I said I never would after the first time, but am so glad I did, and so much fun with our DDs (my 2 his 1) involved

Grockle · 27/06/2012 16:48

I did it! I said 'Oh, go on then'

and he's responded with

'what???'

Grin

Least romantic proposal & acceptance ever but better than his threat of doing it at the pantomime & getting me up on stage.

I might make him ask me properly though.

Yeah text him back Grin

SandyBottoms · 27/06/2012 16:47

It's not really a proposal as in 'will you be my wife' more of a compliment I guess. Smile

Icelollycraving · 27/06/2012 16:46

Yay,I do love a proposal thread! Thanks

clinkingIceCubes · 27/06/2012 16:46

I might just do that PaperView

I could actually get married on the beach - that's where we first met. Ooo, I'm excited!

I don't care what any of the "bah humbug proposal by text" people are saying, I would be delighted to get a text like that, out of the blue (although it would be a bit of a shock, seeing as I've been married 14 years!). Say yes to the dress!!!

PaperView · 27/06/2012 16:38

Text him back and say "Oh go on then" Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/06/2012 16:29

Oh please text him back! Grin

Katz · 27/06/2012 16:26

Go for it grockle - I don't think you'd have posted the thread if you weren't slightly tempted to say yes.

carabos · 27/06/2012 16:23

Remember that old MN maxim - "no is a complete sentence". Grin

Mrsjay · 27/06/2012 16:20

oh now he has text you can dig out those wedding magazines you have hidden Grin go on say yes you know you want too

Grockle · 27/06/2012 16:20

Oh, only4tonight, I'm sorry you are having a crap time. I have been too. Have a Brew and [share the love]

OP posts:
Grockle · 27/06/2012 16:19

Well, when I read the text, my initial response was a smile and excitement not NO.

DS would be thrilled and his DS's would love it too.

Maybe I have thought about it a teeny bit I need a dress

Actually scrap that. The best reason to get married is to make ME happy. Having a crap time right now. Would love to feel the radiated love.

only4tonight · 27/06/2012 16:15

No the best reason to marry is because it feels right to you. I have a feeling that we wouldn't be having this discussion if it wouldn't make you happy too. You wouldn't have said anything to us if you weren't thinking about it.

ExitPursuedByABear · 27/06/2012 16:15

I only got married for the pension.

But hey ho

Mrsjay · 27/06/2012 16:15

oh no you havnt been thinking about this at all what with your beach party and whatnot Grin

CamperWidow · 27/06/2012 16:14

Yay!!!!!!!

Grockle · 27/06/2012 16:12

Yes, he's been married before. He does lots to make me happy. I could marry him to make him happy - that's the best reason to do it, isn't it?

Maybe I will marry the bastard.

I could whisk him down to the registry office with the kids in the summer and have a big party on the beach

tumbleweedblowing · 27/06/2012 16:08

It seems it would make your DP happy. That would be enough for me. Bonus a party, and presumably rings for you both, if that's what you both want.

What's not to like.

only4tonight · 27/06/2012 16:04

Dh and I were never going to marry. Happy as we were, no need for a piece of paper, blah blah blah....

A few months after we had Dd we both just changed our minds. It wasn't for Dd, or anyone else pushing us, its just that not being married suddenly felt like we were in the wrong place. It alsmost felt like an effort not to get married.

ThisIsAUsername · 27/06/2012 16:04

Has your DP ever been married before?

And if you won't gain anything from doing it, then why not just do it to make DP happy :) it obviously means something to him...
