photic reflex, and pins and needles in the backs of my hands (only when I get a fright when driving), and a sleep kick (just as I'm falling asleep, if I'm on my back, I get a sleep spasm/kick that wakes me up - the bastard). Fanny bubbles too, plus the post bath gush. Oh and the odd gleek too.

We used to call that rush of saliva pre throwing up "the gushies" in college (usually happened the morning after when very hung over)

Meewhoo I got those little blisters two summers ago, they got worse and worse and skin was coming off my palms in sheets, I tried every cream and lotion known to man, no use.
Went off dairy for 3 days (was getting a cold and tried to reduce mucus) and as a side effect hands were then perfect. Got them again 3 weeks ago - immediately went off dairy again - perfect again.

Summerrain not to panic you but that could be a hernia, maybe get it checked?

Does anyone else get an itch in the middle of their head? Billy Connolly did a routine about it - you have to make v odd noises to try and get something to vibrate against the itch in order to scratch it.

My wrist sometimes feels like a nerve is caught and I have to pull my hand to somehow stretch it out so the nerve can ping back into place.

Oh and one night I slept some weird way on my leg, leapt out of bed not realising it was completely dead, and fell flat on my face. Also slept with my arm above my head across my forehead and it went dead, I woke up and thought someone was holding me down. When it flopped down into my face it was like being slapped with a wet fish.

EveryPicture · 23/07/2012 16:00

Oh, interesting re the flicky/shaky eyes. I have DCs with constant nystagmus (wobbly eyes) due to a medical condition.

Linky to nystagmus

NotGeoffVader · 23/07/2012 13:45

Another 'shaky eye' one here - it's particularly noticeable at night when we go past those amber lanterns used to highlight roadworks, and some red rear lights on cars make my eyes do it too.

HazeltheMcWitch · 23/07/2012 11:02

OOh, QueenStromba - I'm not 'more freckle than not' as you state (probably as mine are concentrated so I have a ton of moles instead!), but I do have them everywhere - palms of hands, nail beds, sole of foot (which people thought was a verruca when I was a kid!), inside my mouth, and the one that gips me out - on my eyeball.

handbagCrab · 23/07/2012 11:00

I used to suck my right thumb. It tastes completely different to my left thumb, or any other finger.

My pain killers wore off mid emcs and I'm a red head too.

I too have exploding head syndrome and weird buzzy ears.

Also I get déjà vu really strongly. I can see what's going to happen so I panic and try and be random to stop it from playing out as it has in my head. I'm now worried I have epilepsy after reading this thread!

laudinum · 23/07/2012 09:34

Yes, Tapir. Shock
We all wet our pants.

I made him pull over immediately so I could drive. He does this sort of thing though and I will add "Horticultural Headturning" to the collection.
This is where they drive and turn their head a la Exorcist when they see good dahlias or a neat lawn.

Does anyone get HeadBomb just as they are going to sleep? You are just on the verge of going into sleep and a bomb goes off in your head with a small flash of light and loud noise?

SuddenlyMadameGlamour · 22/07/2012 23:02

Omg what I got the bird shit thing the other day! I was convinced a bird had shat on my head. I told dp to try and wipe it off for me, but he said there was nothing there. I didn't believe him so I went to the loo to look, but nothing! But it felt like a big wet dollop!

SuddenlyMadameGlamour · 22/07/2012 22:57

Yeah that makes sense. Although you would have thought that if our ancestors decided to just stop feeding, this could have led to higher infant mortality which would have "killed off" that tendency. I guess though earlier weaning could have led to a higher volume of offspring to balance it out like you say... Interesting! Grin

For me I found it more sadness enduring I the earlier days rather than near weaning, but then I was probably sadder in general in the early days with no sleep and colicky newborn. Sad

TapirBackRider · 22/07/2012 22:54

Shock at laudinum's dh

Hope he realised the error of his ways!

QueenStromba · 22/07/2012 22:49

Feeling sad while breastfeeding could lead you to wean earlier which would mean fertility returns earlier and more offspring born which would probably pretty much balance out any detrimental effects to fitness it would have overall meaning that there is no strong selective pressure against it. There doesn't have to be a good reason for something to occur, there just has to be lack of a particularly good reason for it not to.

SuddenlyMadameGlamour · 22/07/2012 22:35

I definitely get the sadness with nip stimulation/let down. I used to get puzzled by people going on about feel good hormones being released and the "bonding" that is supposed to happen during bfing. I persevered for 12 months and enjoyed it in the end but I really didn't like it at first. Sad

I wonder what possible evolutionary advantage there could be from feeling sad when breastfeeding? Confused

doinmummy · 22/07/2012 21:56

Yes yes what I get flicky eyes too.

NK2b1f2 · 22/07/2012 21:39

When pregnant, lying on my right side made me fart, lying on my left side made me burp... Blush Poor dh never said a word about either!

ThisOnce · 22/07/2012 21:28

The sadness with nipple stimulation might be related to D-MER, the intense sadness some women get along with the milk letdown reflex when BF.

QueenStromba · 22/07/2012 21:06

I've got one that hasn't been mentioned yet. When I get indigestion (which fortunately isn't very often) I get really bad, stabby ear ache in my left ear.

Lately I've been smelling basil when there is no basil - sometimes I just smell it briefly and other times I'm smelling it all day.

Also:

  • javelin arse during my period
  • javelin fanjo
  • nervous fanny
  • period pains in my pubic area, vulva and labia (this is quite a recent one)
  • scratching certain bits of me and feeling it elsewhere
  • twitchy eye just in my left eye - I went about 15 years between attacks and started getting it again recently
  • can't burp
  • I'm the tickliest person ever - I'm ticklish everywhere (even my knees for example) and can tickle myself
  • I'm the freckliest person ever - I'm more freckle than not in places. I also have a freckle in between my toes, on the palm of my hand and on my eyeball.
FermezLaBouche · 22/07/2012 19:46

So pleased to read about conditions I thought only I had!
-Gleeking
-Javelin arse
-sleep paralysis
-The nipple stimulation/feeling of immense sadness

Also, I know when I'm going to vomit for certain when I get a rush of saliva to my mouth - once I get that I have about six seconds to get to a toilet!

Yes, LemarchandsBox!

Picking up, say, ds's tiny pants or lego. You feel ant sized then if you go and lie down in a heap, you are fifteen feet tall and all uncomfortable with spikey flashes in your head.
