Weird things your body does, and you wonder if it happens to others too?

I know Im not the only one.

I cant even be arsed to name change, here goes.

Nervous fanny.

You know when someone falls - hard and cracks their chin or elbow or whatever, my stomach drops, I get a shot of anxiety that shoots through the pit of my stomach down to my fanny. Right in the middle of my fanny I get a horrible feeling of anxiety.

Its only started in the last few years, its really unpleasant. Its like a bolt of aniexty, and I ONLY get it when someone hurts themselves. Wtf is that all about?

Anyway, what weird shit does your body do? Confess.

RobinSparkles I get phantom baby kicks too. I think my massive 9llbder squashed my intestines. They feel very realistic.

SuddenlyMadameGlamour · 21/07/2012 07:50

Lucjam, am on my phone ATM and don't think I can pm, but once I manage to get to a pc I'll pm. X Wink

Stannwigg · 21/07/2012 07:42

YY to the weak thumbs! In fact even just thinking about it makes them feel a bit wibbly.

RobinSparkles · 21/07/2012 06:47

Also, since my first pregnancy, I often experience "phantom" baby kicks when I'm not pregnant! It's so weird - feels like a baby kicking and moving around but there's nothing there!

It's probably just wind but nothing happens iyswim? Either that or food/drink gurgling around!

RobinSparkles · 21/07/2012 06:42

Not me, but my DD2 sneezes every time we go out into bright sunshine.

I know that some people have photic reflex but it's every time. It makes me :o.

rednellie · 21/07/2012 05:46

Nervous fanny - check
Javeline arse - check
Post bath gushing - check (and even my 2 yr old DD gets this, so not bucket fanny related)
Precordial catch - check, nice to have a name for it!
Sleepy orgasms - check
Pins and needles fanny -check
Fanny bubbles - check (and a much nice phrase than farts)

I also get this thing that if something/someone rubs up against my cheek it tingles uncontrollably for ages after.

And slightly more weird head thing, than body thing: I still step over the cracks in pavements and have to step with my right foot first past railings in fences.

bogeyface · 21/07/2012 00:26

referred even

bogeyface · 21/07/2012 00:26

Restless legs, check
sleeping orgasm, sort of. I always wake up just before the best bit Wink

I get refered pain from IBS in my shoulder which is apparantly quite common but you try telling someone that the reason you are rubbbing your shoulder is irritable bowel syndrome :o

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 21/07/2012 00:13

Squash makes my mouth sore as well. Whyyy?

Booette · 21/07/2012 00:07

Javelin arse. Not sure if it's related to time of the month, I will check next time I get it!

Alice in Wonderland - I used to think I was getting bigger or smaller as child, I used to sit there and enjoy it. I still get it sometimes now. I've never smoked weed and I don't get migraines.

Twitching before sleep. Also, sometimes as I'm going off to sleep I hear someone shouting.

Restless legs, which is very very annoying.

Period and ovulation pain in my legs.

Itches that can't be scratched.

Sleeping orgasms, and also when I orgasm the soles of my feet hurt!

Once, my ankle suddenly hurt and I couldn't walk on it at all for a few hours. Then it was fine!

TreacleSoda · 20/07/2012 23:30

oh, and also, my big toe on my left foot once went numb suddenly (I was lying in bed reading a book at the time, and within about 30 seconds the feeling was gone) and stayed that way for months. Never did find out what caused it, but it was years ago now, and it eventually went back to normal. That was strange...

lucjam · 20/07/2012 23:30

I think this is the best thread i've ever seen on mn, funny and yet reassuring!

TheWombat · 20/07/2012 23:22

:)

mumnosbest · 20/07/2012 23:21

lauratheexplorer i get tingly/pins n needles on fanny too of ive sat too long.

TheWizardsWife · 20/07/2012 23:16

Ive been both amused and agreeing with so much of this thread.

Amazed that someone elses knees hurt with period pain...especially since I only discovered I had a tilted cervix about 2months ago (not sure how it took til 33 to know that!)

Mine to add- my front few bottom teeth tingle A LOT if I've had a particularly steamy session. Not just any naked time, just a real good seeing too! Bizarre!

JollyHockeyStick · 20/07/2012 23:14

Diluting orange juice makes me cough.

lucjam · 20/07/2012 23:09

SuddenlyMadameGlamour could you please pm re: the leg pain and endo, my GP won't beleive me even thought I have had an op before to get rid of endo, I would like more info, thanks v much

goygoy · 20/07/2012 23:06

Blimey, I get/have had loads of these too...

Tonsil stones (freaked me out completely as a child/teenager)
Javelin arse
Fanny bubbles
Eye watering/strong urge to cry/paralysed feeling if someone tells a ghost story/supernatural type tale
Recurring dreams when ill (more as a child than an adult)
That runny ear feeling (but completely dry when I check it and only ever in my left ear)

Don't know if this has been mentioned... but I still get the 'let down reflex' feeling if I see one of my DCs hurt themselves. Haven't breastfed in over 5 years.... Confused

Also certain smells still make me feel physically sick (had awful morning sickness with both kids) and cleaning my teeth makes me gag (never a problem before kids either)

Great thread!

ThisOnce · 20/07/2012 22:57

Quenelle and Sshhh, I think this might be a form of OCD.

TreacleSoda · 20/07/2012 22:52

This isn't so much my body doing strange things, more my mind.

But sometimes, I get suddenly overwhelmed by this feeling that I might have done something really embarassing without realising it. e.g. farted in a room full of people, and everyone is too polite to say. Or said something really inappropriate. Or picked my nose. That sort of thing. I get sort of convinced that I might have actually done it, even though I have no reason to believe that I would, if you know what I mean.

ToffeeWhirl · 20/07/2012 22:48

Have had that sleep paralysis thing too. Awful.

ToffeeWhirl · 20/07/2012 22:48

*Tasteslikepandas8 - when I was little, I used to get a feeling that I was far, far away from everything. If I looked at the window, for example, it seemed as if it was at the end of a long tunnel. Definitely something to do with size, but I didn't feel big, just different and 'wrong'.

Also, sometimes get a weird thing when I feel that I'm lying on something hard behind my head. It happened both times when I was pregnant and it makes me want to cry a bit. Have absolutely no idea what it means, but when it happens I just think, "Oh, it's that weird, unpleasant feeling again" -Confused. I wonder if it's some kind of memory from babyhood.

mumnosbest · 20/07/2012 22:47

*concentrate

mumnosbest · 20/07/2012 22:47

What about really long wees or ones that stop for a second then start all over again.

Anyone else go for a middle of the night or early morning wee and think they might not be awake. i have to really voncentrate and worry i might be asleep and dreaming whilst wetting the bed.

TreacleSoda · 20/07/2012 22:45

To the poster who said their eyes water when they yawn, this happens to me as well. Like you, its not just a wee tear or two running out of the side of the eyes, its proper tears, gushing out and down my cheeks, and always makes people think I'm really crying.
