I've learnt a shitload of stuff!

~ That it's possible to buy frozen, chopped onions
~ That there are people who drink more wine than I do
~ That my relationship is amazing and that my DP is a wonder
~ That I'm even more judgemental than I thought
~ That everyone is judging me all the time, and how little I care
~ That I should meal-plan
~ That I should be grateful every day for my health and that of my family
~ That I should be grateful that my DC will eat whatever is put in front of them

And mostly

~ That it doesn't matter what someone needs, someone else will know the answer/how to get it. Or will just do a bit of handholding until everything's better.

ooh will nick that tip about the bedding Dashing Redhead :)

Remembered another - most local areas have Facebook groups for selling tat unwanted goods on. Just put your town in the searchbar with sell and see what comes up.
I've made nearly £100 in a little over a month selling stuff I have lying around unused and its far handier than Ebay as its faster and no having to parcel up stuff and trudge to the PO.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 12/06/2012 17:01

  • that real-life MILs far outstrip fictional ones in their appalling/mad behaviour.
  • that I'm vair vair lucky to have a (male) DP who just knows that housework/cooking are team sports, and doesn't have to be told/given lists/shown MN thread about it.
  • that there are people who have weirder and more embarrassing crushes than I do.
  • that a lot of people are considerably richer than me.
  • that a lot of people are considerably poorer than me.
  • lots of creative and brilliant swearwords/rude phrases. Grin

Toby, how's your planning for your cafe going?

DashingRedhead · 12/06/2012 16:57

-That storing each set of bedding in one of the pillowcases will save you loads of time (can't believe I'd never come across that one).
-That the shared experience of MN is a lifeline when you don't know what to do.
-How to deal with someone as rude as my SIL.
-That even at an ungodly hour of the morning, when you're having a moment of work-wardrobe-doubt, someone will help you.
-That I'm not the only one paddling furiously under the water trying to make it all look swanlike and serene, that in fact is normal motherhood.

CrispyCod · 12/06/2012 16:55

That I should park in P&C spaces so that some MNetters will have something to judge! Grin

littlemachine · 12/06/2012 16:54

Yes lemon Now go and shine! I wish I could remember who imparted this wisdom so I could credit them.

FoofFighter · 12/06/2012 16:53

To put a handful of porridge oats in with your mince when making chilli/bol/savoury mince etc to make it go further, you don't even notice it (unless you put far too much in and end up with beef porridge)

That someone somewhere in real life or online is watching your every move and judging you for it rightly or wrongly.

The generosity of complete strangers Thanks, but that is also counter-acted with the needless nastiness too Sad

That if my DP offers to take me up the Oxo Tower, we aren't going for a meal Grin

Not to google random things mentioned on here Shock

And not to click on random links on here Grin

LadyBeagleEyes · 12/06/2012 16:17

That there are other people in the world that share my sense of humour.
I love talking surreal crap with certain posters, and love the fact that they get it.

DoingItForMyself · 12/06/2012 16:06

That I was being emotionally abused and that there are worse life events than divorce.

That perfect strangers are willing to spend their free time and energy boosting my confidence and holding my hand through some tough times.

That apparently most of what I wear and most of my interior decor is soooo last decade and/or 'naff'!

LemonTurd · 12/06/2012 16:05

So, so much. It has enriched my life immeasurably.

marshmallowpies · 12/06/2012 13:14

That my relationship with my exBF was emotionally abusive (I didn't even know the term existed!) and I am well shot of him and his wretched mother.
That feminism is alive & well!
That I am blessed beyond belief to have a DH who irons his own shirts and brings me tea in bed every day (and more besides)
To feel awe and respect for all the parents here who have children with SN or who are ill.
Loads of advice about breastfeeding and coping with a newborn generally.
It's been a lifeline!
