Weird things your body does, and you wonder if it happens to others too?

I know Im not the only one.

I cant even be arsed to name change, here goes.

Nervous fanny.

You know when someone falls - hard and cracks their chin or elbow or whatever, my stomach drops, I get a shot of anxiety that shoots through the pit of my stomach down to my fanny. Right in the middle of my fanny I get a horrible feeling of anxiety.

Its only started in the last few years, its really unpleasant. Its like a bolt of aniexty, and I ONLY get it when someone hurts themselves. Wtf is that all about?

Anyway, what weird shit does your body do? Confess.

I don't think it is the toner. It feels more like a sensitivity to some kind of electro magnetic photocopier force field. Blush

WishingRLwouldFuckOff · 25/07/2012 03:36

I actually do have a "standby button" but it is not a pressure point. It is an area on my neck, which, when stroked gently will actually send me to sleep. I am not very good at relaxing and not hugely tactile but stroking this spot will first make me relax and more tolerant to being touched (hugs etc) and the will send me to sleep. Useful to know when in the middle of a long bout of insomnia

I get the visual disturbance migraines, with tunnel vision that makes everything seem very far away. i also get the paralysis migraines with inability to speak coherently. I have strong med set up for dealing with this and it scares other people more then it does me these days. Also get the phasing out with the migraines - like some described previously, as if you suddenly wake up and you have no idea how or why. Had eeg and an ct scan so it is just migraines. But scary if you don't know.

Sometimes if I lie on my back you can see my pulse in my stomach. Just below the diaphragm is.

Clicky hip - check
displaced nerve pain - check

Hmmmm interesting - I did get alot more javelin arse when pregnant so perhaps it is hormonal not haemorrhoidal!!! During my periods my SPD rears its ugly head a bit plus an aching right hip kicks in.

QueenStromba · 25/07/2012 00:01

I also sneeze in 3s, 6s and 9s (and sometimes 12s). The general consensus on javelin arse is that it's hormone related - some posters (including myself) only get it during periods and others attribute it to ovulation.

Midwife99 · 24/07/2012 23:57

I also have a noisy left knee but my right one is silent. Also I can only sneeze in threes! Either 3 or 6 sneezes but never any other number, apart from once when I did 9!!!

Midwife99 · 24/07/2012 23:55

It could happen ..... But only if pregnant apparently!!

duchesse · 24/07/2012 23:45

My thing just makes me wonder if anyone ever has had a lovely butterfly tattooed on their arse and woken up morning to find they have a rude word on the forehead instead. It could happen...

NotGeoffVader · 24/07/2012 23:12

Here's another one - my left knee makes a rattling noise (or it could also be described as the sound of removing tape from a slightly porous surface) when I walk downstairs, always as I am shifting the weight on to it.
If I stand still and bend my knees it makes a bubbling noise and hurts.
My right knee is silent.

youarekidding · 24/07/2012 22:49

This thread has had me in hysterics. Grin

I am glad to know I am not the only nervous fanny twitcher in the world though!

One of my hips sort of pops - apparently the muscles running vertical to the ball and socket aren't quite in the right place Hmm It's never come completely out of it's socket yet! but if I lean arkwardly it does make a funny popping noise!

Midwife99 · 24/07/2012 22:39

Duchesse - that is scary!!! Lol

Midwife99 · 24/07/2012 22:38

Olivestree - do you think you're allergic to the toner?!!

Midwife99 · 24/07/2012 22:11

Yeah I get that! I reckon it's high internal haemorrhoids!!

QueenStromba · 24/07/2012 21:49

Javelin arse is a shooting pain in your arse that feels exactly like someone has rammed a javelin up it.

Midwife99 · 24/07/2012 21:34

Please someone - tell me what javelin arse is!!!

VivaLeBeaver · 24/07/2012 20:59

I get javelin arse. I screamed really loudly in a garden centre once due to it, was all hunched over for ten seconds with people staring and then I was fine.

olivestree · 24/07/2012 20:34

Duchesse that is freaky.

Please tell me someone has this, as no one believes me.

Photocopiers make me feel weird. When I stand close to them I get a lump in my throat, a weird stiff feeling in the back of my neck and can smell a funny smell. I really can't be near them. An office with a room full of photocopiers makes me feel HORRENDOUS!

Might have something to do with photocopying my face in high school??

duchesse · 24/07/2012 17:41

This is going to be a little long, I do apologise. When I was about 11 my dog got caught in a fox trap. I was first on the scene and to stop her biting her leg off to get out of the trap, I put my hand in her mouth and held her lower jaw until my father arrived to free her. She bit me several times quite hard. A few days later I was in maths getting really bored and thought I'd colour in one of the puncture wounds with ink. I ended up with a small tattooed black spot on the side of a finger.

About 15 years later, while I was pregnant with DS, the spot moved over the course of a few weeks to the palm of my hand. As the spot on the finger faded, the spot on the palm grew darker. I still have it now on the palm of my hand; the scar from the bite is still on my finger.

Just how freaky is that?

Midwife99 · 24/07/2012 17:29

Oh please someone put me out of my misery - can't find "javelin arse" unthread! What is it? Grin

Midwife99 · 24/07/2012 17:24

I'm crying laughing too! I have nervous fanny too plus prickly scalp when it dawns on me some real shit is happening! I used to also get stabbing pains up my fanny or arse when pregnant & definitely a buzzing cervix when pregnant. Actually speaking from a midwifery point of view - I always know I've done an effective membrane sweep for overdue ladies when a wave of redness literally sweeps up their chest & neck & up their face as if they're having a menopausal hot flush & they start fanning themselves! Those hormones are pretty powerful things!!

kissyfur · 24/07/2012 17:15

I get that too tothesea the random images from the past and memories, always thought it was something that happened to everyone!! Blush

tothesea · 24/07/2012 13:33

Interesting stuff garlic - I am a very nostalgic person so probably has more to do with that. It's one of these things I have asked other people if they experience it and they look at me like Hmm

garlicbutter · 24/07/2012 13:23

Sounds like mild Hyperthermesia, tothesea. Total recall is one of those things that looks like it'd be great, but in reality is torture for the sufferer: pleased to hear yours is more selective!

tothesea · 24/07/2012 11:36

When I was wee I could make the corner of my eye 'squeak' when rubbing it. Wow hadn't thought about that for years - never happens now.
Yes to Javelin arse - brilliant description
Funny fanny - rather than nervous fanny - going over hills in car or on fairground rides, vair pleasant swooping sensation
Yes to sleep paralysis - very scary first time, just go back to sleep these days.
I had had problems with breathing since having DS1 6 years ago. I used to hold my breath when he was sleeping as I was tiptoeing around trying not to wake him. It became a habit and I now breathe really shallowly and hold my breath all the time, just really conscious of my breathing, it's not good.
This one is more of head than body one but I get random images from my past popping into my head all the time. Nothing particularly interesting or poignant - just stuff that happened, completely unconnected to anything currently going on - does anyone else get this?
I also 'remember' stuff that I have been remembering forever, it also just pops into my head. Hard to explain but just things from when I was really young that have just stuck in my head.

CrazyChicken · 24/07/2012 10:24

pmsl ear I meant !

Mindyourownbusiness · 24/07/2012 10:11

Onthebottom.... reminded me something similiar happened to me with my arm once.
It was before the days of central heating [old gimmer] and l was in bed one freezing morning but unbeknown to me my arm was outside the covers on top of the bed. I was lying on my back and as l woke up and started to stir l watched my exposed arm slide off me and off the side of the bed.
I actually thought in my dosy 'just woke up' state that l was watching my own arm fall off.

It took me a few minutes to pluck up the courage to look down the side of the bed as l was convinced my disembodied arm would be lying on the floor. Grin

Thankfully it was still attached but completely numb, so l had to literally lift it back under the covers to warm up with my other arm.

It absolutely wrecked when the feeling was coming back into it aswell.
